CinnamonStar
OMFG HOW DID WE ALL MISS THIS: PROGRESSIVE METAL: OPETH Opeth are enlisted as Death Metal but I don't think they belong there. Actually they're harder to classify since they kind of shift between the genres (just like Katatonia) but I guess Prog comes closer. more power metal. Dragonforce =\ Alestorm I'll edit all Dragonforce sucks and will never go on this list. Well theoretically they can still be classified as Power Metal even if you/most of us don't like them.Overrated Power Metal but still. Wikipedia is edited and managed by normal people like us. CinnamonStar
http://www.myspace.com/marilynmansonLooks more like Rock / Alternative <_< That´s because classifications on myspace are kept as general as possible (default probably?).Manson himself called his own music Glam Rock though. But either way, his music doesn´t belong to a Metal list. Well just so you know, I banned Beneath The Sky for duplicate-accounting as a perma-banned member but promised to take over this since it´s quite successful. So keep letting band names coming and I will add them to the list. The kid with the face
Aerosmith??? And Nu Metal is NOT a genre of metal. Calling bands like LostProphets a genre of metal is a complete lie. And I wouldn't really consider Hardcore a genre of metal either, but okay... Anyways Black/Death: Arsis, Brain Drill, In Flames (Melodic Death) Metalcore: As I Lay Dying, As Blood Runs Black, August Burns Red Doom: Katatonia And you misspelled "Dethklok". That's it off the top of my head.
By saying that Nu Metal isn't Metal, is saying that KoRn, Slipknot, And Nonpoint arn't metal. LostProphets USED to be Nu Metal. Anyways. Nonpoint for Nu Metal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOO4VZeH4-g EDIT: Beneath the Sky, Lamb of God used to be Death Metal.

ironmanben
No, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith are both classified as very light Glam Metal. Bon Jovi may not have been the heavy-est, but he helped get the style popularity.

CinnamonStar
Alright I went through all the posts and added everything.By loking through it and like Wicket suggested the list is far from being complete though, genre-wise. There are a lot of categories missing like Avant-Garde Metal, Symphonic and "hybrid" genres like Melodic Black. If you want me to do that I can expand the list and open a category for the rest of the genres. I also think we're better off with an alphabetically ordered list so I could change that too. What do you think?:)

I don't think super categorization wouldn't be totally nessicary (spelling?), althought it would be helpful, it would cause much confusion to those who don't know their genres as well as people like you and me :) Just my thoughts of course, I'll support you in w/e you decide to do.
