Lol I was saying that same thing... His visual jutsu would have been the best. Obito is boss

But wait... If Kakashi has Obito's other eye, shouldn't he be able to phase through things like Tobi? Or does it depend on how he uses it?

EACH eye has specific powers.

For example, I think Itachi's left was Tsuku, right was Ama, and both were Susanoo. I know they're distributed between, just not sure which way.

Kakashi's eye is limited only by what he sees, apparently. He can focus just like Tobi, but he ends up doing it a little violently, like how he ripped off Deidara's arm. With more focus he managed to take out a missile aimed at Choji though.

Perhaps Tobi has some strange ability to 'see himself', but how is a mystery.

Another thing, why isn't Kakashi going blind in his one MS eye?

Alternately, it could be because he took the eye, technically.

I mean, it's an eye that's not his, that was transplanted in. It could have fewer drawbacks due to that.

Maybe it had something to do with what Itachi said a while back about Sasuke only being able to get sronger by killing the one closest to him or something only it was Obito and Kakashi.

The former was the key to unlocking Mangekyou.

Well it has the Kamui ability, and that's the Kekkei Genkai of Obito's eye.

And I thought the blindness was a result of the usage of the eye individually and not a blood drawback

It is, hence my thoughts being that it has to do with it not being HIS eye. The transplant might have something to do with the lack of blindness. I mean, Danzo wasn't blind either, but he could only use his in a seriously long down time.

Yeah this is probably the only logical explanation.

Tobi probably has another power, sorta like Izanami and Izanagi, but without the cost.

Maybe, but it seems that the power's linked with Kakashi's Kamui. Wouldn't the correlation imply that Tobi's power is also an MS power?

Or maybe with Kakashi not possessing Uchiha blood, he's forced to unlock Mangekyo for what normal users can do?

[spoiler=Another crazy Tobi theory]

We've scoffed at it before, but what if Tobi is Future Sasuke?

Sasuke's mind has always been screwed up. And after this fight with Itachi, it's made him even more confused and in search of the truth.

Now look at Tobi. He sees himself as no one and living in a world that will never come to peace. Wouldn't Sasuke's mindset come to reach this conclusion once he's hunted by the whole world? Rather than just the Hidden Leaf, the whole world is to blame for Itachi's downfall, so he sets about with the Moon's Eye to force world peace on the world, the peace that Itachi always wanted, but could never enjoy.

Tobi knows Sasuke really well. He manipulates his mind to and fro because he's lived it before.

That'd also explain how he knew Kakashi well enough to make a jab at him.

It'd also explain his progress from ignoring Naruto to considering him as a major threat.

Time travel would enable him to grab Obito's eye and to plan with Madara.

HOWEVER, there are some weak points to this. Why would Sasuke help Itachi kill the clan?

Perhaps seeing it as a necessary sacrifice for the world's future, and for his own development as a shinobi. Though it still seems like an extremity that he would never take.

And there's also a missing explanation for how he lost all his prowess and practically became a different person.

I'd say this is my 2nd choice for Tobi's identity after the elder son.

[spoiler=And this lame one]

Tobi's just a Zetsu that lived on as Madara's clone, carrying on his work until this point.

Though that'd be lame.

Seriously, the fact that Sasuke wouldn't kill his clan is what kills the theory. If he could travel back in time, wouldn't he have tried to stop it from happening, or is it something that he must do because of some paradox? How is it that Tobi never showed the powers that Sasuke had, and was even surprised that Sasuke was able to summon hawks? A future version of someone must have known everything their past self did, and if they forgot, when they see their past selves do that, they'll remember that they did that.

Time travel always made my head hurt; if anything, I'd say it's to prevent a time paradox.

Unless

Unless the "them" Orochimaru is taking Sasuke to is the Uchiha clan.

And their deaths were an illusion created by Izanagi.

And this whole thing was orchestrated to allow the Uchiha's their rightful dominance.

I realize this is getting silly, but I'm just throwing random ideas out right now in case someone could make something concrete out of them.

That's, not entirely impossible. They kept building the whole, "change reality" aspect of the ultimate genjutsus, so maybe it's foreshadowing.
