[spoiler=Chapter 1]

Kagami, Tsukasa, Konata and Miyuki gathered up at the train station like they did every school day.

"Morning everyone" said Kagami as she supported her twin, as the smaller girl was falling asleep on her feet.

"Morning. What's with her?" asked Konata with a smirk when she saw the sleeping Tsukasa.

"Tsukasa forgot to study for her history test, so I had to spend all night helping her cram. Wait a minute, Konata, you're in Tsukasa's class too. Did you study?"

A bead of sweat dropped appeared on Konata’s forehead.

"AAH! I forgot about the test! Aw man, aw man, aw man!" Konata babbled loudly as she pulled out her history textbook.

"Konata, you’ll never change,” Kagami said flatly. “C'mon, you can study on the train," Kagami told her now panicking friend as the train pulled up at the station.

The travel to the train was uneventful, Konata being too busy cramming to make any jokes.

Kagami got to her class, being greeted by Ayano, who was by herself. It was strange as Ayano was almost never seen without being accompanied by Misao.

"Good morning!" they greeted each other. As soon as they finished greeting each other Misao burst in.

"Hey Hiiragi! I've got big news!" Misao exclaimed, waving her hand frantically.

"Calm down Misao. Now tell us what it is." Kagami replied trying to get Misao to settle down.

"We're getting a transfer student from Europe!!! I'm so excited!"

Kagami didn’t have time to respond as the school bell rung and everyone took their seats. The teacher entered.

"Good morning class." the teacher said in his customary monotone.

"Good morning sensei." replied the class in an equally monotone voice.

"I've got some exciting news class. Ryoō High School has been famous for its student transfer program and we are the class selected for the most recent student. Please help make him feel at home here." The teacher said in a more enthusiastic voice. He continued, "Class, please welcome, our transfer student from England, Christopher Archer!"

A boy with medium length blonde hair with deep hazel eyes walked into the class. He seemed to carry himself with a confident attitude. As soon as Kagami saw him, she started to blush slightly.

"Archer-san, would you care to tell us a little about yourself?" asked the teacher in his regular monotone drawl.

"Well. I'm Chris, I'm from London, and I'm really excited to be in Japan. I transferred here after my parents had to move for work. I hope I'll be able to fit in!" said Chris slightly nervously, rubbing the back of his head and giving a nervous chuckle.

"Well then. Archer-san, there's an empty seat next to Hiiragi-san over there," said the teacher, pointing out the empty seat.

Kagami panicked in her mind.

Oh man. He's cute! C'mon girl, keep it together. Don't do anything dumb. Ignore-

Her thoughts were cut off when Chris tried to sit when the guy behind him snatched the seat from under him. Chris landed hard on his butt and the whole class started laughing. Then, something in Kagami's logic broke and she stood up.

"Hey Yuugi! Why did you do that for?!" She shouted at the guy who pulled the seat, who was rather bewildered that someone would stand up to him. Kagami's outburst silenced the class. Everyone stared in amazement at the usually reserved girl. Kagami slowly sat back down as the teacher walked to the scene.

"Thank you Hiiragi-san, I'll take it from here. Yuugi, go to the principal's office now. Wait there until I decide on a proper punishment," the teacher said in monotone even after what happened. Kagami sat in her seat, face buried in her desk with a blush on her face.

Idiot! You just had to go and do something stupid didn't you!?” She scolded herself. The class went along as scheduled, but it was hard to concentrate, with everyone breaking into whispers every few minutes. Kagami looked at the clock after what felt like hours.

Ten minutes still seems like forever. Why can't it be lunch already?

After what felt like eternity, the lunch bell rang and the class slowly filed out for lunch. Kagami stayed behind, not wanting to hear what her classmates might say to her. When most of the class exited, she picked up her things and headed for the door. Chris was already there, apparently waiting for Kagami.

Damn it! Why can't he just leave me alone!” Kagami mentally cursed.

"Hey, Hiiragi. Thanks for what you did back there. I’ve never had someone stand up for me!" Chris said with a very enthusiastic and heavily accented voice.

"Oh, it was nothing, don't worry about it." Kagami said curtly, trying to get past him and forget all about what happened, but Chris refused to be ignored. He grabbed her wrist as she started down the hall.

"Please, if there is any way to repay you, please, just tell me and I'll do everything I can." Chris said in a very gentleman-like voice as he bowed.

"Um…" Kagami said in a confused tone. She couldn't help but go into a daydream.

