I find it pointless rediculous that this post is still running. This theory has already been discussed on this site, and heres the clincher, it is nothing of the sort. The anime is going downhill. Fast. Nintendo merely thought that including the female protagonist in each season (which they couldn't do for G/S/C because it takes place three years later, and the female protagonist isn't introduced until Crystal) would promote the game more, but had to remove Misty due to the fact that they wanted to avoid a harem anime. Also, they wanted to maintain their audience, so they kept Ash 10 years old for 10 years. It is all marketing.

... no

That would be too mature for an anime that barely makes it to teen in Japan

It is merely the fact that the anime has been running for 10+ years now, and they have run out of ideas (hence team rokcet showing up with a giant robot in every episode. Do they even remember why they want Ash's Pikachu?)

Yes, but it has been sick several times, been drained of power, knows some of the worst moves, ect ect

After 5 regions (six if you include battle frontier), I don't know how many movies (I want to say 10+, and each ties in with the rest of the anime) and side battles, Ash's Pikachu should have passed the equivalent of lv100 by now (to a point where its electric attacks do damage to ground pokemon). But each season, it appears to get weaker and weaker. This is because the anime is losing most of its fans after each region now, so they must write for Ash as if from the beginning.

Plus, if you think about it, it was never powerful. It merely got lucky and managed to actually do some damage to the lv10 pokemon Jesse and James were carrying. Soon enough, it became a reccuring occurance, and now it is just pointless. I don't think team galactic is even IN Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (of course I stopped watching after the G/S seasons).

But, as I have stated earlier, the coma theory is too mature. Furthermore, the writers don't think like that. It is merely a ploy to milk the series for all it's got. (Personally, I think that Ash should have been dropped as the main character by winning the Indigo Plateau challange, which should have been the elite four and Gary, and moved on to the other characters from G/S, as well as introducing the girl from Crystal).

The fame screwed up the anime.

I agree with everything Promethius has said.

Honestly, the fact that it's still about Ash after all this time is just wrong. And as he said, that damn Pikachu should have long since reached god-like status.

And yet in every region, it still somehow loses to every new challenge (or has an impossibly hard time with it).

No one cares that Brock keeps chasing women. No one cares that Ash is apparently the most all-around good guy you'll ever meet, who somehow triumphs each of his sgortcomings in every episode.

I might have kept watching regularly if they actually changed the characters to fit the region.

Digimon - It's a lot less popular. But it's way more respected. Why? Because it has frequently exibited mature themes, interesting characters, and with the exception of 01&02, had a new cast and premise with each season.

And each season actually had an end in sight. Does Pokemon? No. They have no planned ending. They're just going to keep running it until it dies.

I still think im gonna watch the first season all over again, it was pretty entertaining.

Even though Pikachu SHOULD have as much power as a legendary monster, then he would keep PWNING every pokemon that he comes in contact of. But to continue the series, he has to be at a certain level in which he can lose AND win.

The anime will continue as long as the games and merchandise keep selling out.

Pokemon is the king of merchandicing.

Lol, I can remember the days when there were absolutely no things pokemon, other than the anime, video games, and cards. (My mother once held me a pokemon-themed birthday party featuring Pikachu, Charmander, and Blastoise posters. All handmade. It was awesome!)

Wow' date=' there's a lot of discussion about this, this thread is getting hot, plz continue on with the discussion, I won't return to this site completely until the 15th of May...

Entertaining theory' date=' but obviously not true as it's a light-hearted children's anime show. If it was true I would be very, very happy, as the whole series would make tons more sense.

I agree that this is theory is not plausible. Basically, the people who have created the show (writers, producers, etc.) are trying to milk this series for all its worth and everything has gone downhill because they are running out of ideas and are basically rehashing old ideas.

Also, either the person who wrote this has a really deep mind, has too much time on their hands, or has no life.

I don't know what to add to this but with it being two am right now for me I am sooo tired and all i have to say is that it makes sense but what would be cool is if there is a sort of wizard of Oz ending that their are people of his dream really there that his mother found to introduce to him so that he would have friends when he woke up from a coma and they look like the people from the most recent series and they introduce them selves but have different names for example Dawn would probably be named Alice and Brock would actually be named Ryan and the picachu would be a stuffed animal that his mother bought for him before he fell into the coma what if the coma started before what we saw acctually started and that he fell into a coma with out us knowing.

The just bolded is why I stopped watching and the bold w/ underline is because it makes me love you <3.

I don't fully agree with it, but it makes sense. Since its a kids show I doubt.
