Gym Leaders will not rematch until after you beat Blue, they will keep saying about better gym leaders out there until then, even if you ring them at their designated times ypu can still get their numbers. Once you beat Blue, like the route trainers they will battle you as many times as you want during their time, unlike the route trainers instead of being in their previous match place, you can find them at Saffron Dojo.

I defeated the Whitney. Same team as before but 2 more levels to each one, and evolved Togepi.

Battle:

Sent Mareep vs Clefairy. Spammed Thundershock and Headbutt. Metronome decreased M's HP to around half before fainting. Sent Miltalk. Used Rollon. My hp is down to red. Used Thunder Wave. I was distracted next turn, next time I checked, Miltank was healed; I attacked with something that didn't make more than a bit of damage. Next turn she uses stomp. Mareep is defeated but Miltank hit the Static. I sent Geodude. Spammed Rock Smash until I defeated her. The super potion and Milk Drink weren't enough to save her, due to the defense decrease...

Team is 66-77. Gonna get them all to about 75-80' date=' beat E4, destroy Clair and Lance, and then train for Red.

I spammed Bugsy in the time I had free and got Typhlosion to Lv 70. Miltank is a b****.

[/quote']

No offense, but what the hell? If your team is around Lv75 and Lv80, you sure as hell don't need to train for Red. With an ounce of strategy, you can beat him with Level 65's or even going as low as low 60's.

I actually like to over level my pokemon, so when I manuever around the trainers going through, and I get to the gym, I go backa and battle them. Pointless? Yes.

I employ a somewhat-similar strategy. Once I get the Fly TM, just rush to the town with the gym. Once I am there, THEN fight all the trainers on the previous routes and in the gyms. And then take on the gym leader. Ehh, it makes it easier if you need to heal mid-way or something.

And I am fine with battling all the trainers, but I absolutely despise grinding. It's a Pokemon game, you don't need to forcefully overlevel your Pokemon. It's not a hard game, and you are making it even easier. My logic is that (since you can use almost-infinite items) your Pokemon should be 20 levels lower than Red (so around 68 or so), 8 to 10 levels lower than the Elite Four (on either runthrough), and 4 to 6 levels lower than the Gym Leaders. The trainers on routes and in the gyms are always going to be underleveled in comparison to you, and you can't do a damn thing about it.

Just as an update, I am stalling out battling Blue because I have some loose ends to tie up in Johto. Catching Ho-oh, owning the Safari Zone (or something), that sort of stuff. Then I'll catch Articuno, and then beat Blue to a pulp. And in total, for 5 legends (4 legends and Snorlax, really), I used a total of 104 Pokeballs. So I stocked up some more and now I have 250. So that should last me for the three birds, Ho-oh, and maybe Mewtwo and Groudon. Apparently Ho-oh is a bitch to catch, being at Level 70, so I am assuming roughly 100 balls for him and 50 for each bird. I have very low expectations for my catching skill, you see.

What do you mean a "surfing Pokemon". I'm pretty sure Totodile and/or Croconaw can learn Surf.

And yeah, Union Cave basement. <3

Because I have OCD, I'm going to want to collect all the items in the Sacred Tower (or wherever Ho-oh lives), meaning I better get a ton of Super Repels. <_<

Oh' date=' like it matters. You understood what I meant[/b']

I bet a whole lot of people wouldn't want to make their starter a HM slave

And yeah, Union Cave basement. <3

<3 For extensive knowledge

But Surf is actually a decent HM (Waterfall, too, but I wouldn't recommend that for a starter).

I always thought Strength was a decent HM to use, until I realized my Pokemon were all special attackers, none of them got STAB, and it was a waste of a moveslot. <_<

Feraligatr is a very physical Sweeper so Waterfall is better than surf for him...

Same for Swampert

EMpoleon and Blastoise have More SP ATK so they can learn surf anyday

Strenght is a Stong attack now...80 Base is decent in a Good physical Attacker Normal Pokemon like Snorlax

And I tought My Torterra to Rock Climb coz he is just that awesome...XD
