A suggestion, a comment, a formal demand. Something Important.

Recommended Posts

Hello, YCM.

I have decided to take action against something that a problem. A metaphorical thorn in the side of the metaphorical body of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Maker Forums. It is about the quality and activity (mainly activity) of the Super Moderators of these Forums.

'Why?' you may ask. I know why.

Reasons:

No. 1: One of them isn't active on these Forums at all.

No. 2: One of them does little or nothing I know of or can see.

No. 3: One of them I haven't seen since the closing of the Alias Emporium.

As you more intelligent people may have noticed, one Moderator is missing. He (in my opinion) is the most active Moderator on this Forum and his contributions have been invaluable. I am, of course, referring to the great CRAB HELMET.

No. 1:GOD KAZE hasen't been an active Mod since January, though I did see him online about a month ago.

No. 2:DJ OSIRIS (alias. ADVANCED RAVER) hasen't done anything I know of or of any importance that I have seen in Months. I see him online about once a week, and haven't seen him Sticky or Lock in several months.

I haven't seen DARTH BROWAROD active since the closing of the Alias Emporium about a week ago. I could excuse his lack of activity while it was open, since the 'Name Change Traffic' is so high, but now it is closed, I'd like to see him more active on this site.

[P.S]: This is a complaint, and comment, and a suggestion. I will not pretend this is a simple suggestion, I think it is a call for something important, a formal demand. We need more active Super Moderators. I have no right to choose or vote for anyone, but we need more in general around this site. More Moderators would make this a safer Forum, a more active, respectful community and bring out the good in everyone.

Sincere Regards,

~ Alf

What exactly do we need tons more Super Moderators for? The only people I could see deserving of Super Mod status are Umbra and possibly Chaos Pudding, and aside from that I think the focus should be on making more Moderators rather than Super Mods.

I don't think we need tonnes, just a couple more active ones that can make a difference to the Forums.

The problem is that there are very few members who are actually deserving of the position.

True, but I have no right to name names. We need someone active, in touch with the public of the Forum and be resourceful and intelligent.

Chaos Pudding? No...

I'd rather see an existing mod be promoted.

And this is neither of those. This is common sense.

Although, I can defend Browarod here.

He is always online for much of the day. But unfortunately for you, YCM is not where he is. But rather playing WoW, watching TV (while on IM), or dueling with me *snickers*. He also has a job and college. But when he does come online he does do much.

Ooh, and Crab Helmet is useless as a moderator at this point. All he does is belittle people on the boards, that is not setting his role right. He is not great by any means.

Crab Helmet is one of the best Moderators on the Forum. He locks a lot of Topics, he's not really uptight, so he lets things go sometimes (which is good because sometimes Mods can overreact to things), and a lot of his posts are insightful.

I think rather than make new Super Mods, there should be more mods for each section. Custom Cards has like three, so why not add more to other sections?

It is not a bad idea' date=' God Kaze, like you say, has never been on in my time at YCM. I think, like Icy said, you should promote some mods, say Opalmoon, to be supers.

[/quote']

Lol as much as I adore Opalmoon. Even she knows that she isn't active enough to be a Super.

EDIT: @ Star: Because Custom Cards needs the Moderators. The others don't.

In my own defense, I may not post often in threads on the forum itself, but that does not mean I am not active. Most of the time when I'm on YCM, I am resolving reports and checking PMs (especially since the closing of the Alias Emporium) and otherwise cleaning up around the place.

I do try to post in non-moderator capacities as much as possible, but I don't always have the time, and I personally feel that keeping the forum clean and taken care of is more important than maintaining a consistently high post count.

As for the whole suggestion of more super mods, I do think perhaps more might be needed, but I will not comment on specific individuals in this public area.

Like Icy said, Opalmoon is a good mod, but she's not active enough. The only active mod that would be good for the position is Umbra, really. No offense to any other mods, but we're better off promoting new mods to sections like Your Deck, TCG, and even General.

Have you seen the TCG Section recently?

Browa should stay, out of the four. Browa and Crab.

The bold is arguable, however, he is active. That makes him better at his job than the other three.

I adore her as well' date=' I find her funny, insightful and clever. But she isn't active enough. We need someone who comes on for an hour a day, every day with the occasional break.

Thank you for responding. I understand that the closure of the Alias Emporium has made your job harder, since avid members are constantly PMing you asking for name changes, but I think you should be a tad more active.

Off-Topic: I want a name revert back to Alf, please XD.

Is he? Just because a member is active, doesn't make them a great/better member. Just because a moderator is active, doesn't make them a better moderator. All he does is belittle people, maniacally to the point of mental retardation. Even making a "Drinking Game" out of his supposed fan-base.

He rarely locks or bans members. And never supplies more than the basic "You're Stupid" or "This Topic is Stupid". Or brings in factors that are totally irrelevant to the subject to prove his superiority to which he isn't.

At this point, God Kaze is far better than him.

No. That is simply your opinion. He locks A LOT in TCG. Plus, he is insightful and obviously intelligent. I'd probably use the word 'wise' to describe him.

If that is your definition of active, then your earlier statement that I am not active cannot be true as I am on at least that much.

As I said, I'm not always posting, but I am on quite frequently.

Crab has a......unique disposition. He may be smart, but he chooses (at least on the forum) to use that knowledge in a condescending way with an attitude of superiority. In my experience, this only creates more conflict. However, Crab is his own person and if he thinks this style works, then that's his prerogative.

He is insightful, but so rarely that it doesn't matter at this point.

I would use the term A shame for his position and all of his colleagues.

Crab stays. Period. He's good enough to be a Super Mod.

As much as I hate repeating myself, you should demote the non-active mods, as in God Kaze, TotalObelisk, J-Max (he himself said that he will not come back), Hioco (he doesn't do anything) and glassberry (did he go away for real or just for a while?).

General needs at least 1 more mod, because 1 mod isn't good enough for a section as big as General.

Umbra is a good choice for a Super Mod.

Crab is one of the most popular Moderators this site has ever had. He puts in more work than Dj' date=' is more active than God Kaze and Browa, though Browa is arguably more productive.

[/quote']

Popularity does not make you a good moderator in the least. However, Crab is a really intelligent person and he's very active in the TCG Section, leading me to believe that he probably is the best active Mod, second to Darth who's pretty much done so much for the site that it's kind of hard for anyone to take that away.

Anyways, I would have gone do Custom Cards, but Icy is against that. My ways would be too strict, so I can see what he means.

Darth is not a bad Super =/ So you haven't seen him do anything since Alias Emporium... like 2 days ago? Maybe he's on vacation for a while. o.0

Anyways, I agree with Kaze and DJ and you ought to add Crab =/

And I agree with Icy, the current mods ought to be promoted and most Supers must be demoted.

That's a bad idea, though. Most of the current Mods couldn't handle the responsibility of being Super Mods, as a lot of them aren't even active enough.
