Better Card Organization

Recommended Posts

In sets, the cards are listed alphabetically, but if you are talking about the sets themselves, then its a possibility, although not very nessecarily. If to the extent of your cards reach a high enough number in a set that you need to re-arrange them differently, then i can see that, I myself have a high amount of cards in sets as well :P. Try suggesting something more solid, but still on this topic.

Since I seem to be the only person here who is capable of actually reading, I suppose I'll take it upon myself to explain to you rooks what Corporal Atlas is saying. I'll try to type slowly so you lot can understand me better.

Here, I will be using real cards from Crossroads of Chaos as my example.

Consider the card known as Black Rose Dragon:

BlackRoseDragonCSOC-EN-UR-1E.png

The Set ID of this card is CSOC-EN039. This tells us three things:

1) The part before the hyphen tells us that the card comes from the set designated by CSOC, id est Crossroads of Chaos.

2) The first two letters following the hyphen tell us language of the card. It's English, by the way.

3) The three-digit number at the end tells us the number of the card within the set. For example, Black Rose Dragon is the thirty-ninth card in Crossroads of Chaos.

Now, consider these five cards from Crimson Crisis:

Mark of the Rose: CSOC-EN047

Botanical Lion: CSOC-EN099

Healing Wave Generator: CSOC-EN001

Black Rose Dragon: CSOC-EN039

DNA Checkup: CSOC-EN078

The official ordering of these cards within the set - which is by necessity the one deemed most logical by the creators - is this:

Healing Wave Generator: CSOC-EN001

Black Rose Dragon: CSOC-EN039

Mark of the Rose: CSOC-EN047

DNA Checkup: CSOC-EN078

Botanical Lion: CSOC-EN099

However, the card maker does not organize cards within sets by Set ID number; instead, it organizes alphabetically by name. The result is that these five cards would be jumbled out of order:

Black Rose Dragon: CSOC-EN039

Botanical Lion: CSOC-EN099

DNA Checkup: CSOC-EN078

Healing Wave Generator: CSOC-EN001

Mark of the Rose: CSOC-EN047

Because the card maker jumbles cards around in this manner, making realistic sets of cards with sensible Set ID's is discouraged, as it does not provide any advantage to indexing. If the card creators give cards certain Set ID numbers, it's because they want them to be in the order they decided, not in some arbitrary order decided by card name.

Before anyone raises the issue of this being hard to program due to the location of the numbers, let me remind you all of something: TrueBASIC has a function designed to extract subsections of a string variable (such as, say, characters three to five), and another function designed to convert a string variable composed entirely of digits into a quantitative variable. That's right: this change can be made in a single line of code in TrueBASIC - a language that, as the name implies, is one of the least advanced. The programming used by YCMaker can certainly do anything TrueBASIC can do, and much more.

tl;dr : Learn to read, dummies.

Lol, yet again, Crab answer's in the position of God.

I actually didn't know they ordered it alphabetically o.0

Bloodrun' date=' how did you not know they were ordered alphabetically?

Organizining cards alphabetically makes it more easier to find cards. This is a pointless suggestion.

Um, organizing in the order that the creator wants them to be organized makes it more-er easier to find cards. Take a look at the Lightsworns for an excellent example: I want to have my cards from one archetype in a set grouped together, not splattered all over the set randomly with Aurkus and Wulf several figurative miles apart.

This isn't really a huge suggestion' date=' just that cards should be organized numerically rather than alphabetically, [b']or an option should be given to organize alphabetically or numerically.[/b] It would help a lot in finding cards in the proper order needed when posting Sets.

I'll go with the bolded.

Besides, you know where Aurkus and Wulf are since they're alphabetical, just live with it. So you have to scroll down a bit.

Guest Fake Apology

Actually, i don't see the point in this. We do have the ability to organise our cards alphabetically, that's how they are organised by themselves anyways, but why organise them numerically? ...I really don't get this. I don't support. Sorry.

Just save cards in sets now. Now that YCMaker has added that to the card maker it should be easier to organize cards.

Why do I bother spelling it out when YCM is filled with people who still don't bother to read?

Why do I even bother?

Because you don't post and leave it alone?

Brilliant solution! LOL DUNT EVAR POST EVAR!

Post and move' date=' as in post, then shut up.

Clearly' date=' this is the best salutation ever.

Who would've thought that Bloodrun would be such a damn genius?

Right, you complain to me about being idiotic, yet you enter a thread, just to say that?

lrn2time.

I said this before I mentioned that to you.

Besides, Crab is right. I'm still lol'ing that it's my comment that you lashed out at, and not Crab's.

?

Quit reverting to /b/ euphemisms.

I didn't publicly comment about his post, because he already has his issues in the mod forum.

Anyway, like I said, issues involving ME, go to PM, or stay off the board.

I do not support, as if it's by number, you may forget the assigned number, and take forever finding it. If you had is alphabetically, you can EASILY (unless you dumb) the name, and find it easier.

Final Vote: No Support. Please take my reasoning into thought.

You didn't say you. Your grammar has just failed you once again; you said "issues involving' date=' either go to PM, or stay off the board."

Lol Crab has issues, is it his time of the month? =D

Also, "lrn2time" isn't even originated from /b/.

[/quote']

Re-read that post, I said, issues involving ME. I didn't say you, because I wasn't talking about you.

Your approaching your time on the month, I suspect, since you act like this at least once a month. Your reverting to the "I-don't-give-a -crap-I-can-do-anything-I-want" phase.

Anyway I'm done posting here. Since It's already hard enough to talk to a woman with PMS. Let alone a man.
