Hello, everyone. It's been quite a while since I've perused YCM's delightful forums, and the first time that I use this one. Still, I'm confident that I'll find good reviews and suggestions from all of you. If you would like to help and have any images that you find suitable, don't hesitate to contact me via PM.

NOTE: This set concept was designed months before the release of the Reptiless archetype monsters in Stardust Overdrive.

===

Gorgoness / Reptile Set

Explanation:

The set mainly focuses on the Special Summoning of several Reptile-Type monsters from the Deck; in doing so, several of them gain powerful effects that can turn the tide of a Duel in your favor. The set also includes the three Ritual Monsters, the Gorgoness Sisters, Medusa, Euryale, and Stheno, each of whom has a powerful effect that activates by removing a Reptile-Type monster in the Graveyard from play. Although the boss monsters of the set are Ritual Monsters, several other elements, such as the Serpentine monsters, are key to victory.

[spoiler=Monster Cards]

Gem Serpents

Explanation:

There are four Gem Serpents in total, and each one is specifically designed to produce advantage to the player in a certain area when it is Special Summoned from the Deck.

Diamond-Head Cobra

ATK 1300/DEF 1100

When this card is Special Summoned from your Deck, you can destroy 1 monster your opponent controls.

Emerald-Eye Viper

Level 3

DARK

Reptile-Type/Effect

ATK 1100/DEF 900

When this card is Special Summoned from your Deck, you can destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card your opponent controls.

Ruby-Tail Python

Level 2

Reptile-Type/Effect

ATK 900/DEF 700

When this card is Special Summoned from your Deck, you can select 1 monster your opponent controls. The ATK and DEF of the selected monster become 0.

Value Serpent

Level 2

DARK

Reptile-Type/Effect

DARK

ATK 800/DEF 800

When this card is Special Summoned from your Deck, you can draw 1 card.

Serpentine Monsters & Miscellaneous

Explanation:

There are several cards that greatly benefit the player when used in conjunction with the “Gem” Serpents. While their effects may seem fairly straight-forward, they can lead to several complex and useful combinations.

Venomous Dame

Level 4

DARK

Reptile-Type/Effect

ATK 1600/DEF 1200

When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Reptile-Type monster from your Deck.

Gorgon’s Guard Serpent

Level 3

DARK

Reptile-Type/Effect

ATK 500/DEF 2000

You can return this card in your Graveyard to your Deck to negate 1 attack.

Serpentine Enchanter

Level 4

DARK

Reptile-Type/Effect

ATK 1200/DEF 1800

When this card is Summoned, switch it to face-up Defense Position. Once per turn, you can discard 1 card from your hand to Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Reptile-Type monster from your Deck, (except "Serpentine Enchanter"). A monster(s) Special Summoned by this effect cannot attack during the turn it was Summoned.

Serpentine Dragon

Level 7

DARK

Reptile-Type/Effect

ATK 2300/DEF 1600

You can tribute 1 Reptile-Type monster you control to Special Summon this card from your hand. You can remove 1 Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to activate one of the following effects: • Destroy up to 2 Spell or Trap Cards your opponent controls. • Select 1 face-up monster your opponent controls and make its ATK and DEF 0.

The Gorgoness Sisters & Obsidian Oroboros

Explanation:

The highlight of the Gorgon Deck—a series of three powerful Ritual Monsters with unique effects that activate by removing a Reptile-Type monster in the Graveyard from play. Each one of the three Gorgonesses has an individual effect that drops the DEF of the opponent’s monsters to 0, which in turn activates Gorgon’s Lair. Cards like Snake Garden help keep this steady supply of Graveyard Reptile-Type monsters constant, while Obsidian Oroboros fetches the Ritual Spell that the three Sisters share.

Gorgoness Stheno

Level 6

DARK

Reptile-Type/Ritual/Effect

ATK 1600/DEF 2200

This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Gorgon's Blood Ritual". You can remove 1 Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to switch the battle position of 1 monster your opponent controls (Flip Effects are not activated) and make its DEF 0. Negate the effect(s) of a monster(s) whose battle position is switched by this effect. A monster(s) whose battle position is switched by this effect cannot change its battle position.

Gorgoness Euryale

Level 6

DARK

Reptile-Type/Ritual/Effect

ATK 2000/DEF 1800

This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Gorgon's Blood Ritual". When this card battles with an opponent's monster, you can remove 1 Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to make that monster's ATK and DEF 0 until the End Phase.

Gorgoness Medusa

Level 8

DARK

Reptile-Type/Ritual/Effect

ATK 2600/DEF 2100

This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Gorgon's Blood Ritual". When this card is Ritual Summoned, you can select 1 monster your opponent controls and make its ATK and DEF 0. When this card is selected as the target of a card effect your opponent controls, you can remove 1 Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to negate that effect and destroy that card.

Obsidian Oroboros

Level 3

DARK

Reptile-Type/Effect

ATK 800/800

When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned, you can add 1 "Gorgon's Blood Ritual" from your Deck to your hand.

