Brunnhilde Crash Site, Forest Regions, Seneca Nation, Iroquois Six Nations League

Seneca Nation was only one of the Iroquois Six Nations League, or what the Amerindians referred as the League of Peace and Power. Iroquois was reinstated as a semi-sovereign nation after the formation of the Occidental Union as a Native State and given territory of Western New York.

In the wild regions of Western Iroquois forests, the ruins of the Burnnhilde laid over the crash site. The smoke was still rising over its scorching remnants. Over the distance, the sound of engines roared through the serene forests. The bushes rustled as a D-Wheel bursted its way out and stopped by the crash site.

The D-Wheel in question was brown and had antler-like protrusions placed in front of it, being the unique Prongs model, being able to use radar to scan its surroundings. Its rider was an Amerindian in a khaki police uniform. It was followed by a small contingent of the Adams, Jefferson and Hillary model D-Wheels, piloted by a mixed group of Caucasians, Negroes and fellow Amerindians in the same uniform.

While seated to his Prongs, the Amerindian took off his helmet and pressed a button on his Prongs.

“At our nine-o-clock, gentlemen,” he said, “my Prongs is telling us of 2 life forms.”

The constable contingent left their D-Wheels, and discovered the crash site. Over the seats, Elise and Vladimir were there unconscious. A small beacon on the console was beeping to no end. A Caucasian officer approached the two bodies and held their hands for their pulses.

“Inspector José, we have found two peoples and they are still alive,” the officer reported.

“Take them back for custody,” Inspector José said.

And while in the Six Nations, Elise and Vladimir made an unexpected landing there. Fortunately, they were rescued by this unique faction, the Iroquois Rangers. However, they remained to be missing and only one man would get them back to New York…the mysterious Mr. Shikyo. Here, we perhaps could learn of his goals.

Sutherland Corporation HQ, Stockholm, Scandinavia

While Elise and Vladimir were being carried off by those officers, the distress beacon was left to transmit a signal for help. However, the signal was not only directed towards the Revolution, but also to Scandinavia, where Sutherland Corp. is based.

In the COE Office, Joseph Sutherland stood out into the rainy scenery of midnight Stockholm. As a Psychic, his powers were somewhat dependent on his current state of mind. His sadness was so intense that even a seasoned Psychic like him couldn’t control…and thus the rain. On his desk, there was a static holo-screen…where a message he did not favour too much came up…

“Mr. Sutherland, we just received a distress signal from the Brunnhilde,” said Ali, “and Elise and Vladimir should be on board at that time too.”

“What?!” he exclaimed.

“Sorry, their last known location was the western forests of Iroquois League,” Ali said, “shall I go there and locate her?”

“…No need to, I will find a way out,” he said.

Suddenly, the holo-screen broke off its static state. A new face formed up on it; a man in black with a oni mask; Mr. Shikyo. Sutherland took quick notice of this, and turned back.

“My Lordship,” Shikyo said.

“Ah yes, I shall get to the point,” Sutherland spoke, “Elise…she’s missing. Last known location: Seneca Nation of Iroquois.”

With that spoken, a lightning bolt struck from the heavens and all electronic devices were shut down, including the holo-screen. Fortunately, Shikyo got all needed information. His mind now beared a single thought.

“Elizabeth, I will fulfil the duty of a servant…that I swear…” he thought.

Brunnhilde Crash Site, Forest Regions, Seneca Nation, Iroquois Six Nations League

The midnight of the wild Seneca Nation was peaceful and calm in all of nature’s wonders. However, the roaring engines of D-Wheels once again disturbed the serenity of the wilderness. The bushes rustled as another D-Wheel rushed out at high-speed.

It was completely yellow with a black line pattern around it, and it was based on a chopper-type design. Its rider was wearing a crimson oni helmet with horns curved backwards, but the two katana still strapped to his back proved him to be Mr. Shikyo. He stared into the crash site of the Brunnhilde and noticed something – a police line saying ‘Iroquois Rangers’.

“So it seems that someone has beaten me to the punch,” Shikyo said as he pulled out his katana, “guess I will have to pave my way around this neck of the woods. Let’s go, my Aka-Oni!”

His Aka-Oni drove off towards a group of trees and with a slash, those trees fell. Without obstacles in the way, his journey continued uninterrupted.

However, he had been secretly observed by Arep on a rock structure above ground level. Next to him, there was a D-Wheel too. It was black with blue stripes that formed up an ancient pattern, and its design took roots from the famous German VW Panzer-Hummel, which is renowned for great defences.

“Tsk, I still failed to get them, but only stalled for time,” Arep lamented, “but it appears that I may be in for a good show. Let’s ride, my Eros!”

He tore off his cloak and revealed the face of a Dane, putting on a similarly coloured helmet in the design of the Eros. The engines of the custom Panzer-Hummel called Eros roared into life and rode Arep off towards the forest.

Iroquois Rangers HQ, Buffalo, Iroquois Six Nations League

Down at the capital of Iroquois and the governmental district Unity, it is where the Six Nations Council convenes over meetings between the appointed First Minister, Attorney-Consultant with the six traditional Chiefs of the Six Nations. Also located there was the Cattaraugus Palace, the official residence of the Chief of Seneca Nation.

Other than the government buildings there, one of the most prestigious civil defence organisations in the Occidental Union was centred in this region, the Iroquois Rangers. Formed along with Iroquois government itself, it gained strong prestige on the world stage, producing many great officers.

Among them, it would be Sr. Inspector Josehawa or “José” (due to a slight Hispanic heritage) and he was overseeing a holo-screen displaying the natural background of the Seneca forests in a large room occupied by various monitors and cameras of the natural grounds of the Six Nations.

“Wilson, so the destruction in the Outskirts Forest Regions, it has been going for how long again?” the Sr. Inspector asked, turning to a Negro operator seated beside him.

“Inspector, it has been so for five minutes straight,” Wilson replied, “actually six minutes by now. Also, due to the rate of deforestation, I suspect the culprit to be on something like a D-Wheel.”

“This matter is would be of serious concern once the Chieftains hear of this; the Nature is always the highest treasure granted to our peoples,” José proclaimed, “this threat needs to be investigated quickly.”

