How many tribute monsters should you have in a deck?

Read the subject.I always wondered that question.Whats too much?Normally I play a deck with 4 Tribute monsters,but since a couple of them use 3 offerings,I've found that the number of monsters needed to Summon my other monsters is 9.Is this too much?

I do 20/20. so 20 monsters, and 20 spells and traps.

If you have a beat-down deck, have most of your monsters level 4. If you have twenty monsters, I would say 3-5.

18. i only have 4 traps, so i have lots of Monsters.

i don't think that's too much. i used to have 9 and people would always tell me that's too much, so i cut down, but now i can never seem to draw any powerful monsters when i need them. i never had a problem with 9, though, so i'm probably going back up.

I built a scrap monarch deck today

 

Heres the tributes

 

1x raiza (lack of 2 more)

3x thesty

3x cydra

1x Jinzo

 

With all the encorperated cards, it should be about 10-11 Tributes, and with treeborn + apprentice, its doable

in almost every deck but monarchs, i would say stop at 4. 5 is max. Also i dont coundt cyber dragon as a tribute, i almost never see people trib for them.

I would say the best amount for tributes would be 3...Put 1 LV5 and 1 LV6 and put 1 LV8 or higher...but I always used about 4...HA...I guess I can't follow my own advice!! LOL

yeah but thats dark world, you can easily summon them from the graveyard

yeah, i usally ahve around 3-4 tirbute monsters per deck... maybe 5 at max

Let me clear this up, unless you're playing monarch, 3 is really the most, i have 9 in my monarch (including 3 CyDras, which don't really count) and i NEVER play over 6 stars, if you look at any recent tournament, the decks will only, in general play one 8 star, and thats Dark Magician Of Chaos (DMoC), and thats only for people with the right deck.

 

Honestly, this probably all sounds insane, that you shouldn't play level 7 or higher, but the investment you make for them is too high, and they can be Sakuretsu Armored just like anything else. Also, if you think 6 star monsters aren't powerful enough to kill level 7 and above, just try Zaborg, and anyway, they made lightning vortex for a reason.

Haha. I've made a deck with 22 tribute monsters per 45 cards in the deck, then slimmed it to 19 tributes out of 40.

 

And I beat a traditional Monarch deck with it. Yes, I know it wasn't competitive. Yes, I know it probably wasn't a well-build Monarch deck.

 

But that was last format, where such things were possible. Without tribute generation now it's nigh-on impossible to run, say, more than ten maximum (inc. Cyber Dragon) unless you've got a trick (ie. Dark World or Zombies) whereby you don't actually tribute for them; because now you have to generate your own tribute material instead of stealing your opponents'.

I'd say 3-5 Tribute Monsters. The more you have a tribute monster in your Deck, the more chances of you having them in your hand, means you lose.

i'd go with this:

 

7-8 tribute monsters

12-13 4 and lower monsters(if you chose 7 tms, then go with 13 llms, and so on)

10 spells

10 traps

I wouldn't say ten traps, I'd say 3-8 max and 12-18 spells, then flesh it out with monsters. I think the 20-20 ratio isn't really a hard and fast rule, it's a guideline, and I myself have noticed I've been building decks with, say, 21-23 monsters in them.
