Struggle Of Powers

"Hey, old man!" Destined snapped his fingers impatiently, trying to grab the general's attention. "If we're done talking about your little beauty secrets, maybe we can press on to more important matters... Like ending the war!"

Lucifer grinned and bared his teeth.

 

1,000 years old... He's not even decaying... He borders on immortality... Destined thought.

Heh... l'll extract all the information from his feeble mind... And then i'll destroy him...!

Once again, l will have full power...

[Jake the Sage]

The General looked at Destined as if he hadn't spoken rudelt and gave a laugh, "So you want to end the war so badly Destined? I don't think a task like that could be accomplished so easily . . . how the young think everything is easy never stops amazing me . . ."

[-Genesis-]

Aya sat next to Lora, she was surprised that the news that the General and Mitch were over a thousand years. Looking over at Mitch she pulled out her notebook and started writing. As a resutl one of the guards along the wall behind Mitch wrote down a simple note on a slip of paper and stepped forward to place it into Mitch's pocket and instead of returning to his place he remained standing at Mitch's shoulder. The note said:

~ Mitch,

I wanted to ask you how you are over a thousand years old without causing a commotion so I made the guard write this and give it to you. To answer all you have to do is write the answer down or say it under my breath and it will appear in my notepad and I'll have the guard write back to you.

Aya ~

 

Todou remained standing calmly at the General's side thinking of whether or not it would be worth it to order Destined to be incarcerated.

 

Cougar scowled as he looked at Destined with Natalie sitting at his side. He was disgusted with Destined, but he would keep his promise to Natalie and leave it alone, unless that is the General requested him to remove Destined.

 

Natalie shook her head thinking of how Destined never seemed to understand and be patient.

 

Akima looked over angrily at Destined, *What the hell is wrong with him! Does he have any respect for anybody?* He was on the verge of standing up and throwing Destined through the back wall when Kallen stood up.

 

Kallen stood up and glared at Destined, "Why don't you shut your trap before I tear it into pieces." To emphasize her point she clenched the claw of her radiant wave surger.

[Jake the Sage]

Slamming his cane on the floor the entire ground gave a small rumble as the General's expression turned from kind to something that even startled Destined, "There will be none of that here. Is that clear?"

 

Everyone nodded their heads in unison as Lora, very childishly, answered, "Yes sir."

 

Hearing someone say yes the General's expression reverted back to normal and he bgan to act normally and gave another loud laugh while Mitch read the note that had been handed to him by the mind controlled guard. Reading it over he gave a sly smile and stepped next to the General, "I believe we have a curious mind in the crowd General."

 

"Really?"

 

"Yes we do," he responded and handed the note over to the General's wrinkled hands, much to Aya's shock, "what do you think we should do?"

 

"Oh ho ho ho! Why not tell them . . . and satisfy their curiosity."

[-Genesis-]

Aya blushed as Mitch's eyes and the General's eyes fell on her. She looked over at them desperately and shook her head no. She started writing in her notepad again and the guard she was controling walkd up the Mitch and whispered in his ear with Aya's voice, "Please don't, I was trying to not cause a commotion and it wouldn't be a good thing if Destined found out."

 

Akima was shaken that this simple weak General had such a fire in him, *I guess it is as the saying goes; Don't judge a book by it's cover.*

 

Todou wasn't affected in the slightest by the General's outburstas he had been there when the General issued orders during the attack on the eastern fortress.

 

Cougar made sure that Natalie wasn't affected by the General's outburst, he'd told her to not underestimate the old man and in fact she'd over estimated him and wasn't surprised, much.

 

Kallen was still angry but decided that she didn't want the old man to have a heart attack from over exerting himself so she sat back down quietly.

Mitch gave another laugh and motioned for the guard to move away, which even under his mind controlled state followed his command. Looking back at Aya he smiled and kneeled in front of her, "There's nothing to be afraid of."