“I bet it is the Industrial Movement trying to force the Iroquois government to give up its lands,” a Caucasian man opposite of Wilson suggested, “but I must point out that most of our officers are off-duty now.”

“If so, then I shall personally investigate this now,” José said, “I’ll be in my Prongs. And before I go off, I wish to know of our guests’ status.”

“I last checked on them a few minutes ago, and they are quite stable, but they still need rest,” the Caucasian replied.

Hangar Room, Iroquois Rangers HQ, Buffalo, Iroquois Six Nations League

The Hangar Room was quite dark due to the scarcity of people there at midnight, but that didn’t stop Josehawa from going there to get his D-Wheel. He looked around for a certain pad, and saw his Prongs there, quickly settling himself down on it.

“Alright, Senior Inspector Josehawa reporting,” he cried, “Prongs is ready to go!”

Suddenly, the silence of the room was utterly broken with the roaring of engines. The hangar door slid upwards and the Prongs sped its way out into the streets.

Forest Regions, Seneca Nation, Iroquois Six Nations League

With the forests of the Seneca Nation, Shikyo spent the time in Seneca forests finding his way around the unspoiled region by cutting his way around. Unknown to him, Arep had been following him around from above and that the Prongs was hot on their trails.

José pressed a button on his dashboard and it turned on a radar screen. On it, it showed the Prongs itself as a source, along with 2 other unidentified sources.

“Momentum, the power that empowers D-Wheels,” José said, “any appropriate radar system can exploit this to track down any D-Wheel in the area. And I see two of you here…on my left!”

Suddenly, his Prongs turned to the left rather abruptly, but it soon regained its stability.

A few miles away, Shikyo was busy chopping his way through the trees-filled forests. However, the Prongs had finally caught up with his Aka-Oni and went up beside it.

“Who are you?” Shikyo demanded.

“Sr. Inspector Josehawa of the Iroquois Rangers,” he replied, “and I must inform you that you are committing a serious offense of destroying natural area, which is considered as vandalism of state property.”

“Sorry, I need to find somebody and I believe you Josehawa would know,” Shikyo said.

“Now do you suspect me? I am the law in these parts and I ask the questions here,” José said, “and for the record, just call me José. I now activate the Speed World Field Spell Card.”

“Overriding Suspect D-Wheel…”

And then, the whole forest region west of Buffalo was absorbed into Speed World territory. Arep looked over to the upcoming duel with a wicked smile on his face.

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 4000)

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 4000)

“Get ready to duel now,” José said as he drew his full hand of six cards, “and I Set a monster face-down along with a face-down card for my turn alone.”

Suddenly, a horizontal card appeared before it vanished. It was followed by another vertically set face-down card that also vanished along.

“And I draw,” Shikyo declared as he got Speed Spell – Angel Baton, (1-1) “and I Summon the Oxhead Demon, Gozuki in Attack Mode!”

Suddenly, a portal opened up and a monster appeared. True to its name, it did have the head of an ox and a humanoid body shape. The demonic creature was holding onto a wooden hammer. (1700/800)

“Gozuki attacks your face-down monster with Underworld Hammer!” he declared his monster’s attack.

Gozuki roared out loud as it raised its hammer to crush the opposing monster. Suddenly, it opened up to reveal to be a green-skinned giant similar to the Hulk. He wore only a simple loincloth and fur boots with his right side being made out of wood. (1000/2000)

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 3700)

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 3700)

“Looks like my Elemental Hero Woodsman’s hide prove too rough for your demon,” José said.

“An Elemental Hero monster, they don’t really work so well in Turbo Duels,” Shikyo remarked.

“I use Gozuki’s effect now, which allows me to send a Zombie-Type monster from Deck to the Graveyard,” Shikyo said as he slid a card (called the Crow Tengu) in, “and I end my turn.”

“Draw,” José said, (2-2) “I Summon the Elemental Hero Knospe in Attack Mode.” (600/1000)

Suddenly, a tiny shape formed up in the forests. It was vaguely a humanoid bud that had not yet bloomed. However, its face was one of burning determination.

“When alone, Knospe’s pretty much harmless. But with a comrade Elemental Hero, it can attack you directly,” José said, “Take him down with Seed Bud Barrage!”

Knospe leapt up and its two buddy hands opened. They fired off a series of seeds at the Aka-Oni, trailing it off track for a second.

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

“And your point for doing this is?” Shikyo questioned.

“When Knospe inflicts you Battle Damage like just now, it gains 100 Attack Points in exchange for 100 Defence Points,” José said, (700/900) “and I must warn you that with Woodsman around, you can’t even hit my Knospe. I end my turn with 2 more face-downs.”

“Let’s go then,” Shikyo cried as he drew, (3-3) “I activate my Gozuki’s effect again and send another Zombie Monster to the Grave…and in my benevolence, I show it to you.”

A card slid out of his deck and Shikyo showed it out to his opponent. The card was an Effect Monster, that bode the image of a horsehead demon. Shikyo quickly slid it into his Graveyard slot.

“This card is called the Mezuki, and by removing it from the Graveyard like so,” Shikyo said as he took the card out, “I can Special Summon a Zombie Monster in my Graveyard.”

“But I sent no Zombies to your Graveyard!” José exclaimed, “…unless…that card Gozuki sent…”

“Yup, I Special Summon the dreaded Crow Tengu from the Graveyard in Attack Mode!” he cried.

The horsehead demon Mezuki appeared as a spirit form as it glowed brightly. The next thing that appeared was a strange Zombie. It was a large humanoid crow that flew by Shikyo’s side. (1400/1200)

“And when Special Summoned from the Other Side, I can destroy one of your monsters,” Shikyo said, “and I choose your Elemental Hero Woodsman!”

“Before that, I activate Trap Card Elemental Recharge,” José declared, “this card will increase my Life Points, 1000 for every Elemental Hero.”

José was showered with a green glow from his monsters. Crow Tengu flapped its demonic crow wings to conjure up a great wind blast and blew Woodsman away.

José (LP: 6000) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

José (LP: 6000) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

“I’ll just smash my way through you,” Shikyo said, “I play Speed Spell – Angel Baton, so that I can draw 2 and ditch one.”