Kagami found herself running down a dark alley in an unknown city. She called out for help, but no one noticed. Dark figures wielding long knives chased after her, cackling manically.

She slipped on a puddle of oil and fell on her knees. The figures kicked her down and flipped her over. She screamed as she waited to be killed, but something stopped the attacker.

It was Chris, but he was wearing a dark cape and suit complete with a wide brimmed hat. He had a rapier that blocked the attacker's knife.

"Excuse me gentlemen, but I can't allow you to touch such a fine lady as this," The Superhero Chris said as he kicked the attackers back into each other. They charged him, but he quickly dispatched them using super fast slashes, leaving them a bloody mess.

"My hero!" Kagami said dreamily, hugging the superhero Chris.

"Oh, it was nothing my dear," he replied. The two stared into each other's eyes. Their faces got closer and closer until...

"Hiiragi? Hiiragi?! You ok?" Chris said as he shook Kagami out of her daydream. She blushed with embarrassment.

"Wha-? Oh, I'm sorry, that's so unlike me!" she said very flustered, wiping the small amount of drool of her face.

"It's okay. As I said, if there’s anything you want me to do to make that up, I'll be there! Alright, I guess I'll see ya around. See ya Hiiragi!"

Chris headed down to the lunchroom, leaving Kagami dazed and confused. She managed to shake herself, and she headed down to the bathroom.

She turned on the faucet, and bent over the sink, then splashed her face with cold water.

What the hell was that?! Are you insane?” She thought to herself angrily.

After she mentally scolded herself and pulled herself back together, she headed down to the lunchroom.

As she entered, Konata waved her down from across the room. Kagami joined her along with the rest of the group.

"Hey Kagamin! What took you so long?" Konata asked cheerfully.

"Hey guys. I was asking the teacher a few questions. How was your test?" She asked Konata and Tsukasa immediately.

Konata slammed her face to the table.

"I pretty much failed it. Kuroi-sensei is gonna kill me! And she’s probably gonna have something to say over WOW tonight." Konata groaned, obviously disappointed.

"Well, that's what you get when you put off studying for your anime shows," Kagami said rather casually as she took her seat.

"Please Kagami! Help me study for the next test! If I fail another test, Kuroi-sensei is never gonna let me play online again!" Konata pleaded as she shook Kagami by the sleeves.

"Ok ok! Let me go!" Kagami said, trying to defend herself.

Konata released Kagami and said "Thank you Kagami! I try to study on my own, but I can't just stay focused even if I'm in the library! I just end up reading in the manga section!"

"Fine, I get that. But still, if you just end up copying my homework like always then I’ll-!" Kagami was cut off by Konata

"Ok. How about we get together at my house at 12 tomorrow?"

"Fine then." Kagami said huffily, and opened her bento.

The girls then continued to talk about their day until Misao and Ayano walked up to their table.

"Hey Hiiragi! That was awesome what you did in class when-" Misao started before having a rice ball shoved into her mouth forcefully by Kagami.

"Excuse us for a second," Kagami said hurriedly as she pushed Misao out of the room. Misao swallowed the rice ball.

"Hey! What was that for?" Misao exclaimed after finally managing to swallow her gag.

"Please don't tell Konata about what happened in class! I won't hear the end of it if she finds out!!!" Kagami whispered loudly.

"Ok ok! I'll keep it a secret! My lips are sealed!" Misao replied, doing the lips sealed action.

Kagami sighed and returned with Misao to the lunchroom.

"What was that about?" inquired Konata, pointing at Kagami with her chopstick.

"Nothing!" Kagami said quickly.

"Oooh! Someone's hiding something! Tell me everything!" Konata teased.

"Shut up! I've got nothing to hide so leave me alone!" Kagami said angrily. Konata couldn’t help but notice the small but obvious blush on Kagami’s face.

The lunch bell rang, signaling the next classes were about to start.

"Well look at the time I got to go to class bye!" Kagami quickly said as she dashed out of the room. The gang was confused of the strangely, on edge, Kagami. Konata looked at Misao with a mischievous look.

"Uhh. You're not gonna make me tell right?" Misao asked nervously. Konata quickly got up and started to chase Misao, who was already running.

The rest of the day was uneventful for Kagami, but Chris kept entering her thoughts. When she met up with her friends at the end of the day, everyone was looking at her strangely, Konata most of all.

"Uhh…Is there something wrong?" asked Kagami, already knowing the answer but praying it wouldn't be it.