 

Standing up Mitch looked around and then stoped his gaze on Yaming, and kept it there. Glancing around Yaming began to blush as Josh flaoted around in anger, "Don't you dare get any ideas you old pervert!!!"

 

Coughing to break the silence Mitch looked around again and then grined at Destined as he waited for the answer, "Truth be told you are looking at the Legendary of the North!"

 

This came as a shock to even Todou, who had never been told this information.

" Great I'm dead and people are moveing in on my women...If I ever get a body i'm Going to kill him!....wait did he say the Legendary of the North... " Josh said while trying to hit Mitch...well trying to make him feel his fist's that just went through his head.Stopping when he heard the last part.

[-Genesis-]

Aya's face changed to surprise as Mitch announced that he was the Legendary of the North. She stood up, "Wait, what? I heard that the Legendary of the North was a woman who lived alone in the farthest reaches of the Northern Mountains!"

 

Akima was so surprised at Mitch's announcment that he was stunned speechless. (And thoughtless :shock: )

 

Even Todou and Cougar were stunned, they didn't know that Mitch was the Legendary of the North. They'd just assumed that his not aging was something he did. Natalie just sat there looking at the look on Cougar's face, *Did he not know? Wait if he's the Legendary of the North how come he's...*

 

Kallen stared at Mitch amazed, *So he's the one... he's why my scanner was fluctuating.* She stood up and smiled, "Mitch, why is it that when we met you thought that Moka was me? And why were you surprised by my image and my arm?"

 

 

(Deep in the Northern Mountains)

A woman walked through the mountain snow to an unfrozen lake only to keep walking right toward it. As she was about to step into the water it froze and she walked onto the ice. She kept walking right over the now frozen lake seeming to talk to herself, "I wonder when the spring will come and bring the valley back?"

[Jake the Sage]

Mitch started to chuckle and then let out a full blown laugh as everyone stared at him in stunned unison. Finally getting himself under control he wiped a tear away and addressed Kallen, who had pressed him for a few details, "Well you see my dear . . ."

 

As Mitch spoke a small pocketwatch dangled lightly from his hand and moved on its own accord, almost like it had been possessed by a spirit of some short, "I am a master of time, which is why I have yet to age a second, and as an added bonus I can percieve the future in any outcome."

 

"That is why . . . our Northern Base has never been captured," one of the guards mentioned under his breath as the General began laughing once more. Mitch smiled and nodded his head at the guard, who he addressed as Corey.

 

"However. I am unable to completely see in detail, only shades of figures and voices. So, though I knew you were coming, I did not know what you looked or sounded like."

 

"So thats why you confused me and her," Moka said as Sky nodded, taking this all in.

 

"But wait . . . why tell us this?" Koya said placing his hand on Lora's shoulder.

[-Genesis-]

Aya just listened while everyone discussed this new information about Mitch's ability.

 

Akima smiled, "So that's why the Northern Fortresses are so difficult to take."

 

Cougar shook his head, "So that's why every black ops mission you ordered me on succeeded?"

 

Natalie looked at Cougar disapproving, "His ability itself couldn't make those missions succeed, his ability would let him see who would be needed for them to succeed, that means that if he hadn't sent you they may not have succeeded."

 

Todou simply stood by the General's shoulder contemplating the idea of Mitch being the Legend of the North. "Mitch I also believed that the Legendary of the North was a woamn who lived deep in our mountains, but if it is you the who is this woman that everyone thinks is the Legendary of the North?"

 

Kallen sat down thinking, *With his power we could freeze the West and then wipe them out, in a single second.*

[Jake the Sage]

Mitch glanced at Todou, but was interrupted by the General who waved his hand as to say let me speak, "Well my dear, that girl who everyone believe's to be the Northern Legendary is in fact my decendant. And one of our bes-"

 

Lora had thought the same thing as Kallen and instead decided to voice her opinion, pressed on by the loss of her father, "If you can control time then why haven't you frozen the West and taken them out!?"