He then drew 2 cards, and after some choosing, he discarded Skill Successor.

“And I Summon the Wine-Devouring Demon, Shutendoji,” he continued.

And as he placed the card down, another demon appeared. It was a ferocious red oni with a mane of golden hair, wearing a traditional Japanese clothing with knots all over. It was holding on to a large jug of wine. (1500/800)

“Crow Tengu attacks his Knospe now!” Shikyo cried as the crow demon went in for a skydive at it.

“Activate Trap Card, Soul Union!” José said, “Now I choose 2 Elemental Heroes, one on the field and the other in my Grave. Now, my Knospe gains Attack equal to that of Woodsman to defeat your Tengu.”

The shadow of Woodsman appeared behind Knospe as it was absorbed into the tiny bud. (1700/900)

“Then let me play a trick of my own, I remove a card in my Graveyard from play too,” Shikyo said, “it is Skill Successor and now, my Crow Tengu gains 800 Attack Points.” (2200/1200)

With that, Crow Tengu impacted upon Knospe with its skydive attack and it was quickly destroyed easily. (1400/1200)

José (LP: 5500) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

“And I have 2 other monsters waiting for their turns, so go get him too!” Shikyo, “and Shutendoji takes the lead.”

The drunken demon opened up his ancient jug and gulped down the wine. It turned to the Prongs and sprayed a blast of stinging-hot putrid wine at him, scalding him badly.

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

José (LP: 4000) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

“Back at square one now,” Shikyo said, “and since you lost over 1000 Life Points at one go, you lose one Speed Counter.”

“Activate Trap Card, Doom Acceleration,” José cried, “thanks to this card; I not only lose no Speed Counter from this battle, but gain one for every 500 points of Damage received.”

With that, the Prongs’ Speed Counter quickly rose. (6-3)

“Hey now, I still got my final monster here,” said Shikyo, “Attack him directly with Underworld Hammer.”

Gozuki went on and hoisted its mighty hammer down at the ground, causing a minor shockwave that shook the Prongs. (5-3)

José (LP: 2300) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

José (LP: 2300) Shikyo (LP: 3100)

“And I Set 1 face-down card and end my turn,” he said.

José made his next draw and their Speeds increased again. (6-4) He looked at the card he just drew, and then saw his 2 other cards on hand.

“And I Summon the Elemental Hero Ocean in Attack Mode,” José said.

A new hero monster appeared on the field. He was in a tight blue wetsuit with a distinctive shark fin sticking out of his headpiece. His only weapon was apparently a harpoon in his hands. (1500/1200)

“Attack his Crow Tengu now!” he ordered.

Ocean raised his harpoon staff and fired a blue laser beam at the crow-like demon, destroying it within an instance.

José (LP: 2300) Shikyo (LP: 3000)

José (LP: 2300) Shikyo (LP: 3000)

“And I Set just 1 face-down and end my turn,” José said as he Set his card.

Iroquois Rangers HQ, Buffalo, Iroquois Six Nations League

In an emergency guest room of the Iroquois Rangers HQ, it was the place where in Elise and Vladimir rested since their discovery by the Rangers themselves. The Caucasian officer had come inside the room again for his rounds. This time, Elise was recently awakened.

“Oh, where am I?” she asked, “but more importantly, who are you?”

“I am Officer Cal of the Iroquois Rangers and we have found you some hours ago in the forests,” he said, “we found an aircraft in the crash site, so care to explain what happened?”

“All I remembered was that we were flying and…and…” Elsie said, “…we crashed down somehow.”

“When your friends wakes up and both of you gave oyur official statements, we then hopefully close this case here,” Cal said.

“Doubt he’d believe of a monster dragon blasting us out of the sky…” Elise thought.

01:45, 14 May 2092

Forest Regions, Seneca Nation, Iroquois Six Nations League

“I draw,” said Shikyo, (7-5) “Attack Ocean now, my Gozuki!”

“Activate Trap Card, Hero’s Guard,” José declared, “this card will prevent my Hero monsters from getting destroyed for one, and by removing a Hero Monster from play, I can halve Battle Damage and draw a card.”

As Gozuki tried to clobber the aquatic hero, Knospe suddenly appeared and blocked the attack. During all this, José took this chance to draw his card, the Speed Spell – Speed Fusion.

José (LP: 2200) Shikyo (LP: 3000)

José (LP: 2200) Shikyo (LP: 3000)

“Then I activate Fiend Cannon for backup,” Shikyo announced, “since your monster was still attacked by mine and not destroyed by it, you take 500 points worth damage.”

Suddenly, a demonic dragon head appeared from the card and shot out a fireball at José, scorching him.

José (LP: 1700) Shikyo (LP: 3000)

José (LP: 1700) Shikyo (LP: 3000)

“Then, I end my turn,” said Shikyo.

“Draw,” said José, (8-6) “and during my Standby Phase, my Ocean’s effect now activates. I can return a Hero Monster either on the field or in the graveyard back to its owner’s hand.”

“And after removing Knospe from play…” Shikyo said, “It has to be Woodsman!”

True enough, the Elemental Hero Woodsman card did went back to José’s hand.

“And now, I play my own Speed Spell, the deadly Speed Fusion!” he declared, “Since I actually have double the requirement for it, I can use its power to Fusion Summon.”

“The core of any Elemental Hero Deck indeed,” Shikyo said.

“By fusing both Woodsman and Ocean, I Summon the living spirit of the Earth itself!” José said, “Show yourself now!”

Woodsman appeared beside Ocean as both of them were trapped in a swirling vortex. Suddenly, a great light shone out. Another Warrior appeared onto the field; it was almost completely white with blue crystals on his shoulders and head. A single red crystal was affixed on his chest. (2500/2000)

“No…the Legendary Planet Cards!” Shikyo exclaimed.

“Behold, the Elemental Hero Terra Firma,” José said, “I Normal Summon Elemental Hero Flash in Attack Mode.”

Suddenly, a new Warrior appeared. He wore a yellow lightning-themed suit with a cloth tied behind him. (1100/1600)

“I activate my Terra Firma’s effect,” José said, “all I need to do now is to Release an Elemental Hero that I control and Terra Firma gains Attack equal to the Released monster.”