[spoiler=Spell and Trap Cards]

Gorgon's Lair & Snake Garden

Explanation:

There is a Field Spell-Continuous Spell Card combo that greatly increases the potency of the three Gorgoness Ritual Monsters and Serpentine Dragon. Gorgon’s Lair aids the player in other ways, namely with Ruby-Tail Python, the placement of Stone Counters, and destroying the opponent’s weaker monsters. The Snake Garden Field Spell helps maintain a constant slew of Snakes, albeit it at a minor cost. An extremely useful set of cards to have.

Gorgon’s Lair

Continuous Spell Card

Decrease the DEF of all monster(s) on the field with Stone Counter(s) on them by an amount equal to the number of Stone Counter(s) on them x500. Monsters with Stone Counter(s) cannot change their battle positions. When a face-up monster your opponent controls has a DEF of 500 or less, destroy it.

Snake Garden

Field Spell Card

When a Reptile-Type monster you control is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Reptile-Type monster with an ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck. When a monster is Special Summoned by this card's effect, you lose 500 Life Points.

Gorgon's Blood Ritual

Explanation:

The Ritual Spell Card that all three of the Gorgoness Sisters share, this card can be easily fetched via Obsidian Oroboros, and takes advantage of the constant presence of Reptile-Type monsters on the field to facilitate individual or joint Ritual Summonings.

Gorgon’s Blood Ritual

Ritual Spell Card

This card is used to Ritual Summon a "Gorgoness" monster. You must offer monsters whose total Level Stars are equal to or greater than the Level Stars of the Ritual Monster you are attempting to Ritual Summon.

Miscellaneous Support

Explanation:

There are several cards that can be used to maximize the Deck’s efficiency. Key among them are Gorgoness Blessing, a draw engine, Curse of the Viper, which fuels Ritual Summonings or the Special Summoning of Serpentine Dragon, and Gorgon’s Death Glare, which negates the effects of opposing monsters.

Gorgoness Blessing

Normal Spell Card

Destroy 1 Reptile-Type monster you control and draw 2 cards from your Deck.

Curse of the Viper

Normal Spell Card

Remove 1 Reptile-Type monster in your Graveyard from play. Special Summon 2 "Snake Spite Tokens" (Reptile-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 0/DEF 0). "Snake Spite Tokens" cannot be used as tributes for a Normal Summon (or Set).

Gorgon’s Death Glare

Continuous Trap Card

Negate the effects of all monsters except Reptile-Type monsters. Destroy this card if you do not control a face-up Reptile-Type monster.

Gorgon’s Mask

Continuous Trap Card

Once per turn, when your opponent declares an attack, you can negate that 1 attack and place 1 Stone Counter on the monster that attacked.

Gorgon Ambush

Normal Trap Card

Switch the battle position of 1 monster your opponent controls (Flip Effects are not activated) and place 2 Stone Counters on it.

Um, am I seriously the first to comment on this set?!

Anyway, I do like the set (even though I do find it REALLY ironic that you post this when everyone already knows about Reptilesses). It seems very balanced, and no card really seems too overpowered. I like it. :D I have nothing else to say.

If you think about it though, what if both the Reptilesses AND your Gorgons came out? Damn, that would make a good Deck... I'm gonna stop babbling now. ;)

Yeah, I guess so... xD

Well, actually, I've been using these cards as part of my of Forum's Custom Card League since the first few episodes of Yugioh 5Ds - I came up with them way before the Reptiless monsters were ever introduced. And thank you - I'm glad you can appreciate the hard work that went into the creation of an anime-styled, versatile set such as this one.

Yeah, that'd be one pretty badass combination!

I do love what you're doing with the presentation and all. Very nice.

I can't help thinking of the Venom monsters when I read this archetype, especially with Gorgon's Lair and Snake Garden. The latter is pretty much the toolbox of the Gorgoness, as it provides a lot of easy support: Turns your destroyed cards into either destruction for the opponent or draw power. (Noticed a combo there: Snake Garden + 1 reptile-type monster + 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field with 900 ATK or more, the lower the better = 1800 damage, but draw 3 cards with Value Serpent.)

Out of the three Gorgonesses themselves, I'd say that Euryale is the better of them: with Battle Mania and a few monsters on your opponent's side of the field, you could swing for a lot of damage. Stheno comes in second, with the ability to field-wipe with Gorgon's Lair. Medusa doesn't do it as much, and the negation effect isn't really as good.

In many ways, these are the opposites of the Reptiless' monsters, and I liked them.

Thanks, Umbra. I guess that's a decent combo, although I can manage to think of a few better ones... And that's weird - the Venom monsters weren't really an inspiration when constructing this set - rather, I wanted some seriously cool anti-Meta tech that punished the opponent for playing with the metagame and rewarded the destruction of your monsters.

Actually, I'd think that Euryale was the second-best out of the three - Battle Mania is laughably unplayed, and even if she's usually immune to destruction by battle, she's still easy prey for notable cards like Ryko, Celestia, and Judgment Dragon - the latter of those three really kills this Deck. Stheno is probably the worst due to her mediocre stats, but at least she can generally render opponent's monster useless on your turn - however, attacking with her is never a good idea. Finally, Medusa is probably the best of the three - even though she's not immune to battle, her negation effect is really powerful and useful. It's like a better/worse Tytannial.

Thanks for your comments!