[-Genesis-]

Kallen got up and went over to Lora and grabbed her by the shoulder, Kallen knew what she was thinking, "Calm down, if he'd done that before now he'd be dead too." Kallen made sure to emphasize he so that Lora would know that she was talking about their father.

 

Akima decided to simply sit and listen, he'd gather more information that way. Cougar and Natalie sat together whispering. Todou remained standing at the General's shoulder. Aya looked at the contrast between Kallen and Lora, one a hardened veteran soldier with a weapon of chaotic destruction in place of an arm who was emotional and understanding, another a young girl who lost her family and searched to get back what she could, both confident powerful fighters who fought for themselves and for their friends.

 

(Deep in the Northern Mountains)

The woman finished crossing the frozen lake and as she walked away it defrosted. She walked to a cliffs edge and looked out over the mountains. In the distance she could see the faint outline of the Northern Fortress Fargous, the northernmost fortress. She refused to allow any fortresses to mar the beauty of her mountains. She only allowed the Fargous fortress because her many times great-grandfather wished for at least one near the mountains that she claimed as her home. She was quite content to spend the rest of her life living in the mountains, they were he home, her refuge, and her mother.

[Jake the Sage]

"The truth is my young friend . . . Jessie isn-" Mitch began but was interrupted by the General's loud cough. Looking down at his friend and boss he gave a sigh, knowing what he meant, and spoke again, "My powers are not what they used to be. Your father was outside my ability to help."

 

"Outside your . . . ability?" Lora asked not quite getting the concept. She knew he had said he couldn't help him, but didn't quite understand why. The General gave a smile as the soldier, who Mitch had called Corey, stepped forward to explain.

 

"Master Mitch has a limit on how far his powers may reach, and your father unfortunately was outside that area," he said with a gentle smile, "There was nothing we could have done."

 

Lora held her head down as Koya patted her on the shoulder, wondering if she would be able to hold back her tears. Everyone was silent as Lora took a few deep breaths and then proudly nodded her head, not sheeding a tear.

 

"Oh ho ho ho! What a strong lass. Now how about something to eat before we get down to buisness, hm Mitch?"

 

"I might agree with you, we have all the time in the world," Mitch said as the pocketwatch floated around him, moving the furtinure and tables to make them stand in a row, "Oh! Corey? Would you be so kind to get our 'legendary' please?"

 

With a nod Corey held a hand to his forehead and closed his eyes, travelling in his own special way to the Northern Mountains. "Kyou? Are you there?"

[-Genesis-]

Kallen shook her head, "Don't you mean that your powers are weakening?" From the shocked look on everyone's faces she knew that she had their attention. She looked directly at Mitch, "I scanned your energy levels when we arrived, and I just scanned them now. The difference is infintismal, but over time that will add up until your power is gone. Isn't that right?"

 

 

(Deep in the Northern Mountains)

"Kyou? Are you there?" The woman turned to look around her, *Hmm? Oh Corey... what is it.* Her mood had darkened simply from the contact, Corey never contacted her unless her grandfather or Mitch needed her.

[Jake the Sage]

Lora looked back to Mitch who was brushing his hair away in emberrassment, "God I forget how technology can spoil something. Alright I'll admit it. Even though I look young I am getting older no matter how much I fight it, and because of that my powers are fading."

 

A few maids placed seeds on each plate and with a wave of his hand the seeds bursted into fully grown trees as other foods began to be placed around for the dinner. The General laughed and clapped his hands, "Oh, hohoho! That never fails to amaze me Mitch my friend. Now everyone . . . come come, lets eat."

 

"Your grandfather requires your presense. Do not worry about travel, Mitch will retrieve you in due time." Corey finished up as the group her had lead in looked down at the food.