Suddenly, the Flash vanished into light grains and entered into Terra Firma via his crystals. He then glowed with additional power. (3600/2000)

“Also, when Flash is sent to the Graveyard, I can add 1 Spell or Trap card there back to my hand,” José said, getting back Hero’s Guard, “and now, he’ll attack your Gozuki now with Terra Firma Impact!”

Suddenly, Terra Firma flew towards the oxhead demon and with a single punch, destroyed it. The impact was so strong that the ground around there shattered. (8-5)

José (LP: 1700) Shikyo (LP: 1100)

José (LP: 1700) Shikyo (LP: 1100)

“You could’ve attacked my Shutendoji instead, then I’ll lose 2 Speed Counters and more Life Points,” Shikyo said.

“True, but it would seem that your monsters are benefitting from the Graveyard and I can’t allow you to simply overload your Graveyard like that,” José justified his action, “and your Gozuki only contributes to the effort of Deck thinning.”

“Yah, my Youkai Monsters are creatures of Japanese myths of evil spirits and ghosts,” Shikyo explained, “these beings are quite restless, and their real powers work only when brought back from the Other Side. Thus, a duty of certain members of my people sought to resist these Youkai. But what’s with your Elemental Heroes? I’ve never seen anything like them.”

“These guys, not much people have heard of them, most would be obsessed with the Urban Elemental Heroes,” said José, “these guys are the Nature Elemental Heroes, the mentors of the Urban Heroes. It was they who taught the original Elemental Heroes on using their powers and the morals behind it. These unique heroes don’t really appear on the scene that much, mostly by the sidelines and for Nature’s sake.”

“That makes sense,” Shikyo said, “well, got any more moves to spare.”

“Just two face-downs and I’m through,” José said, “and Terra Firma returns to his original Attack.” (2500/2000)

01:48, 14 May 2092

Iroquois Rangers HQ, Buffalo, Iroquois Six Nations League

Meanwhile, Wilson, the monitor of the station was viewing the heated duel between Shikyo and their top officer in action. The door slid open as his Caucasian friend Cal returned from a check with the patients.

“So how has it been so far?” asked Cal.

“He just Summoned Terra Firma; once José Summons his Fusion Monsters, there’s rarely anything to stop him,” Wilson commented, “isn’t that right, Cal?”

“Well I say that Shikyo have what it takes to beat our top inspector,” said the Caucasian partner Cal.

“Now I get it,” said Wilson, “still sore about him beating that lame Toolbox Warrior Deck of yours?” Wilson suggested.

Wilson was clearly not so pleased with his friend’s comment and took out something from his pockets. Then, he showed it to his friend to see.

“Honest Abe says José wins,” said Wilson, “and you know he never lies.”

“Oh, you wanna bet this through,” said Cal.

“And what may this commotion be?” said a third voice.

The 2 operators turned around and saw two high figures of the local hierarchy. One of them was an elderly Amerindian male donned in native robes with a headdress of multi-coloured feathers, while he was accompanied by a White man in a suit.

“Attorney-Consultant Sir,” exclaimed Cal.

“Grand Sachem of the Seneca Nation!” exclaimed Wilson, “what are you tow doing here?”

“I was guided here by the spirits at first,” wondered the Grand Sachem, but he then saw the holo-screen projected, “but is that a duel with my nephew? Let’s us watch this to while away time.”

01:49, 14 May 2092

Forest Regions, Seneca Nation, Iroquois Six Nations League

And then, Shikyo drew out his next card. (9-6)

“What could he have there?” Shikyo thought, “Elemental Recharge? Doom Acceleration? Soul Union?”

“With 6 Speed Counters, I activate the Speed Spell – Power Baton,” he said, “by sending a monster in my Deck to the Graveyard, I can allow my monster to gain that Monster’s Attack. Therefore, I sent the Pyre of Malice for Shutendoji to gain 2200 Points.”

Shikyo quickly discarded the monster and Shutendoji growled loudly in gean. (3700/800)

“Attack Terra Firma now!” he cried.

“Activate Trap Card, Hero’s Guard!” José declared, “Terra Firma can’t be destroyed and I remove Ocean from play.”

Shutendoji consumed his jug of wine and spat it at Terra Firma. However, he was guarded from the poisonous winery. Also, José drew a card as per his Trap Card, the Speed Spell – Shift Down.

José (LP: 1100) Shikyo (LP: 1100)

José (LP: 1100) Shikyo (LP: 1100)

“At least we are now evened,” Shikyo said, “I Set 3 face-downs and end my turn.”

With Shikyo’s turn ending, his Shutendoji returned to its original stats. (1500/800) José began to draw his card as they veered rightwards from the trees. (10-7) He looked at his newly-drawn card, Elemental Hero Wildheart.

“I could Release this monster for Terra Firma to crush him in one blow…but I must account that face-down too,” he thought.

“Firstly, I Summon the Elemental Hero Wildheart in Attack Mode,” José said.

In a burst of energy, a tanned figure appeared. His appearance was seemingly Native American or Aboriginal design, with a large sabre strapped to his back. (1500/1600)

“This time…I choose not to use Terra Firma’s effect and go straight for the battle,” José said, “Attack the Shutendoji with Terra Firma Impact!”

“Just what I’m waiting for,” Shikyo cried, “I activate Trap Card, Enemy Attack Alert – Yellow Alert. When you attack my monster, I can Special Summon another one from my hand that will take the attack…and I choose the Woollen Blanket Spirit, Ittan Momen.”

Suddenly, Terra Firma’s attack was blocked off by a new monster. This one was like a piece of living cloth. (1200/1500) In place, it was destroyed instead and Wildheart was bound by the remnants of the youkai. (1000/1600)

“And for your information, Ittan Momen is a demon that wraps itself around victims and this nature is reflected in its effect,” Shikyo explained, “the wrapping has lowered your Ace Monster by 500.”

“Then thank goodness I still have Wildheart left,” José said, “He’ll do the job for me instead.”

The primitive-looking warrior unsheathed his huge sabre and readied himself to attack.

