OmegaWave
I wouldn't. Because you would have to feel the pain of everyone else you love dying. Also, being dead would actually be better than living on this sheet hole planet. Damn humans don't know when enough is enough. SpartanGio
No. Being immortal would suck. Oh sure' date=' at first its pretty cool. Until everyone you know dies. But that's alright, you can make new friends and lovers. Oh wait. They died too. Eventually your perception of time will warp, and you [i']won't[/i] be able to interact with other people, because their lifespan would seem like the blink of an eye to you. You would be bored out of your mind as the centuries rolled by. Eventually, the sun will explode, destroying the earth. Then you'll get to float through space for the rest of eternity. Oh joy. nuff said for me

Frunk
I wouldn't. How bout you guys? Dying is like never finishing a book. So' date=' yes.[/quote'] what about when the sun blows up? The sun will never "blow up", it will expand, then detonate, not imploding or exploding due to a little thing called hydrostatic equilibrium. When that event occurs, I suspect, being immortal, I will survive. As for what I would do - I would find a new planet. As for how I would do it, you must remember that this thread deals with a rhetorical question. Anything else?
Death Metal
Yes. I wouldn't worry too much about the sun exploding (or expanding or whatever) because by that time, which is a couple billion years from now, we will probably have other planets to go to. Death Metal
I would hope that the technology in a billion years would be able to get us there safely. If not then I would just "LOL" at the dead guys.

Красивая Ведьма
People live and die. It is natural, but I would do almost anything for immortality. Saying no to it is just asking the person to kill you.I wouldn't. How bout you guys? Dying is like never finishing a book. So' date=' yes.[/quote'] what about when the sun blows up? Hopefully, by that time in the far future we will have colonized another planet in a different solar system.
Guest Fake Apology
I would, but I wouldn't have the chance to become immortal. However, even if I like the idea, being immortal seems to be a torture. I mean, people have to die some day, they would be sick of life and stuff, so yeah. Frunk
Yeah' date=' but what about black holes?[/quote'] Please learn some basic astronomical facts before trying to debate with them. There are no black holes anywhere near our Solar System (if there were, we'd probably know a lot more about them). Furthermore, their presence can quite easily be observed and planned for. Infinitus
All my reasons were already said. No. I believe, that in some ways, we are already immortal. We may not have our bodies, or life when we die, but we live on in the lives of those we cared about, and those lives we made a difference in. By asking people to tell future generations about you and the good things you did, you have already become immortal in a way. Because you will never be forgotten. As far as that version of immortality goes, yes, I would want to be immortal. But the kind you are thinking of, would suck. So no.
