It sounds very lovely considering that you are (at least from my impressions) a very capable role-player and so I am fully honored to work with you on such a role-play. Do you happen to have a plot in mind for the Club Roleplay?

Thank you very much, and I also will enjoy working with you. For the trial roleplay or Official Roleplay?

To which I was referring? I was talking about the Official Roleplay. But if you wish to discuss the Trial RP, I suppose that would be an interesting topic to discuss. Any ideas for either?

I intend to start a roleplay entitled 'Mutant Chronicles' though I am not sure whether I will use this for the Trials, or make it into a real roleplay as the plot is rather interesting, at least to my tastes and would prove an interesting storyline to progress through.

Yeah, a Scratch Plot would suffice. Though you'd be surprised at how creative you can be with Pop Culture role plays.

We should start planning the overall plot / setting for the Official Roleplay after the trial, so that we are more familiar with eachother's styles and likes and dislikes, so we'll be able to develop a plot and setting to the overall members of this club's liking.

And also, @Lesson#3: I never really made THAT organized. I usually just set up a few main Events, and then when the players are finished in whatever quests or sub-plots they are doing I push them toward it. xD

Actually, that is refered to as 'Leading', another style of rping, under metagaming. Its useful when the plot isn't moving along, though I would prefer 'Pushing' as it leaves small breadcrumbs for the users to work off to get to the right direction.

Hmmm, I just read the Hooks and Entry Points lesson. I must say it was enlightening, and sadly true. Many people who apply for a Roleplay don't post because they have no idea how to enter the plot once the story begins. So a good GM or even a good RPer should think of inventive ways to introduces Hooks to get those Mmembers into the RP. Very useful Lessons and descriptive as well, I'm impressed Traveler-dono.

Now, I am very curious, what is the basic plot of these Mutant Chronicles? I would simply love to know.

As for Niyabari-san, I do whole-heartedly agree on the subject that everyone's styles should be gauged so that we (Moreso Traveler-dono), can incorporate a plot where everyone can be interested.

RolePlaying History: Not much officially. But I am always coming up with creative ideas and tend to have an overactive imagination. I have roleplays in my head. I've done a smidge of Meti's Immortal Chronicles, til' I lost interest. I usually give up on roleplays due to noobs godmodding and/or inactivity.

Room For Improvement: Become more active in the RP section and become a better roleplayer.

I thought the Hooks/Entry Lesson would be extremely helpful, and in the trial roleplay this friday we will be working on bringing that out.

As for the 'Mutant Chronicles', let's see if I can quickly jot down a good plot summary for what I have got in my head so far.
Mutant Chronicles - Plot Development]

The year is 2304, more than three centuries after the peak of the second millenium. With hundreds of years full of technogical and biological developments, the nation that is the United States had fallen into a second Civil War, split amongst the west and the east. In the heat of the battle during this War, new biological warfare had been produced by both sides.

One important biological weapon to be known by both sides is the 'Trace Cyrum' known worldwide as the turning point for the war. Trace Cyrum was a testing cyrum, designed by the eastern military to give soldeirs abnormal abilities, such as haveing more strength, increase in speed and agility, upgrade in natural senses, and a greater resistance to oppositional weapons.

At first the cyrum proved to be very succesful tested on a special squad unit of 10 people. This squad at first was useful in winning many of the battles between the east and the west turning the fate of the war. After only a few weeks, this special squad unit began experiencing abnormal transformalities, shifting their appearance.

These, now called mutants, begane attacking soldiers in their own military, killing hundreds of people, and turning others into mutants. Now only the West survives fending off against these mutants, with a special ops team designed to kill and destroy each of them.

Hmm... I do enjoy a good war-based plot. And the best part is that you can get very creative with it, in terms of characters. And a special ops? Sounds like a heavy-duty S.W.A.T. team. All in all, I think your idea would be excellent for the Club RP. Very unique in its own little way.

