White Void Posted July 15, 2009 Report Share Posted July 15, 2009 Alright so this card in Stardust Overdrive really caught my attention. DARK/Insect "When this card is in your Graveyard, you can select 1 face-up monster on your side of the field whose Level is 5 or higher in order to activate this effect. Reduce the selected monster's Level by 1 and Special Summon this monster from your Graveyard. This card cannot be used as a Tribute except for a Tribute Summon." So right now a few things I see with this card are: This + Tricky + Any Level 4 Tuner = Mist Wurm or any of those other troublesome level 9 Synchros that require 1 Tuner and 2 or more monsters. It also seems like it could have some definite use in a Monarch deck, decrease the level of one Monarch on the field, bring him out and tribute him for another Monarch in your hand. This could be used along with Worm Bait and efficiently get Barbaros's effect off among other ideas. Discuss this card which in my opinion has quite a bit of possibility, just needs to be experiment with first. Edit: I apologize for the huge picture but this is the only current picture of him I can really find since well...he did just come out. And on a random aside, I really love the art for some reason. They obviously are trying to prevent it from being used in a Synchro Summon, but you don't Tribute for those, which is why Mind Control works. Anyway, I don't think this'll be able to be used in Synchro Summons when it's released. Could see some experimental use in Monarchs, but then it'll probably die off and be forgotten. I feel it's being used to stop it from being used in some sort of OTK since if you noticed, the effect can be used multiple times in one turn as long as you have a monster stays above level 5 according to the current wording. This + Yubel + IRS + Mass Driver or Cannon Soldier would have given rise to a new OTK. Also, it'd be rather easy to abuse with THE WORLD and Yubel's first form if you could tribute it under any conditions. Though I like Syncrow's idea and I completely forgot it was CCV fodder until he mentioned it....though he doesn't work with it ;_; Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So Barbaros and Monarch fun is gone but...I already thought of an OTK with it, lol. New Uses: Level Stealer OTK(Yubel + Inferno Reckless Summoning + Mass Driver = Exactly 8000 after you tribute Level Stealer a total of 18 times followed by 2 of the Yubels). This is completely legal for right now as nothing states that the ability can only be used once a turn. WORLD Lock's new buddy as you can simply use those nice 8 Stars on The World to summon 2 Level Stealers. Instant Crush Card Fodder. Tags well with Uru. Can possibly give epic card advantage with Card of Safe Return under the right conditions. This card has some fun uses, I need to see what else I can come up with. I read one version earlier on Shriek that was also on the wiki but then the effect on the wiki changed to the current one so I asked a friend of mine who knows Japanese somewhat to try to translate it for me and he came up with the fact that it CAN'T be used as a tribute for a tribute summon. Though he's no professional so eh...I also believe the no tribute summon way was how it was in the anime, I think. Yes I know the wiki is unreliable but I still find it rather curious that it changed so much. The one on Shriek is probably correct sadly but I kinda hope it's the other way around now. Either way it works, this card still piques my interest way more than most cards have in the past. And if I can use it for OTK shenanigans...Valhalla + Koitsu + IRS + MASS Driver works just as interestingly as the Yubel one. Each Yubel is 10 stars, that means a total of 6 stars you can remove for Level Stealer. You'd sacrifice Level Stealer each time it's brung back for one star. This should be able to be done 18 times as you'll have 18 stars to remove before all the Yubels are level 4 and the effect is invalidated. You then would sacrifice 2 of the Yubels for the last 800 damage. Unless something went incredibly wrong in my counting which I'm pretty sure it did not, that does exactly 8000 damage. But 2 would be sacrificed for Mass Driver. You can take 6 stars from each. 6+6+6 = 18 + The 2 Yubels = 20. 400*20 = 8000...but again, this combo won't work because of it's effect. I like this card.
