When you judge a card, if it's for a contest or anything else, what things do you think are most important? I personally think that all cards need to be balanced, and have decent grammar.

The most important is probably the effect. some people think the picture changes everything. No. It doesn't. That's why there's a "Written Cards" section.

 

Grammar is important as well. So is OCG (Official Card Grammar) which is considered grammar as well.

 

Balance, is good for the "Realistic Cards" section.

 

Keep in mind, though, that cards with great pictures will probably have a better effect.

I agree with ^ you, if the picture is great but the effect and grammer suck, its a horrible card, but I'd say grammer is even more important, because even if you have a great idea for an effect, btu if you can't type in a grammaticly correct way, no one will understand, except you

Effect is definitly the most important in judging-

All are important. Except for the picture unless it really sucks. I personally think OCG is the most important though. Balance comes second, but thats pretty much the relationship between the Effect and the ATK/DEF. I'm pretty harsh when it comes to rating cards. On a 10 point scale, I usually take off a 1 point to 2 points if I see a small wording error or something is spelt wrong. Of course, this is about card effects/flavor text and not how someone types a post.
