IC: Meanwhile, at the Daily Duel, it was a typical Tuesday afternoon in the New Domino City's business distict. The birds were chirping. The flowers were blooming. The motorists were honking, yelling, and swearing at each other and the occasional Turbo Duel passing through. Everything seemed great for Carly Carmine-Atlas, Pulitzer Prize-winner and editor-in-chief of the Daily Duel.

But it wasn't. She hated Tuesdays as much as she hated Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

She, in fact, hated every day that she had to work!

The deadline for tomorrow's paper was almost up and her Lifestyle reporter hadn't submitted his work yet!

Her nerves were wracked and she was running on caffeine, sugar, and fumes.

She sighed as her secretary informed her that she had a visitor. She prayed that it wasn't those people that wanted to buy out her paper...

It was actually her husband of 18 years, World Champion Turbo Duelist Jack Atlas, shoving a large, brown package into her face.

"Oh, yeah..." she moaned.

"Chinese Takeout..." she started drooling at the mouth-watering aroma of Sesame Chicken, her favorite!

OOC: Sexual innuendos are fun!

IC: "Thank you thank you thank you!!!!" Carly screamed as she lept over her desk at her husband. Even after 20 years of this, Jack still hadn't learned to sidestep or duck from his wife's glomping.

Uhh...you're welcome, love." Jack replied, still stunned from Carly crushing him.

"Could you get off of me now, darlin'?" (OOC: I'm trying to portray Jack's dub accent the best I can.) Jack asked, straining from Carly's attack.

"Oh! Yes, I'm sorry, Jack." Carly replied, helping him back on his feet and brushing dust off of his "civilian" clothes.

"Anyways, I brought you dinner. I knew you would be tired, so I got your fave to lighten your spirits!" This Jack was no longer the cold, ruthless Jack Atlas of 20 years ago, but a kinder, gentler soul.

"Is there enough for two?" Carly seductively asked, lowering her trademark glasses to reveal her beautiful blue eyes.

"As a matter of fact," Jack replied, taking off his shades, which masked deep purple eyes with a slight fire behind them that had never really went away as he aged. "there is."

Just as the couple was about to enjoy a semi-romantic early evening, the din of a helicopter, which could be seen out of Carly's office, which had transparent glasteel walls, grew louder and louder as it approached the top of the Daily Duel building.

IC: "I wonder who that could be?" Carly wondered, stepping towards the stair access that led to the helicopter pad. Jack followed, but he did so hesitantly, as if he had a bad feeling about a jet-black Chinook with no markings landing on the top of the building his wife worked at.

The couple stepped out on the pad as the 'copter took off, leaving seven hooded figures, five in a semicircle and two standing in front of the five, one closer to them than the other. The sun was shing behind them, so it was hard to figure out who they are.

Carly stepped forwards, and started to say "Hello, and welcome to the Dai-", but a cloud passed infront of the setting sun, revealing that the robes contained markings familiar to Jack, which triggered memories from twenty years ago...

Jack was chasing a familiar hooded figure down a path through the ruins of an old building.

Jack was riding his Duel Runner in a duel against the same girl, but on a strange red Duel Runner.

Jack was holding the stone figure of what was once Carly Carmine is his arms.

"Carly, No! It's a trap!" he cried.

But it was too late, as the one in front activated a Duel Disk, which created a barrier of purple fire around the pad.

In the sky and on the ground, an effigy of a spiky tree erupted as dark clouds shrouded the surrounding city.

A Shadow Duel had started.

OOC: This is gonna be fun.

IC: Izumi had just activated her Duel Disk and was about to duel Carly when she realized that Carly had no Duel Disk on her.

So, to alleviate that problem, she shouted to Jack. "Excuse me, Mr. Atlas, but could you please fetch your wife's Deck and Duel Disk for her? We have some important business to attend to." Izumi inquired.

OOC: Yes it is.

IC: Jack's arm felt like it was on fire as his mark, the wings, burnt into his skin once again. Likewise, the Tree dark mark erupted on the girl Dark Signer's arm. She appeared to be wearing pink as her color, but Jack had never seen any pink Dark Signers. Likewise, her voice sounded eerily familiar. He caught a glimpse of blood-red hair underneath the hood, saw the Dark Signer's golden eyes, and it all clicked into place.

"Show yourself, Dark Signer!" he demanded.

IC: Jack took in the female Dark Signer's appearance. Other than the fact that she was a Dark Signer with darkened eyes, somewhat questionable Dark Signer attire with pink markings, and red facial tattoos, she looked like the spitting image of a 17-year-old Akiza Izinski.

"Akiza..." he started, "what have they done to you?!?!"

IC: Izumi started at this 40-year-old-yet-looked-not-a-day-over-30 World Champion for a few seconds, then chuckled.

The chuckle turned into a burst of laughter, then she just started laughing like no tomorrow, as if Jack had just told the funniest joke in the world.

Zarkus, slightly ignorant at what was occurring, proved that laughter is contagious, and the Shadow Drones followed suit.

After about a minute of this outburst, Izzy regained her composure and stated. "I'm sorry. It's just you mistook me for my original. Long story short, I'm a clone of Akiza."

"My name is Izumi, but you may call me Izzy." she continued. "The man behind me in the multicolored robes is Zarkus."

OOC: I erased the swearing.

IC: "I'll go get them." Jack grudgingly accepted. "You keep them in the 3rd drawer from the bottom on the right side, right, love?" he asked Carly.

"Y-yes." she stammered, still kind of scared of these strange people.

"I'll be back in 5, Carly." Jack left the rooftop.
