2050 CE, Sozora, Japan – Reports of a meteor strike have been heard from the surrounding area of Sasaoka Hill, near the outskirts of Sozora. Although the impact was seen and heard, for the space rock had broken the speed of sound, anyone who has gone to the hill, along with any evidence of the rock, has mysteriously vanished. At the same time, whispers started being heard around town, whispers of black beasts that oozed up from the ground and could suck a person's life from them in an instant. Whatever they are, the population of the town has been rapidly declining, and now news of the beasts has been heard from other nearby towns...

 

All across the world, certain people have been afflicted with bizarre dreams, of a mysterious small rock floating in the sky that seemed to secrete pure darkness. When they wake up, however, they've found themselves changed, getting up from a pile of vegetation that they themselves have created. These people have all been beckoned to the town of Sozora by an organization calling itself EDEN, saying that they are the primary line of defense against an invader of unknown danger. However, can this organization be trusted, or are they using the people for their own ends...

 

You are one of these people, chosen by a strain that not even Darwin could comprehend. Return the favor, and destroy the Decay, who are draining the earth of the thing that means most to it; its nature. You are a Minoru. Can you handle it?

 

[spoiler=Rules] This is a medium-to-high ranked RP, skill-wise. Besides the rules listed here, I expect you to follow the following 2 rules:

 

1) Type at least 4 decent sentences per post with good grammar, spelling, and description. This doesn't apply to OOC posts.

2) This isn't all about fighting, so do some character development as well. Only making fighting posts will get a warning.

 

If you don't follow these rules, I will put you on a 1-week probation period. If you don't shape up after that, you will be asked to leave the RP. (And by asked, I mean you will be kicked out.)

[spoiler=Terms]Minoru – Coming from all over the world, Minoru are humans with an evolutionary adaptation that is merging them with the genetics of plants, giving them the ability to generate plant matter from their body by consciously controlling the mitotic and meiotic divisions of their cells and use it as weaponry. Minoru usually use blood as their conversion matter, but some can use muscle and skin tissue as well. Each one of them has a specific talent that they use, which is called their "Root". Roots are usually given rather bizarre names. Since the Minoru have united, they have taken codenames for use outside of EDEN, based off of trees. The term Minoru comes from the Japanese word for "fruit", which can also be read as "truth". NOTE: The plants are generated from the Minoru's cells. They can't just pop up out of the ground. You have to figure out a way of "injecting" them into there.

 

EDEN: The united front for the Minoru, and where they meet and are given orders. Located in an abandoned TV broadcast center, it's been retrofitted with all sorts of tracking technology and bunkers for anyone that requires medical aid. The logo of the organization is a pair of outstretched wings that seem to be made of leaves and old branches. Leading the organization is a figure known only to the Minoru as Michael, who lays out the plans through hacked television and computer screens.

 

"Decay" – A fearsome mutant of evolution, the Decay is a sentient form of fungal matter that operates with a hive mind. Spontaneously generated, they have a lower form of sentience, but that's not the primary reason why they are dangerous. Decay can absorb the basic form of energy that is stored in an organism's mitochondria, leaving them weakened and unable to do anything as they wither away into dust. The Decay are usually a jet-black color with light-grey scaly plating, and come in various forms and sizes.

 

Hivemind: This entity is what the Minoru are hunting for. Supposedly located underground, the Hivemind is the root of all the Decay, and is responsible for creating and directing them to their nefarious end. Nobody knows what the Hivemind wants with Earth, or even if it wants anything, but the Minoru know that it needs to go, and fast.

 

Sozora - A small inland city in southern Japan, Sozora was the location of the meteor strike that spawned the Decay. Unsurprisingly, it's also the headquarters of EDEN. It's somewhere between urban and rural, being more high-tech near the center. A large park exists near the center, with Sasaoka Hill smack-dab in the middle. The television studio which EDEN bases in is 2 blocks from there.

Personality: He enjoys causing havoc to the Decay and thwarting it whenever and wherever he can. He usually makes sad puns in different situations and mocks even his allies when they mess up. Despite his upbringing, he tries to dispel the idea of 'the stereotypical ozzie', but he can't help but say 'G'day mate' at least once, as a joke. He positively hates anyone who doesn't recognise the fact that his whole name IS Jake. He begins to act arrogant whenever he feels he is winning, which may cause mess ups in controlling his Root.