"It looks like our tsundere is finally opening up! Who would thought the mighty Kagami could get a crush!" Konata teased before laughing hysterically.

"Damn it Konata! Who told you?!"

Konata didn't answer but continued to laugh. Kagami picked a still hysterical Konata by the collar.

"If you tell anyone else, I won't help you with your homework!"

"Alright alright! I won't tell anyone else!" Konata said after calming down her laughing.

"Kagami, there's nothing wrong with getting a crush. It will happen eventually to everyone. There's nothing to worry about!" said Miyuki, trying to defuse the situation.

"Yea, I know that, but having a crush with Konata around means constant torment!" Kagami pointed out indignantly.

The train ride was awkward for Tsukasa and Miyuki, looking about and forth from a boiling mad Kagami and a nonstop giggling Konata.

Kagami and Tsukasa got home, Kagami still quite angry. She crashed onto her bed and screamed into her pillow until she was tired out.

"Stupid Konata. Stupid Chris. Stupid life." she mumbled, "Well, thank god it's Friday."

……

Kagami woke up to the sunshine piercing through the blinds in her room. This was a very rare event for Kagami.

“Ugh, what time is it?”

Kagami reached for her alarm, and gazed at her clock, which read 9:30 am. She dragged herself out of bed and walked down to the kitchen, where Tsukasa was making breakfast.

"Good morning onee-chan! You're up a bit late!" Tsukasa cheerfully greeted her sister while pouring her customary morning tea.

"Ugh. I'm just not feeling like myself right now." Kagami muttered as she sipped her tea. An awkward silence fell over the kitchen; the only sounds were the sound of cooking omelet and the flipping of Kagami's morning newspaper. Tsukasa broke the silence.

"Um. Onee-chan. About yesterday. Is it true you have a crush?" Tsukasa asked nervously, trying not to touch a nerve. Kagami sighed.

"Yes, I do. I guess I do. I think so."

"Oooh! Tell me who he is Onee-chan!" Tsukasa begged.

"Fine, but you better not tell anyone."

"Ok, tell me!"

"Pinky swear?"

Tsukasa nodded, and Kagami and Tsukasa linked pinkies.

"Ok! Tell me all about it!" Tsukasa whispered with excitement.

"Alright. Do you know about the new transfer student who transferred to our grade?"

Tsukasa nodded.

"Well… It's him."

"Oooh! How romantic! Where's he from?"

"He's from Britain! He's got the dreamiest eyes! You could get lost looking into them!"

"That's so great! Are you going to ask him out to a date?"

Kagami blushed and said "I can't! You know I can't do that! Konata would never let that go!” Then her voice lowered to a mutter, “Plus… I don't know how."

There was an awkward silence, in which both twins were lost for words, so Tsukasa just went back to cooking.

After Kagami had breakfast, she got her books together for her study session at Konata's place. While walking, she pondered how she should handle her affection.

Chris seems like a normal guy. I think I could ask him out. But what would he say? Would he say yes? Would it be sudden?

Before she knew it, she was already in front of Konata's house. She rang the doorbell. Konata answered the door almost immediately.

"Hey Kagamin! Come on in!" Konata greeted. They went into Konata's room, which was still strewn with manga of all kinds.

"Did you even try to clean your room at all?" Kagami said irritated, clearing a spot on the table and putting her books down.

"Sorry, but I just woke up a few minutes ago. I almost forgot about our study session," Konata replied, scratching the back of her head.

"Of course you did." Kagami said with a small frown.

"Hold on a sec."

Konata threw a slipper at the door of her room. Kagami heard a distinct "ow" from behind the door.

"Get out of here dad! I told you not to spy on my friend!" Konata

shouted at her father, who slunk away.

"Sorry about that. I know my dad is pretty creepy," Konata apologized.

The girls discussed world history, but within 15 minutes, Konata's mind was burnt out.

"Ugh. I need a break from all this studying." Konata sighed.

"You’ve gotta be kidding me. Already?! It's only been 15 minutes! How long do you usually study?"

"Well, if I didn't have you around, I would've already been reading manga by now."

"Ok fine, we'll take a break. Where do you want to go then?"

"I want to go see if there is any new mangas at the shop I usually go to." Konata said excitedly, grabbing her wallet.

"Fine, if it keeps you motivated." Kagami said reluctantly, putting on a jacket and following Konata out the door.

Konata and Kagami left and took the train to the complex where Konata usually shopped. While walking there, Kagami noticed a strange dark shop nearby.

