The violet flames raged as they leveled the buildings. With a fell swoop, the Statue of Liberty was sliced through the midsection. It seemed to stay in place for all but a second before the upper half of the landmark fell from where it once was and into the vast ocean below. The scream of a man could be heard as the statue sank, but the noise was silenced once it's holder had drowned with the statue.

 

Karasu Yamamoto stared at the large hummingbird that apparently caused this chaos. The Duel Disk that was strapped to his hand returned turned off, now that the duelist - no, the Dark Signer - had finished his duel. The large creature faded away.

 

"That man was not a Signer." Karasu had said, seemingly talking to himself.

"But he was worth the challenge, was he not?" a voice had answered with malice in it's reply.

"I suppose."

 

Cards scattered all around, and another Duel Disk had fallen to the ground before Karasu.

"Touching," the Dark Signer mocked with a slight grim, "He cared for his cards, and even his Duel Disk, more than his own life."

"We've slain him, so he most certainly won't need them anymore."

"No, his cards were absolute garbage; that's how I was able to tell he wasn't a Signer."

"You can tell if one is a Signer simply by their cards? I was fortunate to find your body among the flames that scorched the very airplane that was to ensure your safe arrival."

"It's not that."

"Then what?"

"A Signer duels with true skill and courage. That man was weak and feared his inevitable death each time either of us drew."

 

The Earthbound Immortal chuckled. "The pride of a Dark Signer. You're even more proud than Cusillu's last partner.
