Akira
I'm talking about cards such as Monster Reborn, Brain Control and Heavy Storm. Argument that they add skill to the game: Their presence in the TCG forces duelists to play conservatively, for example, not setting 4 cards on the back row due to the threat of Heavy Storm. Also, playing these cards is easy, but saving them for just the right moment takes skill. Argument that they take away skill from the game: Players winning rounds simply by topping into a lucky Brain Control or Monster Reborn, even though the opponent had a dominating/game winning field at the time. The game would involve less luck-sack if all such cards were banned. Your opinions?
OmegaWave
I think they make the game better. It add strategy and suspence to the duel when you pull out Reborn just after they thought they destroyed your strongest monster.
Thomas★Zero
I would agree with Obsidian as cards like Monster reborn do add a bit of support as it wouldn't be fair not to have any monster revial since Call of huntedm and prematur were banned and birth right only works on normal monsters. CrabHelmet
Argument that they add skill to the game: Their presence in the TCG forces duelists to play conservatively' date=' for example, not setting 4 cards on the back row due to the threat of Heavy Storm.[/quote'] Heavy Storm is really the only case where this argument applies - and even then, it can easily be argued that this is not enough to make it worth keeping, in view of the lucksack factor it adds to the game. Also' date=' playing these cards is easy, but saving them for just the right moment takes skill.[/quote'] A broken splashable not saved for the best moment will still give the user a huge advantage over an opponent who never draws into said broken splashable. Because of this, they reduce the level of skill in the game; what matters is drawing the, not using them properly. I think they make the game better. It add strategy and suspence to the duel when you pull out Reborn just after they thought they destroyed your strongest monster. That sounds awesome until you realize that the "strategy and suspence (sic)" consists purely of games being reversed due to an unskilled player lucksacking with a topdeck. I would agree with Obsidian as cards like Monster reborn do add a bit of support as it wouldn't be fair not to have any monster revial since Call of huntedm and prematur were banned and birth right only works on normal monsters. The game does not need universally splashable free generic recursion. The game has never needed universally splashable free generic recursion. Felix
I'm pretty sure they take away skill. They're just good cards everyone can use and benefit from. There's no skill in Monster Reborn, Heavy Storm, Brain control or any of the other cards that are automatically thrown into decks, no matter what the theme is. Mysty
Well, if you take away the staples, decks should start to look a bit more different and, theoretically, the game will rely more on skill.
Lazer Yoshi
Splashables are good cards. You know, sometimes, EVERYONE'S gotta have a certain card in a Deck. XD
Bunter Dwayne
They're not really taking away skill, because everybody uses them. Aaaand that's what Lazer Yoshi said.
CrabHelmet
They're not really taking away skill' date=' because everybody uses them.[/quote'] But not everybody draws them. If I draw Monster Reborn and you don't, and I win because of this, then the game was just decided not by skill but by luck. That takes away skill. Tabris
It all depends on the cards in question.
CrabHelmet
It all depends on the cards in question. Assuming that they're actually worthy of being Limited in the first place, however, they're almost certainly worthy of being banned. Obviously, if a splashable card is nevertheless fine at 3... it's fine at 3. I'm a master of the obvious, am I not? Cards that are fine at 3 are fine at 3, and those that aren't aren't.
