Bunter Dwayne
I have a theory -- a theory that hath been well researched... I reckon that the Yugioh art is getting slowly more graphic (and better). Just compare Basic Insect to Explode Wing Dragon. Give more instances on scary, dark, graphic cards. GenzoTheHarpist
This theory is sheet.
Bunter Dwayne
Is it? Look through the beginning works of art on cards, then, when you come to PSZ, you'll see what I mean. Unless, you mean the theory is pointless?
The Crimson King
While the theory seems interresting, I fail to see the complete logic behind it. While the card art does seem to get more graphic, the spammy sensoring gets more annoying. Take Armed Wing for instance.
GenzoTheHarpist
The theory is meaningless. A lot of artwork was graphic before (though it may have been censored.)
Hobbes96
lol. why the heck does konami censor cards?because Americans can sue
Bunter Dwayne
Yeah. It does look stupid. Ok, then, how about making instances of censoring as well? Like Water Omotics.
The Crimson King
In order to keep up with the meaningless animes YuGiOh has produced the card art has to be made more graphic to keep up with the "coolness".
Bunter Dwayne
But...but...Dark Magician (gangsta style) was really cool... The cards now are just grotesque.
Smeg
Theory isn't very good, and it's been discussed before, Basic Insects art is more epic anyway.
Bunter Dwayne
What do you mean 'isn't very good'? Where is a really graphic picture in the LOB to EEN timeline that you can find? And, I need at least 3 to stop you smartarses from posting one. Well, I guess Yamata Dragon was kinda weird...
Smeg
DissolverockMammoth GraveyardMasaki the Legendary Swordsman The art was a different style back then, much more darker. Now cards are designed to look more 'fun' even darks arn't as twisted. The art used to have details, but in different ways.
Bunter Dwayne
Dissolverock ~ NOMammoth Graveyard ~ NOMasaki the Legendary Swordsman ~ HECK NO I could draw all of the aforementioned cards. And in no way are they graphic.
~Ghost Rare~
In what terms do you mean graphic..??
Bunter Dwayne
Graphic as in grotesque, violent and / or bloody. As in Plaguespreader Zombie.
CrabHelmet
He's a carrier of the bubonic plague and he's dead. Of course he's not going to look as nice as an ordinary insect.
Bunter Dwayne
Yeah, I suppose so. But still, compare him to, say, Skull Servant. Plaguespreader gives me nightmares. Servant helps me sleep.
Guest PikaPerson01
What's this!? An artist evolves, changes, and improves his art style as he matures!? B-b-b-blasphemy!

(of course they need to improve)2) Don't compare them with the wost old pics you could find, they had their good moments. ;)
Bunter Dwayne
I'm not commenting on how awesome they look, it's the ugly factor I want. Chaos Emperor's art is THE best Yugioh art IN THE WORLD, but it isn't particularly grotesque at all, it's more striking. The only ugly, grotesque one I can think of before the new sets is Yamata Dragon.

~Emo~
No, it uses the same type of art BI did. The art varies, if he wants to make dragons Dark/evil, he'll make them Dark/evil. If he wants to make fairies cute, he'll make fairies cute.
