Aw, you guys are so unoriginal! I woulda' been fine with ancient Bulgaria... :(

Well, not really, Artemis is too epic.

We were talking about Endymion, and WTF he did to piss Zeus off enough that the big man put him to sleep... forever. In one version of the myth, he literally asked for it, but in the other, Zeus kinda forced it on him. I'm curious about your hypotheses.

err. From What I know of Endymion He was the king of a Peloponese city-state and the lover of Selene the moon goddess, who bore him fifty daughters.( who is identified with Diana of Romans. Artemis is also identified with her). She could not stand to see him die of old age so she put him in an everlasting deep slumber. in another myth Zeus granted him the wish to be able to sleep forever in a cave.

I was under the impression that the King and the astronomer were different people entirely, as the King is associated with some other sin (I forget what).

It is possible that for our purposes, the King bore Selene fifty daughters without going to sleep forever, and the sleeping Endymion was loved forlornly by Artemis.

'Cuz Artemis sure as hell didn't have any children, which is why I figure Artemis's reign was upset by YHVH... immediately after it started. Hence, Constantine.

Diana and Artemis are the same Godess. -_-

not quite. Diana may have been influenced by Artemis, and even based on her, but they are not the same. though the Romans may have based their gods and goddesses on the Greeks, their culture was different and thus gave the Divine beings a different aspect to their Greek counterparts.

Exactly.

Artemis is antisocial, completely chaste, generally unhappy, forceful, and very, very short-tempered.

Diana is pleasant, carefree, generally happy, gentler, and less short-tempered.