“A kamikaze attack!” exclaimed Shikyo.

“I wanted to play it during my first attack, but it’s never too late,” said José as his Trap Card opened.

“But Wildheart’s immune to Traps, so there’s no point in making him stronger,” Shikyo said.

“Who needs to strengthen my monster when I can weaken your monster instead,” José said, “My Swamp of the Fallen Trap Card will do just that, halving its Attack.”

Suddenly, a shot of swamp slime splattered all over the Shutendoji. (750/800) Wildhear proceeded to slash it in half, with success at that.

José (LP: 1100) Shikyo (LP: 850)

José (LP: 1100) Shikyo (LP: 850)

“Perhaps I should be thanking you because without any monster now, I can play this,” Shikyo said.

His face-down Trap opened up the door of a dark gloomy Shinto shrine appeared.

“The Shinto shrines house undead spirits from the Other Side, and this card is used to bring them to this plane,” Shikyo said, “so let me call forth Goka, the Pyre of Malice!”

Suddenly, a solemn ring of a Buddhist bell struck and echoed throughout the Iroquois forest. The shrine doors ominously creaked open and a giant bronze Buddhist bell came into view.

“A bell?” wondered José.

Suddenly, the bell rang again…and a hellish roar was heard instead. The entire bronze bell was lit aflame and the flames later took the form of a demonic pyre. (2200/1900)

“Not just any bell, but Goka, the Pyre of Malice,” Shikyo said, “I believe I mentioned it as the monster that I banished earlier for Power Baton’s effect.”

“I play Shift Down then, which decreases my Speed Counters by…6,” José said.

True to what he said, his Prongs really did slow down drastically until it was far behind his opponent’s. (4-7) He looked at his cards drawn and grinned.

“And listen closely, because I Set 2 face-downs as my final move,” he said.

Although José had already ended, Shikyo didn’t even draw his card. Yet, their Standby Phases began with the increase of Speed Counters. (5-8)

“Since I used Power Baton on my previous turn, I cannot draw now,” said Shikyo, “but I still got my other tricks left here. Take for example, during my Standby Phase; I can Special Summon a Fireball Token in Defence Mode.”

Suddenly, the infernal flames within Goka flared up again and a small fireball with a demonic face appeared. (100/100)

“As I expected, a weak monster was Summoned and I could use Terra Firma Gravity to attack,” José thought as he stared at his face-down card, “but there’s still Goka, but I got him covered against Wildheart.”

“Now I activate my Pyre of Malice’s effect,” Shikyo, “by Releasing a FIRE Monster like the Fireball Token, it gains 500 Attack Points.”

Suddenly, the Fireball Token retreated into its source and the flaming bell burnt even greater. (2700/1900) In his response, José gulped in his possible distress.

“Goka, the Pyre of Malice attacks Wildheart with Hellfire,” he declared.

“Fallen for it, my Trap Card Covering Fire activates,” José declared, “this will…”

“Here comes my own Counter Trap,” Shikyo returned, with his last card played, “this is called Dark Bribe and it negates your Spell and Trap Card, but you can draw a card in all this.”

Covering Fire was shattered into pieces, as was all hopes for Josehawa to win the duel. He looked at his drawn-card, Elemental Stratos.

“Oh the irony of life sometimes,” he said, “do the right thing and finish me off.”

Goka wasted no time in this, and it spewed its hellish flare at Wildheart. The resulting fire even hit the Prongs and it veered off course to a crash.

José (LP: 0) Shikyo (LP: 850)

“Now, perhaps you want to talk things out like gentlemen,” Shikyo said as he stopped his own Aka-Oni.

However, the Iroquois Ranger responded by taking something out of his pocket; it was a pistol aimed at him.

“Start with what you’re doing here and what is your connection with the two people we had found?” he asked.

Shikyo was completely calm in all this, dropping a small marble onto the ground and smoke covered the surrounding area. Coughing a few times before the smoke cleared away, he found all that remained was his oni helmet and a katana was pointed at his neck. Without his mask or helmet, Shikyo’s face was quite handsome, if not for the cross-shaped scarring around his eyes.

“Ho ho, if it isn’t that Jap,” Arep remarked, “I’ve seen enough for now. Master would be fuming.”

He restarted his Eros for a final journey out, but his roaring engines were heard by Josehawa. He ducked at the katana and fired a few shots from his gun at the rock formations above, but they only hit the rocks.

“We were seen by someone else, we don’t have that much time,” José said, “so who you are really?”

“Let’s just say that I’m a close friend of Elisabeth Sutherland…” Shikyo said, keeping his katana and hopping on his D-Wheel, “and I owe her a lot. Just send them a ride to New York will do.”

Buffalo, Iroquois Six Nations League, Occidental Union

Hours since that duel, it was still early dawn in Buffalo and thus dark. However, a large bus with the bold words ‘To New York’ on it was about to leave town. At its main door, Josehawa and the Great Sachem were escorting Elise and Vladimir to the bus. Overhead, Shikyo spied upon them from a building’s skyline.

“This bus will take you guys to New York by noon latest without any road jam,” said José, “thanks for all your cooperation with us. We welcome you for any future journeys here.”

After they boarded the bus and it left for the road ahead, Josehawa was left alone with his uncle the Great Sachem of his tribe.

“Uncle, are you certain she’s the one?” José asked.

“There is no doubt; the spirits don’t lie when I sensed a strong presence here,” said the Great Sachem, “Nephew, there will be a time where in you are needed to help her and she’ll receive the blessings of the spirits themselves.”

“If that is the case, then I’ll do what I must then,” said José.

Branch: Occidental Union Civil Defence Front

Strength: approx. 1000+

HQ: Buffalo, Seneca Nation

The Iroquois Rangers were founded by the Occidental Union Congress’ decision to hold a semi-private civil defence force for the Amerindian-ruled territories to keep the peace and avoid future accusations of unwelcomed interference. It should be noted that other similar organisations include the Sequoya Rangers of Sequoya Five Nations State (former Oklahoma) or the Dual National Guardians of the Lakota-Cheyenne Alliance. (former Montana)

Most of these recruits were Amerindians, while Caucasians, Negroes and other races (such as Latinos or Asians) do participate. Their jobs ranged from protection of natural boundaries to common police officers or even anti-terrorist units. The Iroquois Rangers are frequently praised as an elite force in the Union, equal to the esteemed Royal Order of His Britannic Majesty.

