Vessels of Veritas

Prologue

The land of Veritas. A once peaceful and harmonious continent full of free spirits. A land where the Human and Bestiary races existed together in peace and tranquility. If not for corruption among the various communities, the land of Veritas would continue to strive together in an everlasting lifetime of companionship and freedom. This tale however does not unmask stories of such falsity. As unfortunate as a tale of corruption and chaos may be, this representation of a classic case of hero versus antihero, holds more mystery, surprises, and unforth told events which will interest every listener, whom chooses to accept and listen to what befalls before their very eyes.

The Possessions of Fate. Objects known throughout the continent as items of heavenly power. It is often argued as to how these objects were created and who created them. Some believe they were sent down to the planet by means of the gods whom all creatures of Veritas acknowledged and prayed to. Some believe they were created at the beginning of all creation. Others believe they were forged by men and creatures alike, back during the days when Humans and Bestiary lived together in harmony. The truth to these object's creation is still unknown today, but the events of how they were first released upon our planet, aren't.

These powerful objects, are known as the Gems of Fate. Powerful items, of which bestow god-like abilities to the wielder who possess it. Abilities given to the Wielder of the Gems exhibit different changes of power in accordance to which Gem the Wielder possesses. Gems of Fate only expose themselves to a Human and Bestiary whom have just met, that were destined to meet. Two lives prophecised in ancient times to coincide with one another. It was in fact a group of young Humans and Bestiary who discovered this. During the ancient times, when the land of Veritas was at war among the two main races whom dominated the continent, a group of eight children met with a group of young bestiary simultaneously. It was at this point in time that the first Gem Wielders were born. These Wielders used their power to try and end the Great War that threatened the land of Veritas. Their attempts may have been successful, if the fate of one of the Wielders wasn't tainted by the evil and corruption residing within his Gem. It was the destruction of these eight Wielders that began a long awaited prophecy which would unravel once again in this very story.

Ancient Times - Year 0000 - The Sanctuary of Veritas

The last of the living Gem Wielders stood facing each other in the ruined courtyard of the same temple in which they originally came into possession of their Gems and met their Bestiary companion. They stood in direct connection to each other, tangent to the broken granite fountain that layed in ruins in the center of what seemed like the aftermath of a very tumultuous battle. Both men stood staring at each other, both with equally fatal wounds. Blood dripping from various parts of their body. Tears were coming out of the eyes of the taller men. He had spiky fair hair, with deep blue eyes. His shirt and the vest that surrounded it was torn in various places. Much like the long worn out dark blue pants he wore. The other man standing across from him, stood only a little shorter than the other. He had long black hair that came out evenly on various sides of his head. One bundle of long black hair covering the right side of his face, extended down to the upper part of his chest. He was also worn out from the battle that had just occurred. This man was not tearing, but giving the other man a different exchange in expression. He was staring at him with disdain and hatred.

Moving his hand up to his face to wipe the tears from his eyes, the man said, "It's very unfortunate," he paused for a second and continued. "So unfortunate that it had to come to this. And to think, that all of this could have been avoided. If only you..."

"If only I what?" the other man said in a higher voice cutting the other off. "Huh?" he yelled loudly to the point where his voice echoed down throughout the courtyard about three times over. "If only I confided to you what was going on? If only I warned you of what this, this thing was doing to me?" His facial expression went from frustration to anger. "What could you have done differently to have prevented all of this?" he yelled again.

"I could have stopped you!" the other yelled. More tears began to run down his face, harder and in more quantity this time. "Why the hell did you have to go and do all of what you did? They were your friends! And you cost them their lives? What kind of a person does that!" He re-opened his eyes to look at the other more clearly.

"They were never my friends. You were never my friend. I used you all from the very beginning, and fooling yourself into believing otherwise, makes you a fool."

"That is a lie damn it, and you know it. It's that stupid Gem that has corrupted your soul!"

"Shut your mouth right now!" he yelled, closing his eyes beginning to let out a tear now. "This Gem had nothing to do with the decisions I've made up to this point. I am my own person, and I have decided every decision brought forth to me, on my own."

