No one ever reads the suggestion box, so I'll pose my notion here.

It has only recently occurred to me that members are only allotted three images in their signatures. While normally I would concur, today I'm finding this limitation quite absurd. I spent a good amount of time designing the following signature today, only to discover that I can't use it here:

j9nyxbx6fhsguq

j9nyxbx6fhsguq

This is rather irritating because the combined resolution of the four images is 400 x 120, which is well within reasonable bounds. What I propose is a restriction upon total resolution size, rather than the image count; 500 x 200 seems relatively appropriate. This amendment would allow members greater freedom in structuring their signatures and would also prevent over-sized single-image signatures, such as the rather large one that Twisted had used at one point.

I do realize that this rule would be rather difficult to reinforce, since, as far as I know, there is no way to have some sort of script that'd calculate total resolution, meaning that staff members would have to visually inspect signatures. However, there are many other forums, just as large as YCM, if not larger, that enforce signature restrictions through this manner, so it's no question of whether or not YCM is capable, especially given all moderators have editing privileges to members' profiles. Moreover, there exists the Viral Messages rule, which must also visually inspected and reinforced in a similar manner. If YCM is indeed capable of enforcing this rule, it no doubt possesses the same capacity to enforce the signature resolution restrictions.

Thank you for hearing my propositions.

tl;dr: Replace three-image restriction with total resolution restriction for signatures.

you know, its kinda funny you have this here talking about size limits when you have such a huge page stretch

I proposed this a while ago in D-striker's thread

yeah, this goes in suggestions. idc how important you think this is

and you have only one image in your sig

You didn't read the opening post at all, did you?

Okay, I'm not very familiar with this, but what I think you need is something called an Image Map.

Basically when your mouse goes over certain coordinates on the image, it will be like a link.

So, this allows you to have multiple links on a single image.

Heard of it, but that requires HTML, and, frankly, I just don't know how to make one.

By the sound of it, crafting an image map is horrifically tedious; changing the restrictions would be much easier.

Well, if they don't change the maximum number of images allowed in a Signature. Then I think your only real choices are to either seperate the links from the image then make the image one(put the links bottom, top, side etc... of the image) or make the Image Map.

Here is a somewhat comprehendable tutorial for Image Mapping:

You could also easily find a different tutorial online.

Guest JoshIcy

First off, I love what you did for the sig Tea. Really great XD.

Secondly, I'd support this. But maybe a 400x400 px, w/ spoilers allowed.

That I would like, because some members have some "trophies" they like to show, (albeit mine is simply because I haven't made a recent sig to suffice). As well as extra details they'd like to be seen directly.

Lol, I suggested this before. And, YCMaker does check Suggestions; just check the recent updates for proof.

So, obviously, I support it. I think that YCMaker will be able to program a Plugin that does this if he has time, and if not, and I always ask labrocca to make it.
