Backlash Time

 

[spoiler=WWE Crossroads' Backlash 2009]The absolutely awe-inspiring pyrotechnics display that marked the beginning of Backlash could be heard from across the road from the sold-out arena.

 

The Raw commentary team is sitting at their announce desk.

 

King: Wow, it's Backlash time and I can't remember the last time a crowd was this excited!

Cole: And they have every reason to be excited what an amazing night of wrestling we have in store for everyone here and everyone watching at home tonight!

 

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat Theme

 

The Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat makes his way down to the ring to quite possibly the loudest ovation he's ever heard, every fan in the arena was on their feet.

 

 

The cocky arrogant Superstar of 2008 made his way down to the ring, with a smirk on his face and a booing crowd all around.

 

The bell rings and the match begins, Jericho steps up to Steamboat, and slaps him across the face, Steamboat steps back before delivering a deep Arm Drag, and another, and another, Jericho backs into the corner.

 

King: Steamboat's Arm Drag is just as deadly as ever!

Cole: and now he's got Jericho cornered, how will The Superstar of the Year find his way out of this one.

 

Steamboat follows with a barrage of chops, Chris responds in kind with a chop of his own, before reversing his and Steamboat's positions, after a few chops he hits a Triangle Dropkick.

 

Cole: I'm not a big fan of Chris Jericho but I can sure respect that kind of skill, and now Steamboat's down in the corner, what's Chris gonna do here?

 

Jericho starts to stomp away at Steamboat in the corner and the ref gives him a 5-count to stop 1..2..3..4 Chris walks away, but runs back and nails a huge running knee to The Dragon. Chris pulls Steamboat to his feet, and Irish Whips The Dragon, Steamboat ducks Jericho on his way back, and manages to get behind him, and executes a Small Package pin 1...2..Jericho kicks out and turns, looking angered by Steamboat's pin attempt, he hits a few right hands before Steamboat comes back with a chop, and another, and steamboat unleashes a flurry of chops, he finally brings Jericho down with one, and goes to the top rope.

 

King: What's The Dragon thinking here?

Cole: I don't know but it looks like bad news for Chris Jericho partner!

 

Jericho gets to his feet and just as Steamboat is about to jump down with a flying Clothesline, Jericho shows phenomenal athleticism by leaping to the top rope, and nailing a Codebreaker!

 

King: Wow Jericho just nailed that absolutely awesome Codebreaker from the top rope!

Cole: The ref could count to a thousand, I don't see Steamboat getting up any time soon.

 

1...2...3 Jericho picks up the win in a hard fought match that could have gone either way.

 

[Winner Chris Jericho]

 

 

Mr. Money in the Bank makes his way to the ring, briefcase in hand prepared to meet the Big Red Monster, Kane as his last opponent on the Raw Roster, Kane would love to send Punk to Smackdown with a loss.

 

 

Kane Theme

 

The ring-side area reaches oven like temperatures as Kane walks down to the ring, and sets off an explosion of flame from the turnbuckle, the bell rings and the match is underway, Punk starts out by kicking Kane in the back of knee a few time, Kane reels back into the corner, but comes back with a brutal uppercut which levels Punk.

 

Punk gets to his feet only to be met by a Big-Boot from the monster Kane, who pulls Mr. Money in the Bank to his feet, and looks tor a Side Walk Slam but Punk knees him in the head a couple of times, escaping the predicament, and Irish Whipping Kane into the corner before going for his trademark Cloths line-and-Bulldog and combo, he hits the Cloths Line portion of the move, but Kane grabs him around the throat as he does, the big red monster walks forward and delivers an a massive Chokeslam!

 

Cole: What a counter by the Big Red Machine, Kane caught Punk around the throat and just decimated him with that amazing Chokeslam!

 

Kane pins 1...2...Punk Kicks out!

 

The Big Red Monster can't belive it, and after briefly arguing with the Referee, he climbs to the top rope, measuring CM Punk, as Punk gets to his feet, Kane looks for his diving Cloths Line, but punk ducks it, Kane turns, GTS!

 

King: GTS that's got to be it Micheal!

 

1..2...Kane powers out!

 

Punk pulls Kane to his feet again, and looks for a second GTS, but Kane escapes and tries another powerful Chokeslam, but Punk Manages to kick out and hits another GTS!

1...2...3 THAT'S IT!

 

[Winner: CM Punk]

 

Cole: And CM Punk picks up a big win here, and he just put every champion in the back on notice!

 

King: Kane's a former World Champion himself he's as good as they come and CM Punk can pull off another match like that he could win the World title any time!