Biography: Um. I'm 12, I'm British and I have no self-confidence. Are we done? o.o Meh, came to the site January 2008, I think, joined an RP late June, had fun, realised I was getting better and here we are.

RolePlaying History: Honestly, not much. I can't remember exactly what I've roleplayed in, but not many have finished.

Room For Improvement: I need to increase the size of my RPing posts and actually stick to the RPs I join. And join more. T-T

Roxy told me to join. Look forward to working with ya'. =)

The character creation part does have its benefits in a type of roleplay such as this one. And yes its like a heavy duty Swat team, so the characters in the ops team will be advanced in some form of fighting or with some weapon. I may or may not allow members to create characters for the 10 mutants though im not sure. I still have to work on the fine points to this plot.

I read the lessons. o.o Instead of periodically providing hooks, wouldn't it be a good idea to design the RP as such that a new character can be introduced at any time, or at least more frequently? Like...an episodic structure? ...All throughout saying that I was thinking of Power Rangers. ;-;

As I have said, this is a unique plot, so there are very few limitations, if any on how absurd or how realistic you want it to be. This particular role-play seems to be a classic case of "Serious Drama", where the overtone of the entire role-play is serious and suspenseful, all the while providing excellent oppurtunities for the GM (namely you) to dazzle your members with amazing flights of fancy (a.k.a. the infamous plot-twist).

I for one am a Co-GM for a Power Rangers RP (on this site if you've seen it). And while it sounds nice in theory, an episodic structure can only work under three conditions:

1.) The Members are genuinely dedicated to the RP.

2.) How active said members are.

3.) Whether said members are on the same page.

In the case of our PR RP, we have several episodes planned out, all the while considering new members to join. However, the new members would have to join at a time where it is convient (Given we had a large amount of applicants). We had that trouble not to long ago. It took too long because of inactiveness that some members actually dropped out or lost interest, thus we had to avert this crisis by placing the most recent members into the RP as quick as possible to avoid a total desertion. In otherwords, it takes ALOT of planning to do something in episodic structure.

The Hooks and Entry Point System is just a reference to any roleplay, not just ours. The official Roleplay, that is if 'Mutant Chronicles' becomes the official roleplay, it will be told in a series of Chronicles, each which will have its own plot and series of events. Those plots will be considered sub-plots to the overall main plot if you will, so Chronicles you could argue is like an episodic structure. Though, not all roleplays need an episodic structure.

Isn't that what this whole club is about though? Planning before practice? Theoretically it could be pulled off within this group.

That is what we're aiming to accomplish. Being able to create and organize a succesful roleplay, and finish it, through means of preperation. In one of my lessons I explain the process of planning out the plot and events of a roleplay. That is what i'll do. Make a goal, list the major events that happen in between, and explain each event more so that players have more of an understanding on how the story should be going.

Biography: Originally the only reason I joined this site was so I could catalogue my extensive custom card collection, however, I am a fan of RP's and could not shy away from it. I am a usual on certain RP's or those that take my fancy, and try to make successful RPs, but they fall through because of lack of interest.

RolePlaying History: I think my record is around 30, I'm not exactly positive myself. I treat RP like writing really, I try to give myself depth, energy and a little touch of humour. I stick with RPs until I see and know thye are dead, which is a shame as they're so fun. My only annioyance is when Rps advance too much when I can't get on.

No, the next task at hand is to join friday's roleplay and simply stay in it until it's over.

Okay then' date=' just wandering what type of RP is it? Real life, anime based, adventure, action, etc.?

[/quote']

If it's 'Mutant Chronicles' like stated earlier in this club, it'll be Science Fiction. Otherwise, it's still unclear.

so' date=' what exactly is going on?

[/quote']

To start off, I suggest reading the lessons in the first post. If you would like to pitch an idea for a roleplay feel free to post it here for some feedback. If you have a question regarding roleplaying, feel free to ask.