Root Description: Jake slams his hands stright down into the ground, jettisoning a multitude of seeds into the ground in whatever direction he faces. These seeds grow at an extraordinary rate, sprouting large roots up from the ground, that attempt to impale whatever is in their semi-destructive path. The distance the seeds go do not exceed 5 metres. This can be altered slightly to Jake planting a large seed beneath him and creating a small shell of roots around him. These roots decay after 5 minutes, or they can be cut.

He prefers tan and brown shirts and shorts, and usually wears a pair of thick black sunglasses on his head. Also, he can never seem to get a tan, despite trying hard to.

Personality: Rather intent on his job of hunting the Decay, Gabe therefore can seem asocial to those who don't know him well. Even to those who are his friends, he's still aloof, but is more willing to open up and reveal his emotions in times of stress. He has an uncanny fondness for sour foods, and will sometimes be found carrying around a lemon to satisfy his odd cravings.

Root Name: Canopy Chandelier

Root Description: Can create a spiral of telekinetically controlled razor-sharp leaves, about 2 inches each in length, from his palms. Individually, they aren't very powerful, but can do heavy damage if the assault is prolonged. The leaves create a circular wound on his hand where they rip out after being used. Gabriel converts his plant matter from his blood. Gabe named it this because the leaves fall to the ground in a pattern resembling a broken chandelier after being used.

Personality: He is a cynical and negative person to most people. Stahn is also an analytical thinker that won't do many things without sound reasons and a backup plan. Most of his characteristics deter most from getting close to him, but deep down he is the type of person not to betray his comrades. He is not negative or cynical when it comes to children for one reason or another.

Root Description: Stahn is able to produce 4 inch thorns on his body along his nerves (like thorns on a stem) and uses them to stab and cut his enemies. But there is a limit to his ability to maintain it. (2 minutes right now) Any longer and the thorns infect and damage his nervous system.

1) Bit more original name. I suggest "Viper Whip", but that's just me.

2) Where does he make the snakey vines from?

3) I don't think that the Minoru can make animals, but you can turn them into vines that are like Venus fly traps with really sharp spines.

The moon was high above Sozora City, casting an evil eye down on those who were out late. However, Gabriel DeHart wasn't concerned about the villainous look that the skies were giving him. He was entirely focused on the black lizard-like Decay that was eying his skull as its next meal. Licking its lips, the Decay jumped into the air at the redhead, aiming for his head.

 

"Christ!" Scrambling out of the way, Gabe barely managed to dodge the creature as it fell back down, shattering a portion of the pavement, one piece of which landing solidly on his left arm. Slightly shaken, he quickly gathered his thoughts, and turned his right palm towards the back of the unsuspecting and confused Decay, while slinging his other arm across his chest.

 

"Canopy... Canopy Chandelier." A flurry of blade-like leaves erupted from the teen's hand, engulfing the now-screaming Decay in a hurricane of death. It only lasted a few seconds, and when they drifted to the ground in their trademark chandelier formation, the corpse of the Decay remained, its head having been shredded to bits by the leaves. As Gabriel walked away and stuck his uninjured hand into his pocket for his cell phone, the body of the monster disintegrated into a foul-smelling mold. Flipping the lid open, he pressed the speed-dial, hoping that the local hospital hadn't shut down their basic services. I'm gonna need some medical aid, the Minoru thought as he stumbled suddenly, slipping on a shard of broken pavement.

Root Description: Jake slams his hands stright down into the ground, causing masses of spikes to rise up from the ground in a wave and are sent out in whatever direction he faces. This can also be slightly altered to Jake generating a circle around himself to create a wall of spikes to seperate him and his foes. These spikes usually stick around until they decay about 5 minutes later. They can be easily cut as well for a quick solution.

As his hair was blowing with the wind. Christopher Concerned how he would be able to survive. "Crap!!!!!! I just got fired from my last job." Chris placed both legs on the ground and got up as he clinched his coat with the cold wind blowing. "What would I do now?" Chris walked on the path of the park heading toward the main road. He heard howling that night. "What was that?"