 

 

ECW's interim General Manager Tiffany stands in the ring, with a covered object in her arms.

 

Tiffany: Hey everybody, as you know, I am Tiffany, Interim General Manager of ECW and I have a surprise for all of you here tonight!

 

The fans go wild for Tiffany as she removes the cover from the Crusierweight Championship.

 

This is the Crusierweight Championship and I as General Manager of ECW am reinstating this title here tonight, and right now, we're gonna have a Crusierweight title Match.

 

Evan Bourne Theme

 

As “Air” Bourne makes his way out to the ring, giving his trademark V-for-victory taunt, to the fans, who cheer wildly for the high-flyer. Tiffany leaves the ring for the backstage area.

 

Tyson Kidd Theme

 

The last man to ever graduate from the Hart Dungeon makes his way down the ramp, to the boos of fans, Natalya Niedheart in toe, Kidd looks ready for action, in the biggest match of his career.

 

 

The former “Super Hero” makes his way to the ring to the cheers of the crowd, he was the longest running Cruierweight champion last time he held the gold, and he'd love a chance to beat his own record here tonight.

 

Zack Ryder Theme

 

Edge's former “student” makes his way out to the ring, this is his first shot at singles gold, and in this Fatal-4-way environment he'll be hard pressed to win it, but the question is “is Hawkins the only reason for Ryder's success?”

 

The bell rings and this surprise title match is under way. Bourne Brawls with Ryder, and Kidd and Helms go at it. Ryder throws Bourne from the ring he and Kidd begin to double-team Hurricane Helms, until they hit a devastating double-suplex before Bourne comes into the ring, and hits a missile dropkick on Ryder. Kidd seizes the opportunity and applies a side headlock to Bourne.

 

Striker: What a series of events here Josh, this surprise match might just steal the show at this rate!

 

Josh: I agree Matt, and the Cruiserweight gold coming to ECW is gonna change the WWE's landscape in a big way!

 

Ryder rolls out of the ring, as does Hurricane Helms, and the pair start brawling on the outside, meanwhile Bourne tries to battle out of the hold, with a pair of elbow strikes to the stomach, a third causes Kidd to break the hold, but he goes straight to a school-boy pin.

 

1...2...kick out.

 

Back on the outside, Helms slams Ryder's head into the apron, he goes to do so a second time but Ryder blocks it and hits an elbow to the stomach, he slips out behind him, before turning the tables on Ryder with a slam into the apron of his own, then, throwing you shoulder-first into the ring post.

 

Back in the ring, Bourne and Kidd continue to exchange moves, Bourne whips Kidd into the corner, and looks to hit a running Cloths Line, Kidd dodges and connects with a Reverse Neck-Breaker, then, goes to the apron, looking for his trademark Springboard Elbow, only to have Zack Ryder pull him to the floor by the ankle, his jaw slams against the apron, and Ryder takes his place back in the ring , and covers Bourne 1..2...no. Helms comes back into the ring and delivers a series of shots to Ryder, he whips Ryder into the ropes, and sets low for a backdrop, but Ryder uses the ropes to stop his momentum, before running back of his own accord and delivering a dropkick to Helms. Ryder hooks the leg 1...2..Helms kicks out, an angered Ryder turns around only to feel a Huricanranna from Bourne that takes them both down, Natalya drags Bourne from the ring, and throws him into the barrier as Kidd comes back by leaping into the ring with a Springboard Elbow Drop on Hurricane Helms 1...2...3

 

[Winner, and new champion Tyson Kidd]

 

Striker: What a huge win for Tyson Kidd, ECW's first ever Cruiserweight Champion, and this is really gonna shake things up in the Land of Extreme!

 

Josh: I couldn't agree more, but speaking of Extreme lets cut over to JR and Todd Grisham for the “I Quit” match between the Hardy brothers.

 

Todd: Thanks guys, now lets take a look back on this extremely personal rivalry!

lMatt Hardy Theme

 

The crowd boos as the “black-hearted” Matt Hardy makes his way down to the ring, microphone in hand.

 

Matt Hardy: “I would just like to dedicate this match to all my brother Jeffery Nero Hardy's fans who after tonight, will experience a great loss, after tonight, they'll never ever get to see Jeff Hardy in this ring again! Now as for his more talented brother...

 

The crowd suddenly goes ballistic and Matt is cut off when the Extreme Enigma charges through the stands, and jumps the guard rail Singapore cane in hand and delivers a thunderous shot to the back of Matt Hardy, and another, and Jeff goes absolutely mental with the weapon, he breaks it in half, over his brothers back only to club him with both pieces of the broken cane, the referee moves to ask Matt if he quits, but Jeff pushes the ref down, and hurls Matt from the ring.

