The Good Old YCM Awards - Accepting name and other suggestions

To update: the original Council (Myself, Azuh and Static) have decided that the activeness of some members in the team is not guaranteed, as they have yet to confirm their positions. Currently, we have decided that Advanced Raver will be allocated an "On Leave" position, that is not totally powerless, but rather a reserve slot in case. If he at any time does become active, the Council will continue with more than 5 members if necessary.

 

In the mean time, to get the ball rolling, we have decided to allocate Advanced Raver's position to Careless Whisperer, who has been PMed to confirm this. This means that Careless Whisperer's spot on the team of Assistants is now free, and that position has been offered to Pikachu, who has also been PMed to confirm this.

 

The other case is that of Adama., who, as I checked and he has not logged on since before the confirmation PM was sent (which is not the case for Advanced Raver), is of course being given another 24 hours to respond. In the case that he does not, or Pikachu cannot commit to Careless Whisperer's position, the Council has another member lined up to be offered the position, who shall be kept unannounced until such time as they need be named (so as not to get their hopes up unnecessarily).

 

Thank you for your attention. We hope to have everything set for the full commencing of planning and decision-making for the first of which, the date of which is part of the decision-making, and we hope to release soon.

We haven't decided on when it will start just yet. We would possibly try for next month, or even sooner

Wonderful! That means we are prepared to start. Please, roll the suggestions in.

 

To start you off, our first order of business is the name of the Awards. Currently, they are of course "The Good Old YCM Awards", but I came up with this name myself and want to ensure everyone is at least satisfied with it.

 

Once we have a few very good suggestions, a poll shall be made.

 

A few ideas I put to the Council last night:

 

- No change (so as to keep it as "The Good Old YCM Awards")

- "The YCM Awards" (which is what the original awards were called)

- "The Democratic People's YCM Awards" (my twisted sense of humour thinks this would be funny :P)

 

Please get any ideas you have in ASAP!

As we did in the original awards, I'm expecting to have a vote for host prior to each awards. I may do it the first time, just to show people how it's done - but we'll worry about that a little later.

 

Might I suggest your suggestion be "The YCM Member's Choice Awards"? I like it. 8)

I do agree with Rinne. The current name fits this best, as this suits the classic theme of the awards.

 

Now that Adama is here, will I be taken off of the roster of assistants?

 

Not at all! If we go over, that's a plus if anything. We just don't intentionally hire more than 5 at a time.

*Favorite Moderator Award

*Favorite Super Moderator Award I Put favorite, because thats the proper term when seeing how members choose the Best Moderator; their favorite.

*Overall Favorite Staff Member Award

*Hardest Worker Award More along the lines of which staff member works the hardest with their job.

 

-Talent Awards- Awards given through sheer talent alone

*Best Card Maker

*Best Graphic Designer

*Best Tutorial

*Best Shop

*Best Club/Organization

*Best Roleplayer

*Best Writer (Overall best writer when it comes to roleplaying, fan-fiction, or some of the various literature posted in the general section from time to time

*Best Fan-Fiction

*Best Deck Design

*Best Card Contest

*Best Graphic Competition

 

-King/Queen of- Best of that section

*Realistic Cards

*Pop Culture Cards

*Written Cards

*Any Other Cards

*Card Contests

*King/Queen of TCG

By Contributor I mean, the person who brings the best discussions, regularily posts, etc.

Traveler, I do suggest that the awards do not include the negative awards, the Award is given to those who worked hard to achieve the level where people realize their potential, not for intentionally spamming or all these easy-to-achieve negative things.

 

To summarize, just put only the positive threads.

 

PS : You actually spell the word contributor wrong.

mmm, thanks for pointing that out Kagamine, I think i've fixed all of those. I thought adding the negative awards would have been a bad choice; I only added them because they were accepted awards on other boards i've been to. But I agree, I was only trying to list all possible Options ^_^

Thanks for all the suggestions so far everyone. I'll scratch up a composite list in a few hours.

 

EDIT: It is a fact that we are an organisation, and therefore it is only fair that this thread be relocated to Clubs and Organisations - the ceremonies, however, shall still be held in General when they do occur.

I very much like that idea! A bit of mutual advertising could be a great way to expand both the Awards and good clubs!

We could have some unorthodox contests that aren't generally run that often on YCM.

Like, each Council members hosts a different type of test for the members while the assistants can be judges to those contests.

 

Works like this for more detail, yet more simply explained.

 

Put this scenerio together in your head. Say I, a member of the council, wishes to host a poetry contest. I basicly start up a thread to host the poetry contest and give details about how it will go on. Like, what type of poem has to participate or what theme the contestants must write upon.

 

The assistants to the Council will act as judges in the competitions. They will be the people who give their critique and opinions on the poems while other members who do not participate in the contests get to vote on the winner. Assistants can also vote, but before any votes can be tallied, the assistants must give their critique first. Assistant votes will count as two points, while anyone who is not an assistant only counts as 1 point, (that includes us Council members as well.)

 

Whoever recieves the most amount of vote-points by a set time period will win 3 positive reps from that hosting Council members.

 

 

 

(Point to this idea is to make the council members even more involved with the members. This way, it's not just the huge Awards Ceremony that we host. We can also have more to do with the site. )