Iroquois-New York Land Border, New England, Occidental Union

Across the border between Iroquois League and New York Area, the traffic was busy and almost jammed with ongoing cars and vehicles of all kinds. Among them was a bus heading for New York from the Iroquois; the same one that Elise and Vladimir took off earlier that day.

Inside that bus, most of its passengers were already sleeping away due to boredom. In fact, Elise and Vladimir were barely awake by then. Elise took a look at a holo-screen fixed in the bus, at this time the morning news would be on and a newscaster in an outdoor location by a cavern and the familiar church nearby.

“Good morning, people over across New England, “Gabby here, on the location of a landslide. And where may this place be you ask? We are currently at the Ohio-Virginia border, near the town of Benjaminshire and its famous landmark, the Crimson Cathedral. Let’s ask an officer in the vicinity on the details.”

The camera then turned towards a few Sheriffs of the town; one of them had his arm bandaged by a paramedic.

“This here is Sheriff Jeremy Mosby, allegedly present on the site itself,” the newscaster said, “Mr. Mosby, would you be so kind as to describe the events that transpired here?”

“Well, I was patrolling the region that time...when I saw…saw this…” he described, “…this suspicious character lurking…around the Crimson Cathedral. I gave chase to him…and ended up into this tunnel. But, then it collapsed…but I fled in time…no sure for that guy though…”

Then, another Sheriff with a more decorative uniform grabbed the newscaster’s mic from her.

“Superintendent Jonathan MacRichardson here and I would like to make a further statement on this tunnel discovered,” he said, “We have found out that it is a secret passageway between here and Dixieland. Under orders from the Union Congress, we are now shutting it down.”

“So in regards to this issue of these secret tunnels, what is the legislation behind it now?” she asked.

“I am in no position to say it, but several officials have met up in Philadelphia Federal District to discuss on the matter,” he said, “I am told that legislation would be released to the press by nightfall.”

“Ok, and until tonight for perhaps a new law made,” she said, “back to you, Hank.”

The holo-screen then phased out to a man sitting in the station.

“And on the local news, the World Trade Centre will be organising the Multi-Science Convention for the first time in our American continent,” he said, “among them would be the Relativity Physics Convention, Engineering Convention, Biochemistry Convention…”

Also, Gertrud was watching the same news broadcast as well in another holo-screen kept on the Revolution. She dug into her pockets, and took out two tickets from it.

“Damn it, that I have no one to go with,” she whined, “it would be so sad to go there alone…or do I?”

On the way back to New York, we had heard this news. And this could be bad news for Elise, who needs to get to Dixieland. But she’ll have to worry about them later. We take you back to New York, where scientist idlers await. In a convention hall of many things in a place most infamous for attacks, a new duel was set and it may decide…

Revolution, New York Harbour, New York Metropolitan Zone

Up in the morning on New York Harbour, the scene of the Revolution was no surprise to the locals, who were told that it was a military ship allied to them. The sole inhabitants of the craft were only two however; these two being Ali and Gertrud.

Gertrud entered into the control brig, and found Ali sleeping on his chair again.

“Poor guy, he must still be worked up over last night,” she said, “perhaps it wouldn’t such a good idea that…”

Suddenly, a beeping sounded and woke Ali from his rest rather abruptly. Gertrud went up to the control and pressed a button to receive it, and Joseph Sutherland was on the line via hologram.

“Finally, I had been calling you for hours already. Don’t tell me you’re slept the whole night,” said Sutherland.

“Sorry sir, but how Elise is now?” he asked.

“Ha ha, that was what I was calling the whole night for,” laughed Sutherland, “she’s safe and sound and on her way back to New York. If I’m not right, she will be back sometime today.”

“Well that’s a good relief,” Ali said.

“Indeed, but you have a job to do,” Sutherland resumed to his usual serious tone, “you need to rebuild the Brunnhilde or a similar craft as the original one was badly damaged during the crash onto Iroquois.”

“Then I must need supplies for it,” Ali said, “I mean, there are some spare parts I can salvage from the ship here…but I need a lot more important parts that I can’t just anyhow take from here.”

“Don’t worry, we have a solution here,” Gertrud butted in, “there is a convention in the World Trade Centre on the sciences…and there’s even a place there for some spare parts under Engineering.”

“Wonderful jolly good idea, you go do that,” said Sutherland, “I’m out and best of luck.”

His hologram disappeared from the machine, leaving both scientists alone.

“Now what you’re saying about here?” he asked.

Gertrud simply showed him the ticket to the convention.

“They say seeing is believing, so believe now,” Gertrud said, “let us go and get those parts.”

Multi-Science Convention, World Trade Centre, Lower Manhattan District

Manhattan District was the centre of New York itself, where the Federation Building and World Trade Centre resided. As usual, the World Trade Centre would be ever-busy with the ongoing Multi-Science Convention, the first of its kind in America. (The rest were conducted so far in London, Berlin, Greater Tokyo, Dai Hong Kong, Paris, Prague, Helsinki, Copenhagen, etc)

The Multi-Science Convention could be perceived as heaven for science fanatics. It had many display works on famous works, and even some dangerous demonstrations at that. Ali and Gertrud (with a headscarf and sunglasses incognito) were touring around the crowded area. Ali took notice of the many security cameras and the many NYPD officers stationed in the vicinity.

“Security’s sure tight in here,” Ali mentioned.

“This place had been the hotspot for terrorists for years, and it took a lot of decision-making just for the International Scientist Council to take this place,” Gertrud said, “and look, there’s another good place over there.”

The German scientist pointed towards a stall selling various electronic parts called ‘Big Dick’s Cheap Parts’. While they were browsing around, a short Texan man in his mid-40s and wearing a white Western outfit crept up from behind.

“Howdy, y’all welcome to Big Dick’s Cheap Parts and I’m Big Dick!” he introduced with a yell of vigour.

“You don’t look so big from my point of view,” Ali joked, measuring the Texan salesman (without his large hat) up to his stomach area.

