Thanks for taking the time to check out this thread. As many of you know, my name is Star, and as many of you may not know, I used to have a very popular Fan-Fiction called “Yu-Gi-Oh! Hidden Legacy”. The Fan-Fiction spanned two seasons, with the third season being ended before I finished it.

Despite the popularity, the Fan-Fiction wasn’t well-written. I had started writing it nearly two years ago, and the idea of re-writing it is one that I just thought of a little while ago. I’ve decided to completely re-write the first season of “Yu-Gi-Oh! Hidden Legacy” while maintaining the original plot. A few cards used may be different, but the character’s personalities while stay the same while being more developed.

For those of you who would like to see the original first season, you can check out these two links:

Episodes 1-25

Episodes 26-30

I’m proud of it not because of the detail/description, but because of how much I liked the plot. While it may be simple, and even cliche, I think it was an enjoyable plot and I think that re-writing it will be fun.

So, thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoy the Fan-Fiction!

Intro

I was told I should add an Intro to give people an idea of what it will be about, so I've decided to do so.

Many times throughout life, people get the idea that overconfidence can lead to one's downfall. But I ask you this; what if someone is so overconfident that they don't allow themselves to lose? What if their determination is strong enough to will them to victory? But then again, even that isn't enough to ensure victory every time.

Riley Storm is a young duelist, who dreams of becoming the Duel Monsters World Champion one day. In Yu-Gi-Oh! Hidden Legacy, you will be taken on a journey unlike any other. See how a group of friends who try to live life just to enjoy it end up having to use every fiber of their being to stay alive. What seems like a cliche storyline is actually an enjoyable read that I guarantee you'll, well, enjoy! Enter the world of Yu-Gi-Oh! Hidden Legacy!

I’m posting this thread now to give people a chance to read the older episodes, and the first “re-vamped” episode will be posted shortly.

Episode 1: Taking the World by Storm!

Riley sat up - both arms stretched out - and yawned. He glanced over at the clock. “Oh great! It’s already ten o’clock! I was supposed to be at the park fifteen minutes ago!” He leapt off the bed - quickly shoving his velvet-eqsue blanket to the side - and went to the closet. He rushed to get dressed, but was still happy with the way he looked upon checking himself in the mirror.

Bright blue hair lined the top of Riley’s head, with a few “spikes” in the front as the first inch or so of his hair was flipped up. Moving down a bit, a red, textless t-shirt covered his upper body, with a white sweatshirt covering that. His deep black jeans and dirt-covered sneakers - formerly a clean white - completed the outfit.

After one last glance, he grabbed his Duel Disk off the table next to his bed and clicked it on his arm. Bleep bleep! The disk’s Life Point Meter lit up; it was on and ready to go. Already late, he dashed out of his bedroom and ran down the stairs to find his parents sitting at the table. They were eating something, but he didn’t have time to stop and figure out what.

“Bye Mom! Bye Dad! See ya later!” His parents turned their attention to the door as their son burst out of it, full of energy. They smiled for a moment before turning their attention back to their meals.

Following three minutes of non-stop running, Riley reached the park where he had told his friends he’d meet them. He stopped at the park entrance to take in the wonder that was Diamond City. Riley had lived in Diamond City all his life, and he could never remember a day when the city wasn’t bustling with people going to work, leaving work, or just doing something entertaining. Diamond City is one of the most well known cities in the entire world because every year it holds the Duel Monsters World Championship in its Diamond Dome, the largest arena in the world. “Man, what an honor it would be to be the World Champion some day.” He shook his head and reminded himself that his friends were waiting inside the park.

Ace and Crystal stood - seemingly impatient - near a stone water fountain in the park. Ace, fifteen years old, looked almost hyper. His dark brown hair went across his head in rows of spikes, and it matched the brown hoodie he was wearing. His blue jeans and black sneakers that looked a little too big completed his outfit, and he looked almost similar to Riley.

Crystal, on the other hand, was sixteen years old; the same age as Riley. Her long brown hair flowed down to her shoulders and she was wearing a pink sweatshirt with a pair of black jeans. Dark pink boots outlined in white fur covered her feet. She smiled - almost reluctantly - as Riley ran up to them.

“Hey dude! What took you so long?” Ace inquired. He wasn’t really sure why he’d bothered to ask; the chances of Riley being on time for something were about as good as the chances of one-hundred dollar bills falling from the sky during a thunderstorm.