"Hey Konata, was that shop there before?" Kagami asked.

"I don't know, I never saw that shop before," Konata replied. She quickly got herself consumed in the "New Volumes" section of the shop, being covertly observed by the shop manager. Kagami succumbed to her curiosity and walked into the dark shop.

The shop was some type of weird magic shop. The shelves held all kinds of artifacts, potions and scrolls. Kagami explored the shop, trying not to bump into anything. Suddenly, someone spoke from behind her.

"Welcome to the Saitama Alchemy and Potion Making Shoppe," said a calm and mysterious voice. Kagami jumped at the voice and spun around. A boy about her age was standing only a few inches from her. Kagami wondered how he managed to get behind her without making any sound. He was wearing a blue robe that looked like something out of a video game.

"Can I help you find anything today miss?" asked the boy, his eyes looking into the distance.

"Uhh. No, I was just looking around." Kagami replied in a nervous tone.

"No no no, I sense that you are in need of something in this shop. Please, show me your hand."

"My hand? Why?" Kagami said blankly.

"Just do it."

Kagami put out her hand. The boy moved her fingers and examined her palm.

"Hmmm. Yes yes. I see." he whispered under his breath, not helping Kagami feel anymore comfortable.

"I see that you put up a strong image to the world, but deep inside, you yearn for someone to share your feelings with." The boy said with a very pensive voice.

"Wha- That's absurd! How would you know who I am?!" exclaimed Kagami, pulling back her hand. The boy was unfazed from her objection and started staring into her eyes. His dark green eyes seemed to pierce into her very soul. Kagami tried to look away, but something about his gaze seemed to keep her fixated. After about a few seconds of this, the boy looked away and continued his gazing into space.

"What the heck was that?!" Kagami objected. The boy turned his back to her and began walking slowly deeper into the shop.

"I was looking into your soul. My suspicions and palm reading predictions were correct. You put an iron shell to the world, but you long for a significant other. He goes to your school, am I correct?" the boy said in his pensive voice.

"What the hell?! How do you know that!" Kagami screamed, now angry and scared at the same time. She grabbed the boy by his collar and continued:

"Are you some type of pervert stalker or something?"

The boy was unfazed by this and maintained his serene expression.

"No miss. I'm not a stalker. I am simply trained in the arts of soul reading. If you would be so kind and let go of me, I would be happy to give you something that could make you get that significant someone."

Kagami slowly put the boy down. She was still very suspicious of how he knew so much about her, but he seemed to be genuine. The boy walked into a back room of the shop, where a massive metal pot sat in the middle of the room.

"Umm. What are you doing?" asked Kagami.

"I will be making you a charm that will bring love into your life. Everyone around you will fall in love, including that special someone," he replied. He took several crystalline substances of the shelves and put them into the pot. They made contact in the middle and flashed. The boy put his hands into the pot and took out the result: a small pink crystal.

"Here. Take this crystal and keep it close to your heart. Within a few days, love will be all around you," said the boy as he handed Kagami the crystal.

"Ok. Thanks, I think." Kagami muttered, at a loss for words. She walked out of the shop, dazed from the strange experience. She met Konata at

the centre of the plaza.

"Hey Kagamin! Where'd you go?" Konata asked while toting a bag full of new mangas.

"Oh, I checked out the new shop over there," Kagami said while shoving the crystal into her pockets.

"What were they selling over there? It looks suspicious."

"Oh they were just selling, uh, pots and pans!"

"Boring! Let's go have lunch!" Konata said happily, grabbing Kagami’s hand and dragging her away. Kagami pulled her back.

"Oh no you don't! You’ve still got studying to do!" Kagami scolded as she dragged Konata out of the complex.

……

After studying with Konata, Kagami headed home. While walking back, she took out the crystal she got from the magic shop boy. She held it up to the light. It had a faint heart shape within it.

I must be crazy. This stupid trinket is not going to get Chris to notice me. At least it was free.

She put the crystal back into her pocket. Her day ended like usual, but she found herself remembering the crystal, then that boy. Her life was about to turn upside down.

Akira: Hmm. Maybe I could get him to put me in the show! I'll finally become a star!

Shiraishi: Uhh.I don't think that'll happen. It says here that the writer is very picky on who he includes in the new story. He didn't even give some of the main characters many lines.

Akira: ...What was that?

Shiraishi: Oh, uh, nothing. Just giving the viewers the facts.

Akira: No, I mean about me not getting the part.

Shiraishi: Well, the writer is very picky so-