“Ok big guy, I know you come here on this almighty fine day looking for cheap goods from me,” Big Dick said.

“And you would charge for saying your height,” Ali continued.

“No no, that would be unsporting of me as a businessman and I lose out in the end too,” Big Dick claimed, “instead of endless browsing, how about you say your needs and I get them for ye.”

“Bet a second-hand place like yours don’t keep a hydrogen combustor,” said Ali.

“My, that is quite a challenge you set for me…not!” Big Dick laughed, “I can remember all my dealings so clearly that I need no notebook. Just a month…I got myself a working hydrogen combustor from the Russian Army in Moscow. A most generous lot those Russies…with the correct payment.”

“But I need the cartridge type, not the Russian ballistic missile type!” Ali demanded.

“You should’ve said that earlier!” Big Dick cried, “I got that…just fresh from my last trip to Greater Tokyo yesterday.”

“You must the resourceful type of guy,” Gertrud said.

“Of course, of course, I am only a loyal member of the Dealers’ League,” he proclaimed, “we set the rule of merchants everywhere and this stabilises the society altogether.”

“I trust you now,” Ali said, “so I also need…a holo-screen projector, surround sound system, the Turbo Duel system for the Bamides D-Wheels…”

Big Dick’s Cheap Parts, Multi-Science Convention, World Trade Centre, Lower Manhattan District

After some time, Big Dick returned to his stall to meet Ali and Gertrud. With him, he had two boxes full of equipment on a trolley. Due to his height, he was aided by a NYPD officer, pushing the trolley. After he reached the destination, the officer walked off.

“Good help we got here, not like back in Singapore with all those busy-like-hell ingrates,” he praised, “their government has received my complaint and hope that’ll improve their attitude.”

“You’re quite well-travelled too,” Gertrud noted.

“To all four corners of the world, I can assure you,” Big Dick boasted, “wherever there be business to be made, I’ll be there! And all these stuff cost you 1,000 New English pounds, but before you make an outcry…I offer ye a special offer.”

“What offer?” Gertrud asked.

“That is if we duel, and the costs are cut by 50% if the buyer wins,” he explained.

“And what if the buyer loses,” Ali said.

“Then he’ll merely pay in full as simple as that,” Big Dick said, “I won’t be cheating my customers here, no sir. But I must warn you that a traveller like me has come across a great deal of things.”

He scurried through another stack of boxes and pulled out his Duel Disk. Then, he took out a set of cards from his pockets and fitted it in.

“So who be my opponent in this bout?” he asked, with the enthusiasm of a child.

“I will be your opponent, Big Dick,” Gertrud said as she took off her disguise, “and I take it you would know me now.”

“Miss Gertrud Eisenstein, you’re much more beautiful in person,” Big Dick said, “I got a spare Duel Disk too for guests’ use.”

Taking another Duel Disk from the box, she fitted it around her arm and fitted in her deck as well.

“It fits good, must be the one-size-fits-all type,” said Gertrud, “and let’s duel!”

As the duel was about to start, some people in the vicinity all heard the call and soon crowded around to see the spectacle.

“Alright, Merchant’s Law says that the customers always take the first step,” Big Dick said, with a friendly gesture.

“Why thank you,” she replied, drawing a card, “I Summon the Naturia Guardian in Attack Mode.”

Suddenly, a large growth sprouted from the ground. It grew to become a tree with the vague craving of a bearded old man’s face on it. Part of this ‘tree’ was overgrown with wild vine. (1600/400)

She then stared at Big Dick, who took the hint quickly.

“Done already, I expected more from the Western European Champion,” he said, “well…here I go!”

He slowly held onto his next card and dramatically drew it out with great force. He looked at it and the rest of his hand and laughed in joy.

“Can you believe it? Just first turn alone and I got in me hands a combo that always shook the folks up!” he proclaimed, “reminds me of that time in Las Vegas…”

“Can you then show us this so-called great combo of yours?” someone from the audience cried.

“Ok ok, don’t get all worked up now,” he said as he played a card, “I reckon a Champ like yourself would’ve seen a Foolish Burial Spell Card. Folks in Hollywood link Texans with premature burials, and this card does just that.”

He broke off his speech and carefully searched through his deck for a card. After getting it, he showed it for all to see; some card called Quantity. He then discarded it to the Graveyard slot.

“And now, I play the Flute of Hamelin,” he continued, “you heard of the Pied Piper story? This card does the trick of sending all copies of a monster that I sent to the Graveyard this turn. And guess what, I got 2 more Quantities.”

He searched for his whole deck for the 2 said cards, and discarded them off.

“Enough with numbers, I Summon some Quality to the field in Attack Mode,” he said.

In a burst of light, a Machine appeared. It was roughly humanoid, and his head was spherical. (1200/500) Just then, a few of vines from Naturia Guardian wrapped around Quality. (1900/400)

“When you Normal Summon a Monster, my Naturia Guardian can exploit its life force by 300 points,” Gertrud explained, “but I don’t think you would be attacking in the first place.”

“I got loads of time for it,” Big Dick reassured, “all is left is for these 3 cards to place their places below.”

Three cards were seen Set upon the field. Naturia Guardian let go of Quality, resuming its regular stats. (1600/400)

“Did he just use up all cards in his hand…on his first turn?” Ali noted, “really like a cowboy.”

“And I draw,” Gertrud called, “I Summon the Naturia Beetle in Attack Mode!”

Suddenly, a cute Hercules beetle appeared. Despite being called as an Insect, it looked more of an acorn design. (400/1800)

“And I top it off with the Pot of Greed Spell Card,” she said, while drawing 2 cards and her Beetle glowed. (1800/400)

“What in San Hill…” Big Dick exclaimed.

“My Naturia Beetle will have its stats swapped once a Spell Card is played,” she said, “and now…my Naturia Guardian attacks your Quantity.”

Vines sprouted out from the tree-like guardian and whipped fiercely at the humanoid Machine. It was badly broken, and exploded.