“Yeah, really. We’ve been here for like a half-hour.” She stared at him, trying not to smile.

“Sorry guys, but you know me. I tend to oversleep sometimes.” They laughed; Riley wasn’t the kind of person it was easy to be mad at. He just had that outgoing personality that made him fun to be around. “Anyway, I’m here now. Any good duelists around today?”

One of the things Riley and his friends liked to do was walk around the park finding people to duel. They were always looking for ways to improve their Decks in hopes of one day entering the Duel Monsters World Championship. “Not really dude. I played some kid earlier and came close to losing, but that was about it.”

“You started dueling without waiting for me?!” Riley joked.

“Hey I need the practice,” Ace replied, shrugging his shoulders. “Anyway, Crystal’s not really in the mood to duel right now so why don’t you try to find someone?”

“Alright! I’m gonna show you guys how it’s done!” Bursting with excitement, Riley took his Deck out of his pocket and slid it into the Deck Zone on his disk. A beam of light scattered throughout the device as it read the cards in the Deck. “So let’s see, who can I challenge?” They walked down the sidewalk, Riley leading, and shuffled their heads from side to side looking for a duelist who might be up for a game.

“Huh; that’s weird.” Crystal seemed a bit puzzled.

“What’s weird, Crystal?”

“I dunno; it’s just that pretty much everyone here is either dueling or eating. I wonder if you’ll be able to find an opponent.” Crystal seemed almost emotionless at the moment. It wasn’t that she was shocked, but almost confused. It was a Saturday, and there was almost no one at the park willing to duel. A rare occurrence no doubt.

“It’s cause they’re all scared to face me!” Riley grinned. Ace sighed jokingly. Riley had an overconfidence issue at times. More often than not, he saw himself as better than his opponents. While it was annoying sometimes, Ace and Crystal felt that - basically - it made him who he was. One thing about Riley that's rather important to know is that he takes dueling very seriously. More often than not, he does find a way to win, but he doesn't handle losing too well.

"I'll play a game." The three stopped in their tracks as a voice came from out of nowhere. Riley looked around, trying to discover the source, but was unable to until a man stepped out from behind a tree. On second thought, he was more of a kid than a man. He looked to be about eighteen, maybe nineteen years old. Dark clothing - mainly black - lined his body and a dark black cloak hid his face. A black "Duel Academy" Duel Disk - already activated - was on his arm.

"Who...who're you?" Riley wasn't so much concerned with who his opponent was, but he figured it didn't hurt to ask. They stood in silence for a good minute as the man seemed to be examining them.

"My name is unimportant. For the sake of the duel, you can call me Shadow." Despite the man's age, he had a rather deep, stern voice; it was almost intimidating. "Now then, shall we duel?"

"Shadow, eh?" Riley gave a look that suggested he was contemplating the duel. "Sure, why not?" He smiled, and Shadow's face remained a mystery as the cloak hid it completely.

"Very well then. Why don't you go ahead and make the first move?" They walked past the trees to an open, grassy area where they could duel, and activated their Duel Disks.

"Game on!" Both duelists shouted before drawing their starting hands.

"There's something weird about this guy. I'm not sure what, but I can just feel it." Ace watched from a few feet away with a look of concern that soon vanished as Crystal turned her attention to him.

"You think he can win?" Crystal had seen Riley duel many times, and she was never surprised to see him win a duel, despite any odds that may have been stacked against him. Still, it was interesting to contemplate the possibility of the duel going either way.

"Yeah...I guess so." Ace seemed almost reluctant with his response, and Crystal picked up on it.

"Is something wrong?" A genuine look of concern lined her face as she continued to stare at her friend. It wasn't often that Ace looked the way he did now.

"No...nothing. I'm fine. Let's just watch the duel." With that, they both turned their attention to the field as Riley drew his sixth card.

"Let's go!" As Riley placed the sixth card into his hand, he took a moment to examine the playing possibilites. Making the first move was - more often than not - an opportunity to gain control of the duel before it really started. He looked up from his hand at his opponent. He just seemed so mysterious. It was useless trying to figure him out, though. He couldn't tell what he looked like and it was obvious that he didn't want to give away any information, so it was a waste of time. "Man, something's weird here. Judging by his figure, this guy's just a kid, yet his voice and the way he speaks makes him seem a lot older." He shook his head. "Whatever. It's not important. I've just gotta focus on winning. How tough can he be, anyway?" Riley took a card from his hand and placed it in an empty Monster Card Zone. "Let's get started! I Summon Stone Soldier (1000/0) in Attack Mode!" Shadow remained still as a small golem made of sedimentary rock emerged from the card. It leapt in the air, flipped forward, and landed on its feet confidently.

