Eh, at least we got more info in this chapter than usual. Definately sad to see Itama die, I liked him. Welp, wonder how long it'll take for Hashirama to meet Madara on the battlefield for the first time and then not fight each other.

I wonder if Itama's death was one of the reasons why Tobirama grew up to view the Uchiha the way he did.

So… must ALL of the Senju have their names end in "ama"?

I'm very curious as how to Izuna fits into all of this. Is Madara neglecting to mention Izuna, does he not know about him, or are we misinterpreting it and that Izuna is the only brother alive? IZUNA CONFIRMED FOR FINAL VILLAIN.

At least their names aren't all obnoxious vegetable puns.

I guess their mom has a sense of humor, seeing as their dad has a stick up his bum.

Itama's hair was awesome... j/s

He looks like he'd fit in well in Yu-Gi-Oh! world.

WHY DO THEY KEEP DOING FILLER!!!! I mean come on, we are over 60 chapters back, just keep going.

It doesn't seem that far to me. If they hadn't been doing filler, Kabutomaru will already be defeated by now and they'd be almost done with the Tobi vs Naruto battle, upon which we'd hit the Juubi battle and boom, the anime went too far and hit a dead end. You shouldn't underestimate the amount of chapters one episode might cover.

Besides, viewers. And for the sake of the simple-minded's admiration over them.

I bet they'll make a Naruto Shippuden Kai when they're done.

Assuming 2 chapters = 1 episode we have 30 weeks worth of time. In that time we add on another 15 episodes. Then we get another 7 and so on. IMO we have about a year before the anime is right next to the manga and their is a reasonable chance the series will end by then.

Studio Pierrot might also be paranoid about what happened with Bleach and doesn't want the same to happen to Naruto.

I was under the impression that Bleach's never ending filler was hurting it. I mean of the +500 episodes of Naruto I'd say close to 40% of it is filler.

The way they handled filler for the two was different from what I can see.

For Bleach, they made a filler arc whenever the anime got too close to the manga and they needed to buy time for the manga to get ahead, hence the rude interruptions throughout the Hueco Mundo adventure. And practically every episode started with a 5 minute rehash of what happened in the previous episode.

For Naruto, they do filler wherever it can fit in the main story, presumably to avoid running into the same situation that Bleach had.

As for me, I don't really mind filler so long as it's good. And lately, Naruto filler's been entertaining with the Chikara arc, Kakashi fighting Legendary Mist Swordsmen, Deidara being mischievous, and now we can see a rematch between the Konoha Krew vs the Sound Five and see for ourselves how much progress they made over 3 years.

Yea, thats fair. However I would argue not all of the filler has worked, but they have been a lot better with it.

I think One Piece has spoiled me since they almost never have filler episodes. It comes at a cost of some filler in the normal episodes and a long intro but I'd rather have that then an a whole episode that is basically irrelevant.

Yeah, Toei Animation's able to extend a whole chapter into an episode, which has worked well for them, though the catch is One Piece's pacing's a bit bogged down because of it. Though anyone watching the new episodes obviously doesn't really care strongly about that, so I'd say that's the best way to handle a long, ongoing anime.

For Naruto, I just kind of wished they extended some fights in the war, kinda like they did at the start of Sasuke vs Danzo or for Hinata vs Pain.

Ah, so the names just have "ma". Close enough.

I should have anticipated that Tobirama and Izuna would be rivals, and the same goes for their fathers. Sounds interesting, but I hope we can wrap up this flashbackception sometime this month. We're already in too deep, so can we at least get back to the battle at the Valley of the End?

The bad translation was distracting.

Yay, ancient ninjutsu fight next chapter. That'll be lovely.

Mangastream's out already though.

That was pretty good; didn't actually expect Tobirama and Izuna to have a thing with each other, but I guess it fits.

And again, liking the Hashirama-Madara dynamic. Wonder what will end up severing the ties between the two...
