Don't just assume Favre will come back:

"The Brett Favre Retirement Watch has generated a collective yawn this offseason. It's not that people don't care, but maybe Packers fans have endured the 'will he?' or 'won't he?' scenario so often they figure it's not worth the energy. "

Panthers show interest in TE Crumpler

"The Carolina Panthers plan to explore the possibility of signing former Pro Bowl tight end Alge Crumpler once he officially appears on the NFL waiver list, according to sources. Though the Falcons announced the release of Crumpler and other players on Friday, their names did not appear on the league's waiver list late in the afternoon."

McNair rehabs injuries, plans to be Ravens' 2008 starter

"Quarterback Steve McNair is rehabilitating his shoulder every day, either at the Ravens training facility in Owings Mills or in his home state of Tennessee. He has heard talk about his possible retirement and speculation that the Ravens might trade for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb."

My Response:

Why would they send a franchise QB (even if they no longer believe he's THEIR long-term answer at QB) to the defending NFC Champion, which just happens to be a good QB away from addressing their most obvious weakness?

They can't afford to throw this year away as a rebuilding year, because they're so close to being in the hunt right now. They take a step backwards this season with either Feeley or Kolb as the starter. Getting Lance Briggs doesn't help the team as much as losing Donovan McNabb (and sending him to what may be one of their biggest rivals for NFC Supremacy) hurts them.

Unless there's just something they're not telling us about McNabb's rehab, trading him now would be idiotic.[/align]