"No. No no no! That thing is evil. Don't you see it? Are you that blind as to see that that thing hanging around your neck has corrupted your mind. Your thoughts. Your not the same person I once knew."

"You know nothing about me. I may have changed, but I've only gotten stronger. I've finally taken charge of my life, and it's brought me to where I want to be."

"You truly have gone mad." He reached into his pocket pulling out the Gem he possessed. He put the gem up to his heart and the Gem began to glow brighter and brighter. His body began to glow with the stone, and both the man and the Gem were one. One man glowing with the radiance of the power that was his Gem. He began to speak, his voice having an echo with much more bass added to it, trailing behind his own. "I have encompassed the remaining power within the Gem of Radiance into my soul, and we are now one. Standing in the most sacred temple in all of the land, I stand before you." he paused beginning to advance further towards the other man. "A Vessel of Veritas. I shall banish you from this world so that you never bring torment to the beings of this land again."

The other man stood at full height grasping onto his own Gem. His body began glowing in a darker veil of shadows. "Then two Vessels shall make their last stand here. It's time we finally settle this." After being fully encompassed with a shadow like veil, the aura surrounding his body began to thicken and the man could no longer be seen. All that was left was a giant beast in the form of a human. It's eyes were purple and claw like fingers extended from its hands.

"So this is your true form. You won't be forgiven for what you have done to my friends," he took a rather long pause before continuing, "Beast that lied dormant within the Gem of Paradox. I shall eradicate you from this world. Once and for all." The glowing man charged the beast, with the beast making the same motion towards the other. Both clashing together in the last battle between the Wielders of Veritas. A mixture of darkness and light encompassed the temple and the area around it.

The story of the first Gem Wielders is a tale best saved for another day. But for now, you will get a glimpse in the return of the Gems of Veritas. Be ready to follow this new tale unfold two and a half centuries after the last encounter, when technological discoveries meets this small world of fantasy...
Glossary - If Confused On Something]

Some times' date=' some information put into my Fic may be confusing to some of you readers, so if you get confused, ask here in this thread and I will add something to this Glossary explaing it.

[b']Anceint Times: The Anceint Times are referred to the time frame before the first appearance of the Gems of Fate. Bestiary: Bestiary is the name of the race of the various mythical creatures found in Veritas. Kind of like Humans are their own race with different ethnicities, the Bestiary is it's own race with it's various types. the Bestiary have the ability to speak Human Languages as well.

Gems of Fate: These small oval Gems are pretty much a power source that only appears when two beings, A Human and Bestiary, meet whose destinies were intertwined by fate. These Gems give the Wielder (Human) and its Companion (Bestiary) special abilities in accordance to the Gem. Commonly, the abilities given pertain to certain elements like Fire or Water.

Your fic seem to be suffering from a mild case of OMGPARAGRAPHSPLZ and purple prose. Basically, you have too much information crammed into certain spots, mainly description, and it's somewhat sliding towards the "tell" end of the Show vs. Tell Scale. Spelling and grammar is top-notch, though; I can't find anything wrong with it. The premise is unique, but honest-to-God, I had an idea like this just a few weeks ago. (AKA, humans and a partner connected by a gem.) It's quite good so far; you have one reader who plans on sticking with it.

(I plan on making a character for you, as well.)

I was trying not to lean on the "tell" side, but I anticipated the Prologue would be more "Telling" but I do plan to balance it out in later chapters, if not early. And thanks, I had to go through it multiple times fixing small errors that I made. And, great minds think alike right? ^^ I'll enjoy having you as a reader, hopefully this'll have a good run.

I'm currently writing Chapter One which is titled Intertwined & the Destined Possessions. This first installment will be based roughly around two and a half centuries after the events of A History of a Vessel. This first chapter will be rather lengthy, which I plan to do for every chapter.

Chapter One will be posted tomorrow night at 5:00 Pm, in (-8) Timezone.

Aside from one or two grammatical errors, it was a nice read. I think it might be cool if you tried incorporating a music system into yours like I did with a couple of mine. It might make it more interesting to listen to music as you read that the writer feels goes with the scene.

I'll definitely be a fan, but I won't be able to read every episode every time it comes out because I'm usually too lazy busy to do so.
