This second fanfic of mine will be something small. It's a book version of the first movie. Enjoy!

[spoiler=Prologue: Legend awakens! Red-Eyes Black Dragon!]

February was coming to an end. Three Domino High students were gathered in a mysterious game shop. They all played Duel Monsters, a game which was very popular at the time. They had saved some of their pocket money to buy new cards. The boy wearing a yellow shirt had just opened his booster. It contained Skull Servant, Mushroom Man, Basic Insect and some other commons.

"All junk cards." he commented.

"Me too." the boy in black replied.

They both looked towards the third boy, who wore a green jacket and a white hoodie. "Really? Oh Well let's go."

They turned around, and the shopkeeper watched them closely. She was an old woman who also played the game. She was of the opinion that every card should be respected.

The three students were about to leave, when a green-haired boy from their class entered the store, ringing the bell as he did so. They gathered around him.

"What is it, Shougou? You've come to buy Duel Monster Cards too, huh?" the boy in yellow asked him. Shougou stared at his own feet.

"What! He? He's never won a game before! It's no use! Go play Old Maid instead!" All three of them laughed, and left through the door. Shougou felt awfull. Those three allready picked on him at school, just because he was bad at Duel Monsters. What Igiru had said was true; his first victory was still far away. He neared the counter in silence. If only he had some powerfull cards...

"Come, come! You want cards, right?" the lady asked him. Saitu let his hand float over the box with booster packs.

"So you like card games?"

"Yeah. But I'm too weak to win." He took one of the packs out of the box. He had no idea how to scale whatsoever. He was feeling lucky today, tough. "But I want to become stronger."

"Do you know what a Duelist is?"

He looked back up, amazed by this simple question.

"Of course. They're heroes who fight using Duel Monsters, right? My dream is to become a first-class Duelist." He became a little red. It had always been his secret, his hope, his passion. One day, he would be strong. The old lady smiled.

"Is that so? It's good to have dreams, boy."

"Allright. Take this." He put a 100 Yen coin on the counter. She looked curiously as he tore open his pack. The first card was Kuriboh. But the card after that was...

The old woman gasped, and so did Shougou.

"That is...Red-Eyes Black Dragon! In Duel Monsters, it's a legendary rare card on the level of a Blue-Eyes White Dragon."

Shougou was amazed. A legendary rare card?

"The blue Dragon brings victory. However, the red Dragon does not bring victory, only potential for it. But only for one with the courage to fight!"

He didn't know how to react. He didn't realize what he had done, and was going to be able to do. "Courage to fight!?"

"There must be a card somewhere that'll make the potential a reality, but whether they come together depends on whether the one has the courage to fight!"

He looked back at the card. "Red-Eyes...legendary card?"

 

 

[spoiler=Chapter 1: Revelation! Duel Monsters showdown! (NOT FINNISHED)]

Somewhere in a nearby Game Center, there were loads of Domino High students enjoying their day of. At one of the tables, a boy with multi-coloured hair was playing against a slightly taller one with blonde hair. Yuugi, the smallest of the two, was explaining the game to Miho-san and Honda-kun, who were watching.

"Listen. This is my card pile, called a Deck. From there, I can draw five cards for my hand. And then we take turns using cards from our hands."

Jonouchi-san, his opponent, had only recently started playing. Yuugi didn't play that long either, but he was a master of games. He almost never lost.

"I'll go first!" he said enthousiastically. "Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress attacks!" He put a card on the table. The image showed a blue Dragon. Under it, the numbers 1400 and 1200 could be seen.