"Impressive. Not nearly impressive enough, but it's surely a start." Shadow continued to speak with no emotion. While he might have been truly impressed, his voice suggested otherwise.

"I'd like to see you do better!" Riley shouted, smiling. The overconfidence had kicked in already.

"I assure you, I will." Shadow's calm manner of speaking annoyed Riley, and it was noticeable due to the look of frustration on his face.

"We'll just see about that! I'll Set two face-downs and call it a turn!"

"It seems like Riley's gotten off to a good start. Let's see what this Shadow guy brings to the table." Ace's focus was solely on the duel. He wanted to see just what was giving him this weird feeling. It might be nothing; he could be overreacting.

"I think I'll start things off by discarding Arlank, Guide of Dark World (800/200)." Riley couldn't get a good look at the card as Shadow wasted little time sending it to the Grave.

"You're just going to waste your monster like that?"

"Don't be foolish." Shadow let loose a quiet laugh. "By discarding Arlank, I'm allowed to discard a Dark World monster from my hand."

"Wait, what? You're discarding a monster so that you can discard another monster? That makes no sense." Riley was confused now. What exactly was this guy trying to accomplish?

"Hold on a second! Dark World monsters! I've heard of them before!" Crystal looked at Ace curiously as he continued to speak. "See, here's how they work. When they're discarded from the hand by a Card Effect, they get Summoned to the field automatically. Some of them even get Special Effects after that."

"Oh, so that's why he discarded that Arlank monster. So that he could Special Summon one of his powerful Dark World monsters." She understood it now; Riley could be in trouble.

"Exactly. This is going to be a challenge for Riley. He doesn't know anything about Dark World monsters, and he's never faced them before. He needs to stay focused now more than ever if he wants to win."

"It makes perfect sense. Especially when the monster I'm going to discard is Sillva, Warlord of Dark World (2300/1400)!" A bolt of lightning struck the field as a silver fiend emerged on the field. What looked like wings spread from its sides and a sharp dagger materialized in its left hand. It let out a large roar; as if its presence wasn't striking enough.

"What in the world?! How did you do that?!" That had to be against the rules. You couldn't just discard a monster and Summon it to the field. Everyone knew that. What was this guy trying to pull?

"While you were spending your time gloating, you could have taken the time to realize the effect of my Dark World monster. You see, when Sillva is discarded by a Card Effect, he gets Summoned to my field automatically. As I said, I plan on making moves much bigger than Summoning a miniscule rock with legs." Shadow spoke with intimidating determination. Riley knew he meant business.

"I guess I underestimated this guy a bit. Not that I think I'm going to lose, but I'm going to have to try a bit harder to make sure that doesn't happen. I might have underestimated you before, but now that I know your strategy, I'll win this easy!"

"I don't think easy is the word you're looking for. Dark World monsters are one of the more powerful Archetypes in the game of Duel Monsters. Riley, you've never dueled someone as good as this guy, and I don't know if you're going to be able to win." Ace looked concerned. Crystal stared at him, almost confused. She had never seen him like this before.

"Sillva!" Shadow extended his arm. "Attack his Stone Golem with Shifting Shadow Slash!" The fiend leapt in the air and a shadow encased its dagger. The golem didn't stand a chance as the dagger pierced through it, cutting it in half and causing it to explode into pixels. It let loose a shriek before disappearing.

- Riley's Life Points: (-1300) 2700

-Shadow's Life Points: 4000

"Aah!" Riley felt a piercing pain in his side, but tried not to draw attention to it although it had completely taken the wind out of him. He managed to keep his balance. "That the best you got?!"

"Haha," Shadow laughed again. "Something wrong? I thought you were going to win this easy?" Shadow seemed to be trying to get under Riley's skin, and it was working.

"The..." the pain from earlier had left some damage in his rib area. "Then your thinking is correct! I'm not gonna lose to someone like you! You don't even know who I am pal!"

"I know far more than you seem to think, foolish child. Very well then. I'll end my turn with one face-down card." Shadow placed a card in his Duel Disk and a larger version of it appeared on the field. He nodded and Riley drew a card.

