[SUG] Ban Reason :::Supportz (24):::

this is probably the best suggestion i have read in a while. it is simple, easy, requires only minimal effort from mods, and it will cut down on some spam. i totally support this. ;)

EDIT: good point, if it is meant to be private, then why the index in the first place?

i say that this is a forum, where there is no privacy if you join it. if you are banned, then it is the right of the remaining people to know why. And this wont take much effort anyway.. just do it as you go. ;)

The idea is cool, but might not be easy to do...

The mod could just put under their user title (This user has been banned by (insert mod) for (insert action here). Ban length (insert start time-end time)

-----------

Or make an automated message that can be put in the person's sig + make their original one in spoiler

Ex:

[spoiler=Original Sig]

This user has been banned by (insert mod here) on (insert date here) for (insert reasons why)

He/she has been banned until (end date of ban)

-As Bloodrun said, bans are between mods/banned people, but some people get banned for things they never do

(I'd know, the trading site, TCO, banned me for something I never do (don't ask what).

But, it would be good to know if a member is banned or not...then if others know, we can petition the mod to un-ban a user if they think the member didn't do anything wrong.

This is so simple and easy to do. It would maker life easier if this was done. Plus' date=' I would never have got my warning from Bloodrun! Support.

You don't know, so don't say it's easy.

Not all bans are "simple". Most bans are a result of 100% warning, which is the accumulation of bad things they are doing. Which would require each Mod to post their reasons. And, a user with 100% warning may be banned for a longer period of time. Which in effect, makes it much longer than just posting a reason. But you'd need to cross-reference a lot of factors before being able to just leave it at whatever the obvious reason may be.

This is why I'm against this. Because it isn't effective, nor is it practical.

A Bans reason is between the Mod who banned, and the user who was banned. Although, if you do PM a Moderator we can often check why. But we cannot discuss it unless we were the ones who banned said user.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again.

This is a very bad idea.

okay' date=' i understand all of the reasons against this, but if its between mods and the person banned then why do we have a banned index?

[/quote']

Because people like you always go "Why was he banned? Why was he banned?".

Literally, you don't need to know why they were banned.

Not supporting this waste of time.

In case you didn't notice, they used to have the Ban Index for this, but it got closed.

The mods don't want ban reasons publicized.
