I don't think Madara is outright evil. Most main villains in the Narutoverse aren't outright evil, having a more... twisted view of good and/or not caring about how they pursue it.

Nagato should be obvious, Obito's trying to end pain because he believes nothing good comes out of reality, and I assume Madara's going for a similar goal. The only main that I can truly call evil is Orochimaru, and I'm not even sure that fits him anymore. Hashirama already said that the problem with the Uchiha is that their emotions run way too high, so it's likely he overloaded on pain and loss and felt that restarting from scratch would be better,

Even Sasuke wasn't so much evil as chasing vengeance for his clan. Yes, he became... dark, per se, but he was never "evil", just pursuing what he felt was righteous judgment.

Hashirama killing Izuna....hmmm...I doubt that, but not completely. I'm thinking that maybe it was Tobirama who would've killed Izuna instead, Madara becomes what he is now (present) due to his brother's loss but obtains his eyes, goes nuts and seeks out power in order to attempt revenge (Sasuke moment), and eventually leads up to what has happened.

Orochimaru didn't care about the state of the world or his 'friends' and 'allies', nor the many tens of thousands of ten thousands of lives he ruined. All he cared about was learning all the jutsu in the world, and not even the death and corruption of cute little kids stopped him - so he's evil. The only evil guy around.

Naruto is basically a series of a******s whose actions are due to other a******s who all have good intentions, sans Part 1 Orochimaru.

You summed it up perfectly. To teach us a lesson about the consequences of our 'benevolent' actions.

[spoiler=About the filler last week, I lied]

The "Underworld" is just some super-barrier that no one can get out of unless someone comes and gives chakra like genjutsu disruption.

So basically, Naruto's going to bail them out in an episode or two.

Not much inspiring action this week either. What really bugs me is how Studio Pierrot's being lazy with this arc when we know they can do better after seeing Chikara.

That makes sense why Madara ended up cementing his hatred then.

And obviously Hashirama won't listen to what he says. He goes on to form the Hidden Leaf as their First Hokage with his brother following him.

What I realized after reading was that the last battle in the chapter wasn't the Final Valley one, that comes later.

But good stuff, I'm still very invested in this flashback.
