i keep doing renders but they keep coming out black, save pic to see.

You saved it as JPG....saving as anything other than PNG and GIF flattens the image therefore giving you your black background.

if this is on GIMP:

 

WHen you open the star along the side there is a toolbar with the layers on. Right click the star layer and click 'Add alpha channel'.

Then render it and it should have a grey and white line background. THat means there is no BG which means its rendered.

then copya dn paste it on whatever and viola, rendered.

this is what i did, i selected what i wanted rendered the i added alpha channle then i pressed ctrl+i to select every thing els, then i inverted it and pressed delte and it gave me the transparent background. then i saved it and ta da! black!
