just use them to make splices' date=' and edit then it isnt stealing... t'is wat i do ^^

No, that's still stealing because you're using work that isn't even yours to begin with.

The only reason it's any different with the official sprites is because everyone knows where official ones actually come from (At least, those people who work with them a lot), and by social convention it's just become 'normal' to use them.

I would suggest getting out of that habit before anyone ends up getting angry at you.

We Can't Use Those Without Asking The Creator.... Post The Link You Found It On.

Interesting, I don't ever recall you asking me to use my sprites.

huh

:/ Noo, because when people make sprites with the real pokemon sprites, no1 says it is stealing and they are copyrighted so it isnt stealing ... there not the same sprite, it is if u pass them off as your own (i.e an unedited sprite)

I told you, no one says its stealing because it's become a societal norm for pokemon-rooted spriters to use them. In effect, it IS stealing (copyright infringement, technically, but same thing), it's just that Nintendo and Gamefreak don't care what 12-year-olds do with their work.

If you take a chapter from Harry Potter, change the names and put it in your own book, when you send it to the publisher, you will probably be sued or cited for plagiarism.

Same idea here, except with pictures, and on a less grand of a scale.

hmm... off-topice much? at least it's meaningful off-topicness.

All of those sprites were made by a member named neoriceisgood. He has his own forum called the Midamis Region.

I spoke to Derek Whaley about the theft yesterday. He has removed the sprites. As far as I can see the whole thing is resolved.

all the sprites i posted are mine, i only edit/splice real pokemon as well, and i make a large part of mine from scratch, the only 2 of mine that might be called stealing, are 2 i got from pokemon chaos black (the bootleg game) and recolored them, other than that, my 30+ pokemon, and all my maps are mine (my trainers are just recolores though) but i started my own project, because i dont want to get dragged down when D_W brakes a law and thay send evryone whos on here a find.

This project will cease until all issues have been resolved.

To outsiders will plagarism claims: If you have a complaint that a sprite or splice or whatever has been stolen. PM the page and post numbers it was posted in this thread, you must also provide proof that they are yours or belong to someone you would like to defend on your behalf, so PM me links to threads on your own sites along with the other required information just stated.

To YCM members of this project: This thread will be locked until then, and anyone who is part on this project can also PM me if needed. I hope to resolve this situation quickly, and when, and only when this is done, I will allow this to continue. I will remind all members of YCM that are on this project that I am the judge, jury, and executioner of this and if you are found guilty of breaking Rule 15 or even more possible, Rule 2, you will be facing a ban, so if you have anything to own up to, you'd better PM me before someone else does.

Thank you for your attention.
