-Griffin Posted January 14, 2011 Report Share Posted January 14, 2011 I AM BUMPING A THREAD WELL OVER A YEAR OLD THAT IS ONLY HALF MINE. I just thought people might be interested in how my card ethic has changed over time. These days, I'd be highly critical of these cards. I really don't see the negative impact of this necrobump as long as I make something of it, so no need for anyone to get moody. For one, the archtype as a whole is pretty likely to have some dead draws unless you get lucky and grab Marine Ladybug or something early. Just having Dark Hole or something on the bottom of your Graveyard can be fairly devastating if you didn't draw good cards to clear it out of the way. Cyclone Spider would have kept the ATK until the end of the opponent's turn, and be possible to destroy by battle in the opponent's turn. It would also only have 4 attacks (and it'd be clear it gets the ATK before damage calculation). Gale Terror LV12 wouldn't exist. It's highly cloggy since it's unlikely to be Summoned, and when it is it's just too insta-win and makes the whole duel a Lame Duck. I've since redone Ladybugs somewhere else. Excalibur Moth would have 2000 ATK max. It's too easy of a beatstick to drop right now. Reckless tactician would have some clause to make it more playable. Waiting till an opponent attacks it isn't good. It'd probably turn itself to DEF upon Summon or just have a reasonable ATK. Dark Spiderling would probably be completely redone, along with the majority of the s/t support. I'd cut out the whole thing about the opponent's Graveyard. It's "interesting" and "original", but it's also clunky, impractical, and can make Lame Duck-ish situations against some Decks. Judgment Hammer would have slightly lower ATK/DEF, probably, and the Trap effect could hit your own monsters. - Also couldn't attack the turn it's Summoned. It's a +1 to Summon in the first place, after all. There's probably other naunces that I'd fiddle with, but I can still see some potential here. If YVD had a Graveyard shuffle function, I'd possibly even consider making some NGD-friendly-versions. (And even without that, I might play around with the design to get something just right). So yeah, look into the past, think about how formats have changed, think about how you might have improved your card making, and how you might be able to in the future, and maybe even comment on the concepts and my fixes. This is mostly just here to give people something to think about and for a bit of a fun blast from the past. Feel free to ignore and let it drop off the page. :3 EDIT: Oh right, and I'd never make a theme this darn big! 20 cards is probably way too much for a theme. Even using no cards outside the theme, that's hitting the maximum legal limit for a Deck using only the theme's cards. Link to comment

I like that the "Omen" archetype isn't just a recreation of a more popular archetype like blackwings and lightsworn, just with different art and slightly different effects. I liked your idea of the "this card has to be on the bottom to work, but it usually gets it's order changed afterward to make a new card work" type effects. Very original I would say. It would be nice to see how these would actually play out in real life. Link to comment
