Death Metal
The reason for this was that parents & teachers had reported that the children had been "speeded" and "totally stoned" during class. Lol. Me thinks they were "Speeded and totally stoned" cause they took those drugs in the men's bathroom. Also...this doesn't apply to the US too does it? Amaterasu
I think this would suck if it spread. I live off of monster and so do most of my friends. I am guaranteed to die without it as I would commit suicide. Isnt it funny that the rule was created to protect lives.Energy drinks make me sick. Same happens to my sister but I love them =/ And Star' date=' I've drank an entire six pack before so ha (it was at a party though so I did have an outlet for my insane amounts of excess hyperness)[/quote'] I love buying the 32 OZ. Monsters in bulk, and just slamming them. Though they do cost a hell of alot -.-" I agree. My friends do that instead of alchohol at times. So Willieh, think before you post next time. There was initially more thought in my post than yours. You immediately jumped to the harm that cigarettes can cause you. When dealing with health effects, does it really matter what you're comparing it to? How about this one; Who cares if the government is spending billions to bail out big business? The NASA program spends millions to billions on sending sheet to space, which inevitably is a pure waste of money. Look, all I'm saying is that using these drinks isn't healthy. They wouldn't recommend that minors don't drink it if it wasn't unhealthy. It can cause all kinds of disgusting sheet to happen to you. Most frequently heart attack. Which, normally, kills you faster and more spontaneously than smoking cigarettes. If you want to make something that gives people an energy rush; just make ecstasy legal. Ecstasy actually has no effect on the person other than the energy rush, if used in moderation. Copious amounts eat holes in your brains, but it's not like they couldn't make a warning label. But of course you would defend energy drinks. You probably aren't 18, and you probably drink them. Just as I would defend cigarettes. Jericho
I'm 15 and I very rarely drink energy drinks. You said it has the same short term effect as tobacco. I proved you wrong. NASA is not a program, but an agency, though I do agree that sending stuff into space is useless. The heart attacks you alluded to are caused when extremely excessive ammounts of energy drinks are consumed. Making E legal makes no sense at all. [spoiler=A short list on the effects of ecstasy]Elevated systolic/diastolic blood pressure Increased energy level Muscle hypertonicity Heightened sensory perception Elevated heart rate Desire to be in constant motion Jaw clenching Appetite suppression Transient nausea High level of stimulation Insomnia Dehydration Hot/Cold flashes Nystagmus Poor concentration Euphoria Anxiety/Restlessness Elevated self-esteem Visual hallucinations Closeness to others/Empathy Fear of loss of control Talkativeness Paranoia Overall sense of well being Accepting Greater self-insight Heightened sensuality When dealing with health effects, does it really matter what you're comparing it to?Yes, very much so when comparing it to E. Ecstasy won't kill you as fast as obesity and heart pressure increase. And it won't kill you period if you do it in moderation. I've actually studied and experienced these things. I've seen entire specials on Ecstasy. Ecstasy isn't dangerous if you have any funking sense. And besides, the list is bullshit. It is. It's bullshit. Truthfully, the evidence that previous scientists have gathered about the drug is actually flawed. Newer scientists are actually finding that it's side affects are not lethal, unless you take it in copious amounts. Of course government funded programs are going to tell you that it's dangerous no matter what. It's scare-tactics. They figure that as long as you think it's dangerous you won't do it. And I'd like to point out a few of these "horrible" side effects you listed: "Elevated self-esteem""Empathy""Greater Self-insight" "Accepting""Apetite Suppression" So, you'll be awake, full of your self, understanding of other's emotions, and you won't be hungry. Where is god? :? Oh yeah: And, regardless of how dangerous ecstasy is, the energy drinks are still not good for you. Sadly, I must say, health affects due to illegal drugs and tobacco products are irrelevant. If energy drinks are honestly dangerous, then they should require a certain age to consume. If you are an advocate of the non-smoking progression, then surely you would agree that giving minors things that are harmful to their health isn't good. Right? Stroke, heart failure, diabetes, and obesity (if I may point out) is not a long term effect of ice cream. It would be a long term effect of eating ice cream with no temperance. Amethyst Phoenix
I find it funny that instead of just banning the leading cause of death, they make people wait 18 years before they can proceed to ravage their lungs (mmmm, fiber glass shards are yummy aren't they?) and piss nearby people off with the disgusting smoke. Did you know that taurine is in cat food? Cat's need lots of taurine or their eyes will start to deteriorate. Maybe that explains why they're so damn hyper... (stupid joke, I know the taurine isn't entirely what gives you the huge boost). And we can debate how things compare, and try to say one thing is on the same level as something else because of some little similarities. We can use this course of action to attack things or defend things. Or we could skip all that, because no matter how similar drugs are to energy drinks, the bottomline is they f***ing kill you (or just mess you up if you quit early enough). For example:Banana's possess surprising amounts of energy that give you a quick, lasting boost. Therefore, we should put an age limit on bananas, because they have the same effect as cigarettes. On the other side of the argument going on here, we should remove the age limit on cigarettes because they give an energy boost thats similar to bananas but not as long. Therefore, bananas are more potent than cigarettes and, because bananas are eaten by small children with no negative effects, smoking should have no age limit. ^ This topic's reasoning is f***ing rocket science huh? Also: Prohibition says hi.\ However, you and Willieh are still win. OP: Energy drinks? That's going a bit far. Caffeine is the only drug I can think of they'd install. Lord Smeagle
Too much of anything can kill you. It's perfectly possible to overdose on caffeine. I recall a friend of mine drinking three cans of the "Superman" energy drink, and it really messed him up. Fact is, if it's abusable, idiots will abuse it. You might as well ban oxygen, for God's sake.
