Wow... Naruto has originality problems

Recommended Posts

Used in the first episode of Naruto the Abridged series, and pointed out way before that, so yeah, has been said. Don't think there has been a thread on it before though?

Probably just both come from the same myth. In fact, I'm pretty sure it is.

But they both tried it differently, that's for sure. One curses whoever touches it's tail, the other flattens mountains and creates tsunamis. One is a plot point, the other is still a plot point, but only for a specific game of it.

Besides, it's difficult to think of anything original these days. Either try to put a new spin on it, or just do it well or better.

As usual? When do I make good points?

Well, if you think it's worth discussing, why not?

Well... Their personalities are very different. It's just the general body that makes them similar... Umm, gee, can't think of much else that shows similarities...

I suppose the thousand-year curse thing is bad luck in Pokemon, as is Kyuubi's mere appearance in Naruto. Ninetails however can be rather kind and loyal to counterbalance this, while the nine tailed fox... May have a spark of good, depending on who you ask.

One extreme to another perhaps?

The Kyuubi is a legendary Japanese myth, just like Jovi said. There's also Kyuubimon. Since that's a Digimon, that's closer to deserving the mantle of "Ninetails Rip-Off", but Digimon>Pokemon when it comes to Anime, so it doesn't count, as well as the fact that Ninetails itself is a "rip-off" of a Japanese myth. Saying that the Kyuubi in Naruto is a rip-off of Ninetails it just like saying that the Sovereigns from Digimon are rip-offs of the Four Saint Beasts from Yu Yu Hakusho.

Also established was that everyone thought of Ninetails the very second they say the Kyuubi. However, neither Ninetails, Naruto's Kyuubi, or Kyuubimon are rip-offs, but based on a fictional creature. A Kyuubi is probably as common in Japanese folklore as a dragon in basically any kind of folklore.

And if that didn't drive the point home, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsune

Yes we all know about Ninetails.

How about these?

Orochimaru's Sword of Kusanagi and Itachi's Yata Mirror. Both known in Japanese Myths/legends and have also been made in cards in The Duelist Genesis. If you look at almost every anime now, it has some sort of base on Japanese Myths and Legends. Dragonball is an excellent example. Based on the ancient tale of Son Goku.

In short, nothing is truely "original" although it may appear to be.

Man with this logic.. the Blue Eyes White Dragon is a rip off of Dragonite because they're both dragons.. or Goku from Dragonball is a rip off of Superman because they both are super strong, can fly and shoot "lasers" from their body... >.> The Nine Tails Fox is a common myth in Japan..

Hey, guys, certain Japanese franchises have drawn from Japanese mythology. Therefore, originality does not exist in this world.

Also, I read this one English story, and guess what? It had an angel in it! Ladies and gentlemen, this is a clear and blatant ripoff of Christian mythology. There is obviously no originality in anything anywhere ever.
