Enrise
If you pay attention to it's looks, yes, it is like a crossbow, which can take out multiple enemies at once. But it is still a crossbow.
Shadowflame
Hey, Lord Zangetsu I think you need to up date the Mebers list. I've been looking at it and some people changed their names and some people went up in rank. Plus you haven't added our newest member yet. Sorry if it seems like I'm bossing you around. I'm just trying to be helpfull. Anyway I know that I'm the one who posted the question but battleswords > Battleaxes and Longbows > Crossbows. Battleswords are better because they are more versitile. Longbows, well I'm an archer so i can show favoritism right?
Adama.
They all have their uses though. Obviously, you're not gonna go into a sword fight with a battleaxe or shoot your sword at the opposing army. You can't shoot as fast with a longbow, but it can pierce armor, and with a crossbow you can mow down weaker armies more quickly. All are useful.{Adama}

Adama.
Yes, welcome John. However, I don't know if a sword and bow would work in combination, since bows are rather large too. I think thats why for close combat archers carried knives. {Adama}
Phantom Roxas
In RuneScape (Please don't flame me), you actually make a BowSword. Naturally, you never have the chance to use it. A combination between a sword and a crossbow would be more epic though. Or a gunblade.

Saturn of Elemia
I always liked the idea of using a Gunblade, but always wondered exactly HOW it would work. @Adama = You're right. Most archers did carry knives (usually hunting, rarely combat) on them in case they ran out of arrows or found themselves in close combat.
Adama.
Please excuse me for geeking out here, but a bow that shot swords would be really awesome. Better yet, flaming swords. Wow, that is probably the least intelligent post I have ever made x}. It must have been tough to be an archer when you ran out of arrows though, it would take you out of your comfort zone. {Adama}

Shadowflame
if they got through the front line then the archers would heve to fight(or maybe run but i dont consider that an option). and archers werent always on the high ground or on top of a castle wall some times archers were right behind the front line. Force_Flex
I'm not saying that they weren't. What I'm saying, is that the archers did throw things when out of arrows. On the top of the castles, the would even throw bodies. During siege, the army preforming the siege would catapult dead cows into the water and food supply as well as into the castle walls in hopes of poisoning the enemy. The archers on the tops also would pour hot tar, molten metal (on rare occasions), greek fire and anything else hot and pourable. My point is: War is a dirty, messy and just plain cruel thing, and even worse back then. Just think for a moment; Now, you're just shooting people from far away (no offense to anyone. I fully respect vets). Back then, you saw the people you were killing. You saw their faces.
Davok
^Agreed completely with above post. Also, come on, do you honestly think another archer will let you borrow his arrows, his weapons, his defense? So yeah, they would probably throw anything if they're out of arrows. And let me tell you, the knights were hardly the most honorable group of people you could ever meet.

Saturn of Elemia
If nothing else, you could grab arrows that were fired by the enemy that landed nearby and use those - pending they all missed you, of course.

Shadowflame
Thats true. some archers would scoure the battlefield after the battle searching for arrows still in good shape pulling them out of corpses if necessary
