Kira Magister Magi
I have a friend who is the Sonic equivelent to an Otaku. She loves Silver and collects the games. And my other friend draws anime. Not full on Otaku, but it's all he draws.
Shadow Zero
Nor do I, and yet I watch anime that are (apparently) outside of my gender range, or at least on the fringes of it.Ranma 1/2 and Maison Ikkoku anybody? xD
DL
Ranma 1/2 was hilarious, and genious. Mason Ikkoku was incredible. I laughed so hard at times,a dn at others I felt really sorry for the guy. Misunderstandings are a powerful weapon... None of my friends are otaku. In fact, one is the biggest naruto nazi you'll likely ever meet... One is mostly interested in mainstream manga/anime, but does know some obscure anime (such as Skullman) One hardloy reads any manga/anime except for mainstream. Marisa Kirisame-ze
I have many "Otaku" friends~ :3 And true fact, I'm the one who got them all into it. You just gotta give them an anime to suit their taste, and eventually, they get addicted~ And about yaoi, I can't stand it for some reason =\ ...But I don't mind yuri. One of my buddies and I watched Strawberry Panic together, it was a hawt anime >____<
DL
I like funny yaoi. I love yuri. As for anime that suits their tastes... wheneevr I try to get the narutard to read another manga, even bleach, he simply reads the word "Bleach" On the first page and says "I read it." >.> As for the mainstream-lover, he won't read anything until he catches up to one piece... and fairy tail... then soul eater... then finally reborn... .. Marisa Kirisame-ze
Don't give them a mainstream first D: It'll corrupt their taste T~T I usually give them Kure-nai or one of Kugimiya-san's Tsundere Four anime as a start. Though, my first anime was Sailor Moon when I was really young and my first manga was Naruto. All mainstream =\ And I really like yuri ;____;Strawberry Panic got me into that cause of Shizuma's smexy-ness. ...It was an awkward time watching that with a guy friend. Otaku-sama
If you are trying to convert your mainstream friends, Death Note is a good choice. It is somewhat of a bridge between the mainstream and the otaku. Unfortunately, Narutards and Bleach sniffers are nigh-impossible convert and you mind as well save your breath. Alzeid
Hmm, a image for you all. -_- Anyways, I know a few Otaku's of sorts. -_- Real life Otaku's drive me crazy though, so I don't know them know them. xD
Marisa Kirisame-ze
So you're a girl wo likes yuri... interesting... As for the mainstream... they're the only ones with a chance at being read XD I'm a straight girl who likes yuri~ xD What anime have you watched that's yuri anyway? I'd love to know. As far as mainstream goes, I think the real passion in anime is not dividing the two apart. I really enjoy underrated and rarely known anime along with mainstream. Keeping it balanced works best for me.

Marisa Kirisame-ze
Dissaprove of yuri? I just find girl x girl love pretty cute for those like that. But what do I know, I've only seen it in anime. And it went like this for me:Sailor Moon at the age of three ---> Spirited Away at the age of 4 ---> Naruto at the age of 7. And then it spread out to less mainstream anime/manga.
Shadow Zero
Actually, what I disapproved of was you showing an interest in yuri, although I am glad that you are showing a decided lack of interest in the sausage fest that is yaoi. And I would ask you to get on aol im so that we can talk there, but you already left. T_T
DL
I don't mind mainstream, it's okay. But what I don't like is when people find it the best above all else. BTW, my narutard friend would NEVER read death note. He'd say naruto pwn's the crap out of it. Also, Marisa-san, I never said you weren't straight ;) As for yuri anime I've watched... none T_T care to reccomend some, anyone?

I'd just call them idiots for being so hooked to what they can get simply. Death Note is way beyond Naruto (though I'm a fan of both), yet he won't try it out? Wow, people truly are stubborn when it comes to anime. Go watch Strawberry Panic~ That's my favorite yuri as of right now cause Shizuma is badass. And it's a pretty emotional anime; not all light and fluffy. But careful, it's been titled as a "yuri rape fest" because of the characters that force their love upon other characters. But it's not hentai, so don't worry about it. The worse it gets to is kissing and whatever. But still, watch it. Otaku-sama
Narutards are the plague of all anime and manga. Naruto maybe a decent manga/anime, but for some strange reason, it has an unusually high population of hyper-fanatical, close minded fans, more than any other anime. They are the worst kind of fan and they are the ones the West believes represents anime as a whole. These Narutards are the reason why I started this club. I hoped that I would find like-minded individuals who didn't obsess over Naruto and its attached themes of generic action and generic life situations and generic romantic situations. Here's my question to you all: How do you think Naruto became such a powerhouse in the anime world?
Great Unclean One: VK
Young lil kids lieks teh orange jumpsuits and thinks that all you need to be a ninja. Also my friend is a Narutard. And everyone at my lunch table kinda hates them. Ironic.
Marisa Kirisame-ze
It attracts people into it. Naruto has been around for so long, and I guess when it played on Cartoon Network, people just got addicted. During the episodes that played, I guess Naruto fans wouldn't pull themselves away to view other anime like those that show on Adult Swim. Who knows. Though, easily as I said, I don't count fans who ONLY like Naruto as anime fans at all. So it really doesn't matter to me. Though, next year in high school, I'll be starting an Anime and Manga Club there. I already have a total of 15 members and hope to acheive the same goal as you, Otaku-sama. Otaku-sama
Actually, I never managed to get the Anime Club off the ground at my school due to lack of any staff advisors available and lack of support from my so-called 'vice-president', who did absolutely nothing. The only club I have is the one on YCM. T_T