 

Todd: Jeff Hardy, Jeff Hardy!

 

JR: And Jeff Hardy brutally attacking his brother!

 

Matt gets to his feet and staggers to the announce area, Jeff follows his brother, leaving the weapon in the ring, he spins Matt to face him, only to have a microphone blast him in the head, Jeff falls to the ground and Matt begins to pummel Jeff with the microphone, shots that can be heard through out the arena, Matt pulls his brother to his feet and nails a Twist of Fate, before climbing on top of the Raw announce desk and delivering a Leg Drop.

 

JR: My god! Matt Hardy is hell-bent on destroying his brother!

 

Matt picks up the Microphone

 

“QUIT JEFF”

 

Jeff: *gasp* No...

 

Matt starts to pull his brother to his feet, but gets pushed off into the ring post head first. Jeff gets up and runs, Drop Kicking Matt face-first into the post, he slides a bloody Matt back into the ring, then looks under it producing a ladder a chair, and a trash can.

 

Hardy throws the the weapons into the ring, before entering with the Ladder.

 

Matt slowly staggers to his feet, only to have a trash can thrown over his head and hit with the chair,

Jeff leaves the can on his brothers head and begins to climb the ladder chair in hand.

 

JR: My god! What the hell is Jeff thinking!

 

Jeff jumps holding the chair in both hands, under his body, Matt rolls out of the way, and Jeff crashes to the ground, his fingers trapped under the chair, and his Jaw smashed into it!

 

Neither brother stirs for what must be 20 seconds, then Matt finally shows a sign of life, removing the can, crawling to the ropes, and pulling himself to his feet, he drags his brother into the corner, positions his now injured fingers on the second rope, and stands on them, putting all his weight on that one foot, then twists his foot.

 

JR: This is torture, no-one can be expected to withstand this, let-alone from their own flesh and blood!

 

Todd: I don't think Jeff Hardy's any exception JR!

 

Jeff screams in pain “I quit I quit!”

 

The bell rings [Winner Matt Hardy]

 

JR: That was an incredible match, and Matt Hardy might not have ended his brother's career, but he's certainly put it on hold here tonight!

 

Todd: Ladies and gentlemen we'll try to update you on Jeff Hardy's condition as the night continues, bu right now over to our Raw colleagues.

 

King: That was an amazing match from Matt and Jeff Hardy, but now it's time for something a little of what I'm sure is gonna be comedic relief !

 

The Great Khali Theme

 

Khali makes his way down to the ring accompanied by his translator Runjin Singh the fans are cheering wildly for the Punjabi Playboy.

 

Runjin picks up a microphone.

 

Runjin: The great Khali has been waiting since Wrestlemania for this moment and without further adieu I give you, the lovely Santina Marella!

 

 

Santino makes his way down to the ring.

 

Santino: Mr. Khali I regret to inform you, that my sister, she is not here tonight, she made an error in booking and due to differences in time-zones, Santina will not arrive until late tonight, however, I'm'a sure if you go to the air port at around mid-night she'll be their to give you what you want. Runjin starts translating to Khali.

 

Beth Phoenix Theme

 

Beth steps out onto the stage.

 

“Hey, Khali, I think you might wanna see this, it's a little video from backstage at Wrestlemania.”

 

[A video appears on the titantron of Santina celebrating her victory in the battle royal, only to remove her “hair” and reveal Santino below.

 

The Great Khali looks outraged, before delivering a massive Khali Chop to Santino!

 

After a promotional video for Judgment Day, WWE's next pay per view, we return to the ECW Commentary desk.

 

Striker: Well ladies and gentlemen welcome to the main event portion of the program, which we're about to kick off with Christian Vs. Jack Swagger, which I've just been informed will be a Tables Match

 

Christian Theme

 

Captain Charisma makes his way to the ring, flanked by cheering fans, ready perhaps, to claim his first ECW championship reign, Christian sets up a table in the corner of the ring while waiting for Swagger.

 

Jack Swagger Theme

 

The All-American American with a smile resembling that of a Cheshire cat walks down the ramp, not caring at all about the boos of the crowd.

 

The bell rings and the match begins.

