Last game I ever heard that you can enter cheats in was GTA4 Have cheat codes officially been deleted? Discuss why would you use cheats in games anyway? You're supposed to beat them without it (at least at first) It's not like the old days. People don't wanna work for all the goodies; they want them right then and there. Due to the Action Replay and such, I'm guessing that game companies no longer feel the need for cheat codes in their games - although there are some that still do. Personally, I prefer games that give you the goodies when you beat the game. Cheats are fun, but they do kinda take the fun out of the game. ragnarok1945
yeah I know people just want it done the fast way (and of course for some games it just feels like it's impossible to beat unless you put cheats in, some people feel even the game designers couldn't do it without cheats)
Azuh
Usually, i don't like to use cheats. But if something pisses me off pretty bad or I'm in some sort of tight situation and couldn't save, and i can't get past the current level for a stupid reason. I search for cheats, but I take them off straight after the level
Saturn of Elemia
I remember one time: I had rented 'The Tick' for the Super Nintendo (it was a Final Fight-ish game). I played the game for 10 hours straight and STILL did not beat it - and there was no save. I had to use a Stage Select cheat to pick up my progress where I left off - and it took 3 hours after that to beat the game. Yeah, the game was THAT long!!! The only time I've ever had to use an Action Replay was on Armored Core 2: Another Age for the PS2. I had to use it to get Infinite AP in order to defeat Ultimate 9 Ball in the final secret area. That thing is INSANELY difficult to beat!!!

Jacoby746
Those Action Replays can really screw uo you games to.My friend used if for his Diamond game and it froze up and he had to restart. I laght at him for 10 minutes.

Saturn of Elemia
I only used AR one time and that was it. I've known since the NES that cheat devices can ruin games and systems. (A friend had an NES that absolutely WOULD NOT WORK unless the Game Genie was in the system - and it only allowed certain games to work).
ragnarok1945
I never even tried cheat codes on the NES at all, I didn't begin to even consider it until I got my N64
Amethyst Phoenix
The popularity of cheat codes (at least on the 360) has severely dwindled. The reason? Achievements. The addictive little icons are unobtainable if cheat codes are used (on most games).
starwebs1
There are cheats on DS games. Namley Phineas and Ferb. No, I do not own the game, I have seen the cheat on a commercial. And, no, the cheat codes have not been deleted.

A lot of my friends were expecting cheats for FEAR 2, and there were none (not that it mattered to me since I could beat it just fine without them anyway)
Flame Dragon
I don't think cheat code were ever that big. I mean most of the games I own don't even have them. Still, I do know that cheats aren't totally dead. Both Guitar Hero and Rock Band have them.
Holy Babylon
I absolutely hate cheat codes. The only game I really used them on was Pokemon: Diamond with the Action Replay, that was before I bought a PSP. I prefer to play games with challenge instead of running through them with a rediculous amount of ammo and such.

Yet more than half the time even after I beat the game without the codes, and then put them in just to see what difference it would make, I find I never got the benefit from them