He looked at the card he drew. "Dimensional Alchemist, nice! Just the card I needed at a time like this!" A smile, one likely out of confidence, appeared on his face. "You may have gotten the better of me last turn, but this time it's my turn to teach you a thing or two! I Summon Dimensional Alchemist (1300/200) in Attack Mode!" A large beam of light exploded from the monster card and out of it came a large, silver armor-clad warrior. It was about the size of an adult human and strands of blue cloth lined its shoulders. Its golden arms stood in front, ready to strike at a moment's notice. "Who's the tough one now?!"

"Sorry to disappoint, but your monster doesn't have what it takes to rid the field of my powerful fiend."

"You of all people should know that a monster's effect can be a game-changer!" Shadow seemed taken aback by Riley's statement, but it was hard to tell as his face remained hidden behind the cloak.

"Explain yourself," Shadow demanded.

"Thanks to Dimensional Alchemist's Special Ability, I can remove from play the top card of my Deck to boost its attack points by five-hundred!" Riley smiled with excitement as he quickly took a card from the top of his Deck and placed it in his pocket.

"Wait, Ace, that's still not enough attack points to take out Shadow's monster! Why is Riley all excited all of the sudden?"

"You just watch Crystal; he's gonna pull through here." Ace's look of concern had quickly changed to one of anticipation. "You never fail to disappoint, Riley. I didn't expect you to win here, but now I see what you've got planned."

"Even eighteen-hundred attack points isn't enough to take my monster out. You've still got a lot to learn, kid."

"You're the one who needs to learn something! You need to learn--that I don't like to lose! And if I was going to, it certainly wouldn't be to someone like you! I mean seriously, your ego is bigger than your monster over there! Enough playing around, though! It's time to put an end to this! I play the Spell Card Dimension Whirlwind!" A Continuous Spell Card appeared on Riley's field. Bright blue gusts of wind emerged from it and blew around the field. They surrounded Riley's Dimensional Alchemist, and it seemed to grow stronger.

"What in the world?", Shadow kept his cool, but seemed intimidated by the card at the same time. "What exactly does that card do?"

"While Dimension Whirlwind is in play, the attack of any "remove(d) from play" monster on my field is automatically doubled! That includes my Dimensional Alchemist, which means its attack is now thirty-six hundred!" The creature used its hands to bring the blue gusts of winds down toward itself and formed them into a large orb. "Teach this guy a thing or two about confidence! Dimensional Alchemist; attack with Wind Sphere!"

Seconds later, the orb crashed into the large fiend and it exploded, much to the obvious disappointment of Shadow.

-Riley's Life Points: 2700

-Shadow's Life Points (-1300) 2700

"Sweet! He took out Shadow's monster!" Crystal exclaimed. Ace just watched quietly.

"Interesting. Now if only he can get through my next monster, we'll be making some progress. Nice move," Shadow clapped mockingly. "I take it you're finished?"

"I'll end my turn now, but come next turn, it's game over for you!"

"If things work out the way I want them to, this will be my last turn. Let's just hope this kid is the person I'm looking for." Shadow drew a card and placed it on the field. "I activate the Spell Card Dark Temptation! With this card, you're going to decide your own fate." Shadow laughed. "You see, I'm going to select two random cards from my hand, and show them to you. You're going to choose one, and I'm going to keep the other." He continued. "Then, during your Standby Phase, we're going to show our cards to each other. If they are both monster cards, you lose all cards in your hand and I get my cards back. If they're not, then all cards on the field and in both of our hands are sent to the Graveyard."

"D*mn; that's not good." Ace looked at Crystal, then back at the duel.

"So, Riley, choose a card." Shadow selected two cards and they appeared on the field.

"I don't think so." Riley was one-hundred percent serious. He stared at his opponent with fierce intensity.

"What...what are you talking about?"

"I prefer to win games my way, thank you very much!" Riley extended his hand and one of his two-face down cards flipped up. "I play Reverse Arrow!" An arrow made of blue energy shot out of the card and right through Shadow's Dark Temptation Spell Card, destroying it in the process.

"What did you do?!"

"See," He grinned. "Reverse Arrow has the ability to negate any one of your Spell Cards and destroy it! Then, both of us get to take a "remove(d) from play" monster from our Decks and add it to our hands!"

"I don't have one!" Shadow said angrily.