 

Christian and Swagger lock up, Swagger attempts an early Suplex, but Christian counters with a Suplex of his own, before starting to stomp away at Swagger, and delivering a knee drop to the champion, and finally pulling to his feet. Swagger Irish whips Christian into the corner with the table in it, Swagger charges Christian looking to end it early, but Christian moves out of the way and Swagger crashes into -but not through- the table, Christian Looks for an Unprettier but Swagger drives through the second rope, taking Christian with him, and the two of them brawl on the floor, a battle in which Swagger prevails by legally kneeing Christian in the groin, and delivering a Snap Suplex on the floor. Christian writhes in pain, while Swagger grabs the ring bell, from the time-keeper.

 

Striker: Well Jack Swaggah's in control now, and I'd say Christian's in a whole lot of trouble here!

 

Josh: The man has the Ring Bell, he wants to do serious damage Matt!

 

Swagger throws the bell into the ring, and does like-wise to Christian, but when Swagger himself comes into the ring, Christian blasts him with the bell.

 

Christian pulls Swagger to his feet, and looks to Irish Whip swagger into the Table, but Swagger gets a foot on the Table and is able to stop the momentum, Christian charges at Swagger, Jack catches Christian and tries to Flap-jack him through the table, but Christian's elevated to high and only catches his jaw on it, causing the table to fall over on top of him.

 

Josh: Lucky break their for Christian if Swagger was just that little bit smaller this match would be over.

 

Striker: It's rare that a big man's size works against him like that, but is this second-chance even usable for Captain Charisma?

 

Swagger pulls the table off his opponent and sets it up in the middle of the ring. Christian gets to his feet, only to find Swagger grabbing him in position for the Gut-Wrench Power Bomb through the table, but Christian gets some pay-back on Swagger for before with a knee to the groin, sending Swagger staggering against the table. Christian runs off the ropes and Drop Kicks Swagger causing him to land sprawled over the Table, Christian climbs onto the table, and looks for an Unprettier through it, but Swagger counters, and Backdrop's Christian from the Table to the floor, Christian twists in pain, but gets to his feet only to have Swagger jump off the table with an Axe-Handle attempt, but Christian moves out of the way and kicks Swagger in the gut, Unprettier! Christian got the Unprettier! But Swagger's now dead weight. Christian starts to pull Swagger onto the Table, but Swagger hits a kick to Christian's face, Christian responds by grabbing the Ring-bell, and blasting Swagger in the face, he then climbs to the top rope looking to send Swagger through the table that way.

 

Josh Captain Charisma might be about to end this match.

 

Striker: If he doesn't win here he might not have another chance.

 

Christian dives, but Swagger raises a foot into the challenger's face causing Christian to fall to the ground below. Captain Charisma begins to stand and Swagger rolls off the table. Swagger hooks Christian into position, and lifts him up Gut-wrench Powerbomb!

 

Striker: The champion with a huge Powerbomb but now he's faced with the same problem as Christian before him!

 

Todd: Can Swagger lift Christian to end this match?

 

Swagger adjusted turning around so he was now facing the table, and pulled Christian to his feet by the stomach, looking to end it with yet-another gut-wrench Powebomb but Christian counters with a match-ending backdrop through the table. And celebrates in the ring collecting the ECW title from the referee he taunts, Swagger gets up in disbelief at what just transpired. Christian turns to and to his surprise he finds Swagger, extending a hand to him, he stands in the ring momentarily before taking Swagger's hand and shaking it, the crowd cheer like crazy for Captain Charisma and The all American American.

 

Josh: I'm pleasantly surprised this is completely unlike Jack Swagger, shaking hands with Christian just now might have been the most sportsmanlike act of this man's life.

 

Striker: I love to see this type of ending to a match, and so do these great fans, now though it's time for Last Man Standing, so lets hand over to Todd Grisham and Good ol' JR!

 

JR: Thanks guys! The Smackdown Main-Event, a Last Man Standing Match between the Rated-R Superstar Edge, and the WWE Champion John Cena.

 

[A video on the highlights of all of the matches Cena and Edge fought over the years plays]

 

 

The Rated-R Superstar makes his way down the ramp with a huge amount of boos in the Background, and finally the fans fall silent as he enters the ring.

 

 

John Cena gets an absolutely mammoth ovation from his fans, and an equal amount of booing from his critics.

 

The match begins, Last Man Standing, Edge and Cena lock up, and Cena overpowers Edge, throwing him to mat, Edge, rolls out of the ring, Cena follows him, and Irish Whips him into the Steps, sending Edge over them, Cena steps around the steps into an early Spear from Edge!

 

JR: Spear, Spear, Spear! Edge might have done it right their!

 

Todd: The Referee's counting!

 

1...2...3...4... Cena Gets up.

 

Edge starts Pounding away at Cena on the outside, taking the champ down, before grabbing a chair from under the ring, Edge walks back towards Cena, only to have a running shoulder-block hit the chair, and send it crashing into Edge's face.