" Right ...outside of your power's, that's what they all say. Maybe your nto as stonge as other's might think." Josh said as he heard the new's." Dont cry for me, I felt no pain when I died, realy it was the most humaine way to go... wait what am I saying...most humanie way to go ha I must have lost my ...I'm talking to my self again." Josh said as he watched the other's.

[-Genesis-]

Kallen smiled, "Well you can blame Todou for the technology I possess." She sat back down. Todou shook his head, *Of course she'd bring that up.*

 

Akima, Cougar, Natalie, and Aya looked at the plants amazed, *If that's what he can do now, I wonder what he could do years ago.*

 

 

Kyou scowled, *Corey just have him keep everyone away from the fountain and I'll be ther in minutes.* With that she stood up and turned back toward the lake and headed back toward it.

[Jake the Sage]

Very well," Corey finished and then walked behind the Northern General. Whispering in his ears the General gave a smile knowin she would eb coming along soon.

 

Mitch bid them to eat and Lora, never one for showing patience, sat down and began to eat and asked everyone else to join in. Yaming laughed and sat down beside her and took some food of her plate to start off, smiliing as Lora scowled away. Sky and Moka also took their seats and began to feed each other, making this as romantic as it could with Destined and his posse along.

 

Sitting down Mitch looked around and smiled, "At least we can enjoy a meal for now."

" I don't Like the way this is headed" Josh said watching Mitch.

[-Genesis-]

Outside the main hall the fountains water started to stir and suddenly it exploded. The water frozen in the shape of a giant rose with Kyou sitting in the center of it. She slid down and returned the ice to water. Kyou looked around at the city, *How sad they don't bond with natures true beauty.* With that she walked into the main hall and looked over the table where everyone was eating. She glared at her grandfather, "You called me here to join you in a feast!" She was obviously angry and suddenly the glasses of water in front of everyone turned into ice and spiked out in all directions, but not hurting anyone.

 

Kallen leapt back from the spines of ice that appeared from her glass, "What the heck is going on!" She saw the woman who was standing in the doorway and it was obvious that she was responsible for what had happened. "Dammit! What's wrong with you are you trying to kill us?"

[Jake the Sage]

The General motioned to Mitch, who nodded in response. Soon Kallen found herself being forced back into her seat by someone unknown force and the water returned to normal. Mitch put his hand back down and clipped open the pocketwatch, then shut it as the General stood up.

 

"My dear grandchild, this is no mere feast we are having. This is, in fact, a war meeting. Now if you would like to continue to act as a child I will bid your leave and we can get down to buisness. However, if manage to control your temper you just might find yourself a position in our plans. Are we understood?"

 

Lora had stopped in the middle of swallowing her water when the General's kind words became as harsh and cold as his grandchild's power. Realizing she couldn't breath she began to cough until Akima managed to help a bit, which she thanked him for.

[Tempest Dahlia]

"Are we leaving yet?" Destined said impatiently. He was getting restless. Lucifer remained in his dormant position on his master's head.

"Well?"

[-Genesis-]

Kyou scowled at the her grandfather, "I don't care for this war! If you want me to fight you simply have to say so! I don't care otherwise." She pulled out a lolipop and put it into her mouth. "I've already eaten so I'll wait until you all finish." She went to sit down on air when suddenly a chair fromed itself seemingly from nowhere, it was obvious that it was made of ice.

 

Kallen looked to the General, "So I guess her power is manipulating Ice and water, am I right?" She sat down and waited for a response.

 

Akima looked over at the General's grandaughter, "Her power is massive, that she can manipulate water and ice with just her thoughts is amazing. No wonder the stories call her the North's greatest weapon."

"yap and if you need ice cube's...ta-da! she's a walking ice maker!" Josh Said makeing him self laugh.

[Jake the Sage]

The General leaded back in his chair and nodded his head. Mitch looked back at Kyou and then shook his head, "she was always the impatiant and arrogant one."

 

Giving a cough the General spoke up, "Now down to buisness. What do you all know about the Southern Military?"
