MadWorld

Smash TV meets The Running Man. We open up in a world without Law and Order, and where any attempt to bring such justice is shot down faster than the hope of the people who are isolated there. Little is explained about our protagonist Jack, or the company who have sponsored him in Death Watch, but the game is basically a BRUTAL beat em up.

It's clear Sega had wanted both HOTD: Overkill and Madworld to be released one after the other for a reason. Both games advertise each other, and both have taken adult gaming to an extreme that makes these "hardcore gamers" look on with, if nothing else, intrigue at what the Wii has become. Spearing, clubbing and sawing people in half is the order of the day as Jack makes his way through various challenges to get approval for a match against dangerous foes.

Enemies are generic, but like No More Heroes, the boss makes the smaller fights worthwhile. It's black and white presentation, coupled with the red blood and the yellow warning signs symbolise the bleakness of the world you're thrust into. The setting of the train station and the toilets at the beginning are a clear nod to the cult classic film The Warriors, and such places that have become associated amongst gang violence brings a feeling of familiarity twisted by Platinum Game's own fantasy's.

My verdict - get this game. Platinum Games are masters of the "video games can be art" concept, having already been responsible for Viewtiful Joe and Okami, and they've made another fine hit for you to sit back and bask in the brutality and anarchist world they've created.

Overratted imo.

What makes you say that? It seems like a really good game to me.

An attempt to make money out of parents who bought Wii for their kids.

It's for your kids people' date=' no gory experience can come out of a Wii game unless it's a port.

XD

Lol no.

First, that has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the game is overrated. Second, that second statement is just...UGH. The only people who really say that are parents who are against violent video games. Or people who are quite ignorant.

lol you got it wrong >.>

I just see no hardcore gaming in a console where you have to fling your hand like a retard to kill someone. Sure it's "fun" just not gory.

1) The game isn't necessarily supposed to be hardcore.

2) The only time you "flail" around the Wiimote are for those quick-time eventish things (like when you're being grabbed by a giant and you're struggling to break free). The rest of the Wiimote motion is a swing in a vertical or horizontal direction (depending in which way you want to swing your chainsaw) or in a single other direction for stuff like swinging a bat or throwing someone into a grinder.

3) Um....what? Not gory?