 

1...2...3...4 Edge gets to his feet, Cena throws him into the security barrier then comes running himself, but Edge moves out of the way, causing Cena to crash into the Barrier, the Ultimate Opportunist Edge waits, measuring Cena, Spear!! Edge hits a devastating Spear to the Champion, shaking the Barrier, and possibly breaking Cena in half!

 

JR: My God! Another Spear from Edge, and this one damn near broke both Cena and that security wall in two!

 

1...2...3...4...5...6...7..Cena makes it to his feet, and delivers a huge right hand to Edge, and another, and another, Edge staggers back to side of the ring, Cena slams his head against the ring post and rolls him into the ring, then Cena -holding his ribs in pain- grabs the chair he knocked back into Edge's face, and another one, and throws them both into the ring, Edge gets back into the ring to be met with an attempted F-U, but counters with an Edgeacution driving Cena onto the back of the champion's head into the ground hard!

 

1...2...3...4... 5.. Edge places a chair under Cena's head, causing the count to break. The Rated-R Superstar grabs his other chair and delivers a Conchairto, and and another, and yet another!.

 

JR: My god Edge is trying to obliterate Cena, and after taking 4 Conchairtos in one week, Cena may well have had his career ended here tonight!

 

Before the referee can actually begin his count, Edge takes Cena pulls him to his feet and pulls him into the corner, using the top rope to hold him, delivering Spear after Spear, after Spear to the fallen champion, and yelling about how Cena “stole” his title, finally Edge drags Cena back into the ring, and leaves him their to be counted out after another Conchairto.

 

Edge collects his new title and leaves the ring.

The Game's Team enters the ring looking confident, Triple H leading them down to the ring, the three men taunt in the ring, and await Legacy.

 

 

Legacy make their way down to the ring – with one important detail missing, Randy Orton himself, Hunter's team rush out of the ring, trying to catch Legacy off guard, leaving the game in the ring, looking into the crowd for Orton, however the Viper wasn't in the crowd, he emerged from the under the ring, behind the King of Kings, and delivered a vicious RKO!

 

King: What a set-up by Randy Orton, this could be it right here and now!

Cole: Not like this, NOT LIKE THIS!

 

1...2..The Cerebral Assassin kicks out.

 

Legacy and Triple H's team both took their places on the apron, Orton tagging Ted Dibiase in straight away, and Triple H struggling to tag Shane O' Mac who bursts into the ring with a series of right-hands and a dance around the ring, downing Ted, Shane Climbs to the top rope in a corner containing neither team, looking for an Elbow Drop, but DiBiase gets to his feet and Connects with a Superplex to Shane McMahon.

 

King: What a Superplex, and now both men need to make a tag!

 

Cole: A tag to Rhodes from DiBiase, and Here..comes.. The Animal!

 

Batista comes in with a Clothesline and Cody gets to his feet, only to be powered back into Batista's corner, The Animal tags in Triple H, Hunter begins to pound away on Cody only to be Irish Whipped by the second generation star, but Triple H comes back with a Harley Race-like High Knee, The game taunts to the Crowd, Looking for a Pedigree but the ref is in the corner trying to prevent Orton from getting into the Ring, allowing Cody to hit a Low-Blow on The Game, and legally tag the Viper.

 

Cole: What a blatant low blow by Cody Rhodes and now Orton comes into to pick up the pieces!

King: what's Randy Orton thinking here?

 

King's question was in response to Orton setting up in the corner measuring a fallen Triple H for a Punt to the head, he runs, but the Game dodges and gets to his feet, Irish Whipping Orton into the corner, where the ref signals that a tag was made, unknown to Triple H's team The Game Nails a hard Double A Spinebuster, and tags in Shane McMahon, who drags Orton into a neutral corner, before he himself hits Coast-to-Coast, then in turn he tags Batista, who pulls Orton to his feet and nails Orton with a Batista Bomb, and tags back to Triple H, who looks to Pedigree Orton, But Rhodes, who is apparently the legal man hits Hunter with Crossroads!

 

1...2...3!

 

Cole: What just happened?! Did Cody Rhodes just win the WWE title for Orton?

 

King: Well I think so, but after that Orton doesn't feel like a Winner, that's for damn sure!

 

[A Replay of the closing minutes of the match plays, with a pause and a highlight on the hand to shoulder contact between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.]

 

King: Wow, all that time Orton wasn't even legal, all that punishment did absolutely nothing besides allow young Cody Rhodes to catch everyone off-guard and pick up the win for Randy Orton and Legacy!
