Open up GIMP

 

on your first layer ( in white ), paste your Background you want.

 

Then, press CTRL+SHIFT+N and press ENTER to create a new layer.

 

On that layer paste your new image you want to go ontop.

 

On the top layer, cut our the background and erase the parts you don't want, this will make the BG show up through the new layer.

 

It's easy.