"Sucks to be you, because I've got tons of em'! And right now, the one I'm going to choose, is my Caius the Shadow Monarch!" Quickly shuffling through his Deck, Riley selected a card and placed it in his hand.

"It's game over for you, pal." Ace stared at Shadow, knowing he was out of options.

"Argh...I guess I have no choice but to end my turn, then."

Riley drew a card and looked at the field. All Shadow had was one face-down, and it couldnt've been that devastating. Still, he had the game won and he didn't want to take any chances. That's why he needed to Summon Caius.

"I've still got my face-down card. When he attacks, I'll activate it and it'll be game over. I guess he isn't the person I was looking for after all."

"Let's put an end to this duel! I'm gonna Tribute up my Dimensional Alchemist to bring out--Caius the Shadow Monarch (2400/1000)!" A warrior in dark purple armor emerged on the field. It towered over both Riley and Shadow, yet Shadow seemed unphased by it. A ball of energy shot from its hand and merged with Shadow's face-down card, removing it from the field..

"What the?!"

"Impressed yet?! When Caius is Summoned, I can remove from play any card on the field! I decided that your face-down would be a great choice!"

"Remove from play? That means!"

"Right! Caius' attack points are doubled from the ability of my Dimension Whirlwind! Forty-eight hundred is more than enough to take you out! Caius, end this with Nightmare Flash! An purple orb of energy formed in Caius' hands and the large warrior threw it across the field. It crashed into Shadow, putting an end to the duel and creating some smoke in the process.

-Riley's Life Points: 2700

-Shadow's Life Points: 0

When the smoke cleared, Riley, Ace, and Crystal walked over to Shadow. There was one problem; he wasn't there. In his place was a card. The card was face-down, and Riley picked it up. He turned it over to see what it was, but it was completely white.

"Nice job, Riley! You were great!" Crystal smiled. She was proud of him.

"Yeah...thanks." Riley stood - as did Ace - silently. This didn't add up, and they had the feeling that it was just the beginning.

Pretty good, considering I can't quite compare it to the old one I never read. Your strong points are description and comparison, am I right? But there's just one error... I just looked up Kuraz and he cannot REMOVE cards, just DESTROY them. http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Trivia:Kuraz_the_Light_Monarch

Will you have to make a switch with another monster?

I try to be descriptive, but it's not easy for me. What exactly do you mean by comparison?

Click that first link in the first post and read the first episode. It'll literally take you like less than a minute. You'll see how much better this one is.

Oh, I mean comparing stuff. I saw that being used at least once. But I edited my post a second or two after you replied, I think. Look at the "Kuraz" problem I had.

Something I do in Fan-Fics occasionally is slightly modify the effects of cards so that they fit into the duel scenario. This was one of those cases.

Preview for Episode 2 (Showdown in the Sanctuary): After defeating a man named Shadow, Riley stumbled upon what he assumed was a card. The card, however, turned out to be completely blank. Add that to the fact that Shadow disappeared after the duel and you've got equation that doesn't add up.

To take his mind off of what was probably just confusion, Riley challenges Crystal to a duel. In their last encounter, Riley was able to defeat Crystal, but barely. Can he win more easily this time just minutes after taking part in what was probably his most challenging duel yet?

Eh' date=' add me into the subbers.

But really, Star, modyfing effects is kinda stupid =/ But since it's your Fan Fic, it's your rules.

1st ep seem'd nice.

Added.

I've edited the first episode so that Riley Summons Caius the Shadow Monarch instead of Kuraz the Light Monarch.

Some things that caught my attention:

-You kinda start the chapter off weird, because it really shoves itself down your throat. Building up to the jump-out of bed would be nice.

-Don't describe the character all at once. Feed it out a bit at a time.

-The "bleep" annoyed me; it cut off the flow of the story.

-When describing the city, show, don't tell.

-Crystal's a cliched name; it's been used too much. Sorry.

I'll review more in a bit; I have to go prepare dinner. D:

Sorry; description's really not one of my strong points.

I know it's terrible, but I couldn't think of a better sound to use.

Wha?

-Crystal's a cliched name; it's been used too much. Sorry.

Yes, but this is a Re-Vamp of a Fan-Fiction I wrote in 2007; I didn't want to change around any of the characters.

Okay, looking forward to it.

This is what I mean. Save this little tidbit for later, and add it in when the characters actually go there. You could have them remember some of the past tournaments, for example.
