Think of it like this. The eye is a grape, the head is a box. It is possible, although not likely, for the box to be crushed without the grape being completely destroyed, as long as the box wasn't completely flattened.

The small the box the more likely the content gets crushed. The skull and its relationship to where the eye is makes it a very small box.

Either way, I'm pretty sure Zetsu cells could regenerate the crushed skull and eye.

If my Rin theory holds up, that also gives Obito a start to his downward spiral.

Though I'm really hoping this whole thing wasn't started over Rin.

Well seeing as how everything in that flashback involved Rin for the most part she seems to be part of his motivation.

Obito was always late, not strong, yet still boasted of his bloodline. I can't help but picture his home life to be filled with abuse.

That is very possible. I mean Sasuke seemed a little damage with his inferiority complex he had with his brother and how their parents seemed to favor him.

But him wanting world domination just doesn't fit with his heroic sacrifice. I'm still hoping that it's someone controlling Obito's body. Tobi said his goal was to become complete, which could mean that he doesn't have a body of his own and had to possess Obito to stay alive, but also didn't anyone who could recognize Obito to interfere with his plans. As such, the Ten-Tails will become his new body.

Of course, that leaves the question of who is possessing Obito, because I still like that theory.

My only problem with that is it'd be stealing Orochimaru's schtick.

Which I guess would make sense since it's obvious Orochimaru's involved with the root of this old thing, but still. It also might be interesting if it is Obito and we're seeing just what made him so corrupt.

New chapter:

[spoiler=Chapter thoughts]

It seems to actually be Obito! Yes! But that's why he's doing all of this?! Because Kakashi let Rin die? I guess it makes sense. You die to protect your best friend. Leave the woman you love in your best friends hands. Best friend lets the woman you love die.

Madara knows Obito... how...? Can't wait for this fight. It's probably going to be Bee/Gai/Kakashi v Obito and Naruto v Madara.

It could be him. People can get really messed up over the course of a few years. Just look at Sasuke. He was all happy and nice before he went emo.

Yeah, but that was before his brother was forced to slaughter his entire clan and family.

Hey, guys. What if Obito's situation is like Jason Todd's situtation from Batman? He was the second Robin and he was killed by the Joker. Ra's Al Ghul, who stays young by bathing in a thing called the Lazerus Pit, hired the Joker but did not know that he was going to kill him. As pentance, Ra's used the pit to bring the decieced Robin back to life but he was "messed up" and evil. He was a good kid although he had a dark side to begin with. One of the things he says to Batman after being braught back is something like, "Does it make you feel better to think that Ra's little pool turned me rabid? or was this just the real me all along?"

600th chapter and half of it's Gaiden flashbacks?

Meh.

Also, he didn't directly say this was ALL over Rin. It's just that he didn't return to Konoha because of that...which probably won't be bought well.

Well, at least it looks like sh*t is going down. I'm hoping the Kages catch up with this fight, unless they're...

There's still this.

As much as people hate Jason Todd, and I don't want the characters to be compared with on another, I have to admit that that is unfortunately a good theory.

Chill out guys. Love can make people do some pretty crazy things. Plus, we still haven't heard the actual explanation.

But hey, if you want the plot twists to make more sense, you're reading the wrong manga.

No seriously, go read One Piece.

What do you mean "chill out"? We're not excited in the slightest.

Or you can quit insulting it and wait for the creators to fill in the holes.

One Piece is an interesting story but I would spend my time reading nor watching it.
