Discussion: Yugioh TCG VS Pokémon TCG

Recommended Posts

Let's start by comparing the Draw Power in both the games.

In case anyone doesn't know what drawpower pokemon has' date=' they have quite a bit:

Then there's the infamous "Mom's Kindness".

I haven't played Pokemon TCG in forever, because no one I know plays it IRL, and because I lost my GBA about 3 years ago and can't play the TCG video game anymore.

On that note, everything I say here can be, and most likely is, horribly horribly wrong and/or inaccurate.

I believe resource management is much different between the two games. It doesn't matter how much you draw in Pokemon, because you can only attack once per turn with your current active Pokemon. Pokemon need energy cards of equal color in order to attack, and you can only equip one energy card per turn. (Ignoring Pokemon Powers and Trainer card effects for right now.)

Pokemanz tcg is easier then yugimonz IMO

Idd. I notice that when giving Pokémon and Yugioh demos on the same day. Even kiddoz can understand Pokémon. They almost never come to the Yugioh demo. (either that or they're affraid of my DAD-playmat.)

If you're going by draw power, there aren't many TCGs that can claim to even come close to Pokemon TCG. But, as has been said, PokeTCG operates under a much different resource system than YGO. One attack, one Energy equip, one Supporter, one Evolution per pogey, etc. Everything slows down. Then we have the actual deck size. 60 cards. The reason draw power in YGO is allowed to be so powerful is a combination of a pretty unrestricted play style and the size of the decks. It is a lot easier to draw into something you need in a 40 card deck than it is in a 60 card deck.

Ironically, I run 5 of the examples in my Deck. And Uxie lv X too, of course.

Mom's Kindness sucks.

Pokemon is so much easier and so much quicker. Just get Lugia EX (which I lost when I used to have cards) then you can kill like five Pokemon before being killed... In my way of play. But I still think YGO is better.

If you Rare Candy a Machop, you can kill Lugia.

Thus the term "infamous".

This. Machamp has a built in OHKO against Basic Pokemon. Besides, Lugia EX has been banned for a while now. >.>

YGO is way behind when it comes to draw power' date=' i mean Pokemon has cards that let you draw [b']8[/b] cards.

Fixed.

i dont remeber all the details but i used to play back when it first came out practiclly and there is alot of ways to draw in pokemon but you cant have too many active cards at once in pokemon (excluding the bench barely wich barely counts) so its not much of a danger to draw like that or have massive max hand sizes, wich in Yugioh with the alternate win conditions drawing as much as you can in pokemon would mean otks flying everywhere. exodia would be banned if we could draw like pokemon

Oh yea? Chex mix this out:

NintendoPromoJirachi.jpg

It turns any Energy into a +2

I said 8... Either way, isn't that ALSO banned now? xD Besides, how's that relevant to my post at all?

You said Pokemon TCG has cards that let you draw 8. So I was just randomly showing a card that has a drawing effect-on-crack.

Plus, Its a fun card for casual games

(I wish I had 3 more copies of it though >__>)
