Eury
Eh. I need a new team for the BF. Tyranitar and Metagross are perfect but Gliscor keeps getting killed by Palmer's Milotic. >_> I have 2 Pokemon that are pretty good for it, but I need a 3rd. My 2 are: Breloom -Poison Heal- @Toxic Orb-Adamant- 252 ATK / 252 HP FacadeSeed BombMach PunchSwords Dance Suicune -Pressure- @ ?-Modest- 252 SpAtk / 252 ?SurfIce Beam Roar? Then I have a choice b/w an Adamant Pinsir, Adamant Tyranitar, Brave Metagross, Calm Regice, Lonely Bastiodon, Brave Skarmory, Naive Sceptile, Serious Dusknoir, Naive Electivire, Jolly (shiny) Mightyena, Adamant Arbok, Adamant Infernape, Quiet Lapras, Jolly (shiny) Zangoose, Adamant Armaldo, Jolly Staraptor, Lonely Weavile, Careful Umbreon, Naive Raikou, Brave Absol. ...yeah. :/

And with Brightpowder AND Sandstorm, you can Sub up and wait for Palmer's attack to miss. You have 4 uses of Substitute if you EVd your Gliscor correctly (or as long as its HP is not divisible by 4). Then you can Double Team. Brightpowder and Sandstorm reduces a 100% accurate move down to at least below 80%. So hitting 4 times in a row would be a maximum of 41%. EDIT: And again, walking into Battle Tower (or any Frontier place, really) with just EVd Pokemon isn't enough. You don't know how many times I walked in with Garchomp, Heatran and something else (probably Cress). They were perfectly EVd and had amazing movesets. But I never got to a 100 win streak. Hell, the highest I would've gotten to would be less than the first Palmer battle. Unless you have some kind of plan (like Baton Pass, Smeargle Abuse, Hail set-up, etc.), you are going to have a major hard time trying to get anywhere. If Baton Pass isn't working well for you, try Smeargle Abuse. Somehow get a Smeargle with... 252 HP, 252 Speed + Timid @ Leftovers -Spore-Whirlwind/Roar (depends on whether you see Soundproof or Suction Cup Pokemon more often)-Generic stat boost move.-Baton Pass Use to your advantage that the AI's in Battle Tower have no clue what Sleep Clause is. So sleep their entire time with a Spore/Whirlwind combo. Use a stat boost (hopefully ATK or SpA, unless you have something like a Ramparados who has enough ATK and just needs Speed), and Baton Pass out. Hopefully the only damage you take is the first attack before you Spore, since Smeargle only has Base 75 Spe. Your other Pokemon can be one stat receiver and one mixed wallbreaker. Basically, something with ATK/SpA and Speed EVs who can get your boosts and sweep, and something with HP, ATK and SpA EVs who can break down bulky Pokemon (while they are sleeping) before you do your Baton Pass thing. Smeargle will only be OHKO'd by some STAB super-effecting mega-ultra-super move, so don't worry about it failing on you like Gliscor did. For your wallbreaker, I'd try something bulky with good HP and at least decent offenses. That way you can use type coverage to your advantage and break walls. Putting Toxic wouldn't be a bad idea, but it'd conflict with your sleep. For your stat receiver, if you are passing Agility, use something like Ramparados, who is slow but amazingly awesome at attacking. Or if you are passing Dragon Dance, Swords Dance, or Bulk Up, take advantage of bulky Pokemon who could use some attack boosts. If you are passing Nasty Plot or Calm Mind, maybe something like Suicune (if it had some more SpA) wouldn't be a bad idea. Basically, take something that doesn't have time to set up (or maybe it does), get rid of its own set up move for type coverage, and pass stuff with Smeargle. If you need to, just hack the Smeargle for the moves. Battle Frontier people don't notice; they let me bring WonderTomb into the Tower back in Diamond. I lulzed so hard. Tentacruel
I know I want to start a new game at some point, and Yellow Forest ends tomorrow so I'm gonna restart today. Now, am I dumb for not putting my starter on my main team?

Now, am I dumb for not putting my starter on my main team?[/quote'] No. Out of all the starters, the Johto ones are probably the weakest. I'd honestly have to say the Kanto starters are the weakest, assuming we are basing our judgement on all three. Charizard is the only good final form in Gen I. Venusaur and Blastoise are really lacking a lot. In Johto, you have Feraligatr and Typhlosion as good final forms. And in the last two gens, you have either 1 or 2 good final forms (Blaziken, though you could also argue Swampert in Hoenn, and Empoleon and Infernape in Sinnoh). But grass starters have always sucked. <_<

And I'd recommend Ty over Arcanine, but since you have that set in your mind, run a Tauros. Two Fire-types is redundant. And no, Turtwig was horrible. It has a 4x weakness to Ice, pretty bad attacks, not wonderful stats... hell, even Chikorita is better because it can learn some pretty cool support moves. <_<

Speaking of Turtwig, I made a save file of my original Pearl game file. In my first try at a re-run, I got a female Turtwig. I named it Twiggy. :D Anyone know some reliable Shiny hunting tricks for HG/SS? I really want a shiny Meowth. Also, what color is a shiny Persian? Dark
I think Shiny Persian is a darker/lighter shade of yellow. If I remember correctly, it isn't a huge change. I named it Twiggy. OHOHOHOHOHAHAHAHAHA. <_< And even in-game, Turtwig is really lacking good stats and good typing. A lot of things can learn Ice Beam. A LOT. Chimchar because Infernape is obviously up there. I went out and headbutted a tree a couple hundred times to get a Pineco to breed with my Beedril for Toxic Spikes. They did it and I got the moves I wanted. So I just sat there having the new Pineco pop out eggs hoping for an Impish natured one. It was level 100 just from the daycare by the time I got an Impish Pineco. Turns out, the one I was using to breed was Impish and had perfect IVs. I was SOOO pissed.
