If anything, I'm more bothered by how casually he's treating Shikamaru dying. Neji got a tragic, but certainly meaningful, sendoff, while Shikamaru isn't get as dignified a death. Sure, he's getting more respect than all the nameless shinobi, but all I can feel is a silent anger as I grit my teeth, because if Shikamaru were to die, he sure doesn't deserve to go like this. He seems to still be holding on, but the fact that Kishimoto wants to think he's going to die while we get this careless presentation of it just annoys me.

I wouldn't worry Roxas, I think you're just suffering symptoms from what I like to call the Superior Spider-Man Syndrome.

When something very major happens to one's beloved character that could alter the status quo, they become highly protective and obsessed in hoping that the opposite event occurs.

Shikamaru's one of the more popular characters, if he were going to die, he'd die epically.

I have a feeling he'll make the rebound and come up with a plan to take the tree down.

Since you bring it up, Superior Spider-Man needs to die in a fire.

I agree, though. The lack of "epicness" is what has me convinced that Shikamaru is going to make it out of here alive and marry Temari and have wonderful babies and wait I kind of lost track there for a second. Anyway, he might have a near death experience similar to Kakashi, where he'll meet his dad, and that will prompt him to come up with a plan.

But if Shikamaru does die, at least it will still be more dignified than how Dan Slott made Peter Parker go out like a punk.

I don't think any of the guys who had their chakra drained are dead. When they down the ten tails they will all come back.

But yea, chapter was ok. Like I get why they all lost faith, but they are have been dead weight since they did the giant combo attack WAY back when. Naruto's emotions being filtering into everyone also felt overly sentimental. Still, at least people are to distracted to think "why was Naruto remembering Itachi so fondly?"

That seems like a plausible outcome.

And I have to agree with everything so far that it was just an alright chapter. It's good for everyone to see into Naruto's heart and just see how dedicated he is to going through with this fight either to the bitter end or the glorious victory . . .

Am I the only one that laughed at Sasuke chopping down a part of the tree?

Maybe it was just because when I saw it my mind immediately shouted, "PAUL BUNYAN~!"

I'd say Naruto should use the biggest Rasenshuriken possible, but Obito could just teleport the God Tree back into the Kamui dimension. Although Kakashi is still there, and now that Orochimaru and the Kages are on their way to the battlefield, Kakashi is literally the last person that needs to get (back) to the battlefield. Unless Anko and/or Yamato randomly recover, but I find that unlikely, although we do need some closure on Zetsu.

Obito stated in an earlier chapter that he can't use Kamui while he has the Juubi inside of him, so there's no way for him to avoid unavoidable attacks. It's probably because his dojutsu is an extension of ninjutsu, which as we all know doesn't affect the Shinju.

Not sure how I feel about the Curse Mark actually being Senjutsu,

It was revealed quite a while ago, actually, when Kabutomaru explained about Juugo's unnatural powers and the origin of the Cursed Mark. And as soon as I heard that the Juubi could only be harmed by Senjutsu, I kinda foresaw Sasuke doing something along these lines from the start. Although, combining it with the Susanoo did surprise me.

It was nice seeing the original Kages. I wonder what sort of compromise they settled upon during that meeting, and how the Hidden Sand Village eventually solved their problem.  I also wonder if, somewhere deep in Hashirama's heart, he might've been embarrassed about showing to everyone how he used to be bossed around by his younger brother?

That was interesting to see the original Gokage and I've decided Hashirama's somewhere in my top 10 (for this series at least).

Now that you mention it, Kabuto did kinda tell us Jugo's curse mark was senjutsu...so I can buy it being combined with Sasuke.

It would've been better if he never lost it in the first place >.>

YAAAAAAAAY! I'm glad that Shikamaru is determined to be Naruto's adviser, because that's exactly what I was hoping he'd be at the end of the series. Of course, Team 8 always wants to be competing for something. Would have liked it if we saw Temari, but that's just me.

Glad we finally got to see what Kakashi was doing, and I think we got a good reason for why he hadn't come back yet. I imagine next week's chapter will end with him getting out of the Kamui dimension.
