PrometheusMFD
Do you think that being good at Guitar Hero/Rock Band is a reputable skill, or that it is a mere mockery of people with "actual talent"? I find that, due to the vast differences between them in mindset and motion, they aren't comparable, but that's just me.

So it's not a mockery, nor is it a reputable skill. It's one of those cool but hard things to do, yet it's not considered amazing talent like playing the guitar. Do you understand what I mean? =)

Lazer Yoshi
Games are meant for people to have fun.Nothing wrong at all with playing Guitar Hero. It's not mocking instruments one bit. It's a fun game for people to play.
Dark
I am good at Guitar Hero. I suck at playing a real guitar. Guitar Hero is in no means an instrument, but it shouldn't get the same praise as actual guitarists get. But it does require skill.
Kirsten889
it takes skill to do both. granted, guitar hero is not as hard as playing the guitar in real life, unless your playing through the fire and flames on expert... x_x

Man0waR
I mean sure, it's not something to waste your life on (like blindz0r or some of the other "rock band celebrities") but I see it as a thing to do with your friends at a party and whatnot. I'm not horrible at the game but I'm still pretty good. Just so you know. But yeah, not what I would call "reputable skill" even though some people give praise to those who are good at it. Lemniscate
I play both guitar hero and real guitar, and I have to say, guitar is definitely harder, but the real problem with guitar hero isn't the game itself, but rather the people who play it and then insult real guitarists because of how good they are at it. Dweller of Parables
The people who play GH should know that their "skill" in GH is nothing compared to that of a guitarist who can actually play the solo to the song. I play guitar and must say that GH is really dull. Yep. Expert mode is REALLY BORING. It repeats and repeats the simple sequence. The comparison between the two is only one. The meaning is having fun. Screw GH. I say buy a real guitar and learn by yourself.

Lemniscate
What game were you playing?Guitar Hero is nothing like that. Expert is more like playing the song with only five frets I lol'd so hard at this quote. Expert is garbage, I can run through Through the Fire and Flames nearly perfect on GH, the guitar version is infinitely harder, so hard that the guitarist for Dragonforce can barely play it (trust me, their live shows are terrible). To say that GH is as difficult as real guitar shows just how little about Guitar and guitar theory you know.

Lemniscate
My highest score on TtFaF was 87%, which is better than anyone I've seen before. I have since retired from Guitar Hero because it became really boring. Also, you did in fact say that Guitar Hero was as hard as real guitar, by saying that: Expert is more like playing the song with only five frets

Lemniscate
To expect pics is stupid, am I supposed to play while holding a camera? And trust me, GH is nothing like guitar, "with five frets", it is like comparing a harmonica to computer, they have no serious relation. One is a musical instrument, full of mathematical theory, and designed for the playing of music as a way of entertainment, the other is a video game, design for the seeming playing of music, as a way of entertainment. Lemniscate
Ah, but there is no trigonometry for things such as the vibrations of strings, the applied pressure to specific parts of the strings and it's effect on angels and tonality, and the like, any of those kinds of equations (the kind that make up mathemetical music theory) would require more parts of the guitar, namely the strings.