Big Dick (LP: 3600) Gertrud (LP: 4000)

“Ha, when you destroyed my Quality, you have fallen for its effect,” Big Dick gloated, “this lets me Summon all the Quantities I can amass in the Graveyard, three…”

Three cards slid out of Big Dick’s Graveyard slot and he played all of them. They were a group of similar spherical humanoid drone-like Machines. (500/400 x3)

“And I activate the Cyber Summon Blaster,” he continued as a cannon-tank appeared, “reminds me of this World War II military parade I saw in St. Petersburg once. Anyway, it deals you 300 points of Damage for every Machine Monster Special Summoned.”

The cannon-tank charged up with energy and fired off three electrical blasts at Gertrud. However, she discarded her top card (Naturia Sunflower) and a cute rock with eyes appeared. (1200/1200)

“By playing a Trap Card, you have allowed me to Summon the Naturia Rock to the field as long I discard the top card of my deck,” Gertrud said.

Big Dick (LP: 3600) Gertrud (LP: 3100)

Big Dick (LP: 3600) Gertrud (LP: 3100)

“And sorry, but quantity is not most certainly not quality, and this does not stop my Naturia Beetle from attacking you,” Gertrud said, “Attack the middle one.”

“Hey now, I activate the Trap Card called Alert,” he said, “and through this card, I can activate a face-down Continuous Spell Card…like my Special Coating Body.”

Another card opened up, it showed a picture of a Quantity glowing with a golden metallic coat. Due to a new Spell Card, Naturia Beetle’s stats fell. (400/1800) The middle Quality spotted the incoming threat and fired a series of gunfire at it, destroying it.

Big Dick (LP: 3600) Gertrud (LP: 3000)

“Naturia Rock, you take the lead now,” she continued as the small boulder hurled itself towards the same Quality, but it rolled back instead.

Big Dick (LP: 2900) Gertrud (LP: 3000)

Big Dick (LP: 2900) Gertrud (LP: 3000)

“This is my Special Coating Body and it reinforces all my Quantities that are Special Summoned with a new and improved paintjob, one that prevents their destruction,” Big Dick said.

“But is it worth it to risk your Life Points just to Summon…eh…a bunch of junk,” Gertrud wondered.

“Don’t look down upon my Quantities for they are very versatile beings,” Big Dick cautioned.

“Fine then, I end my turn,” she said.

Big Dick grew anxious as to his draw, and his anxiety went sky high as he saw what he got, Gamble.

“Ok, I move all my Quantities to Defence and Set this card and then you can go on,” he said.

All his Quantities all crouched down and a Set card at the back.

Then, Gertrud made her draw, adding her hand size to six again.

“Bingo! I play the Trap Card called Gamble!” Big Dick declared and the card opened, “with a flip of coin, I make a guess of its result. If I’m right, then it’s five cards for me.”

“But if otherwise, I can go for another round and I may get a card to destroy your defence line,” Gertrud mentioned, “this card is always too risky and luck-based for my tastes.”

“But isn’t the world of duelling and business all about luck and getting the right cards,” he said, “I once spent a day scouring all corners of Europe hounding a wealthy collector over the rare Caesar-Type D-Wheel to be sold, and I succeeded when we finally duelled on some private Mediterranean island.”

He took out a coin from his pocket and showed both sides to everyone around. (It was a normal coin indeed) He then flipped it up across the air, turning endlessly midair.

“…Heads!” he cried.

The coin fell down and flipped some more, then a face was seen on it in its final position. Big Dick and everyone saw this; Big Dick laughing out loud as he drew 5 cards at once.

“Luckily for you, I still have no way to break through your defences,” Gertrud said, “so I Set 2 face-down cards and end my turn.”

“Draw,” Big Dick said with another draw, “If your Beetle were still here, then it would be jumping for joy by now.”

He took another card, and played it right away. It was a Speed Card, showing a sniper gun, with a targeting range.

“This is Sniper Mode, which allows all Level 3 and below Machines to attack its opponents,” Big Dick said, “and to let you know, all my Quantities are ready to shoot you head-on as soon as I put them all into Attack Mode. Let’s go, boys!”

Gatling guns opened from openings as all three Quantities stood up. All of them fired a near endless barrage of bullets at Gertrud herself.

Big Dick (LP: 2900) Gertrud (LP: 1500)

Big Dick (LP: 2900) Gertrud (LP: 1500)

“That was…quite impressive actually,” Gertrud admitted.

“Thought you would say that; they always say that when I shower them with bullets,” Big Dick laughed, “I throw one-two cards down and you can go next.”

“Good enough,” Gertrud said, drawing a card, “I play Twister! By paying 500 Life Points, I can destroy a face-up Spell or Trap Card.”

“No goodie…” Big Dick frowned.

A twister swept up and blew off Special Coating Body. Due to this, all the Quantities lost their shiny coating, and resumed their regular dull colouring.

Big Dick (LP: 2900) Gertrud (LP: 1000)

Big Dick (LP: 2900) Gertrud (LP: 1000)

“And I Summon the Naturia Triumph to the field,” she continued.

She set the card down, and a creature appeared. It was Plant-like, and looked more like a strawberry with the usual cute appearance of the archetype. (600/1500)

“And this guy is a Tuner for your info,” Gertrud said, “and I Tune Triumph with my Rock now!”

Naturia Triumph squealed with joy and disappeared into 2 rings, that flew into Naturia Rock. The Rock dissolved into three stars.

“Synchro Summon! Come forth, the Naturia Beast!” Gertrud cried.

Suddenly, a beam of light struck on the field. The Naturia Beast, a tiger with green grass-like fur and bark-like limbs appeared and let out a roar. (2200/1700)

“Reminds me of this trip to a safari in India once,” Big Dick mentioned, while trying to keep his positivity.

“You’re so much of an optimist here. But what I’m about to do won’t be so optimistic for you,” Gertrud said, “Naturia Guardian, attack the Quantity now!”

The Naturia Guardian let out a moan as it let out vines to attack Quantity and it went into an explosion.

Big Dick (LP: 1800) Gertrud (LP: 1000)

Big Dick (LP: 1800) Gertrud (LP: 1000)

“And my Naturia Beast will have a go at you to finish you off,” Gertrud declared.

Naturia Beast roared again and leapt at another Quantity. However, a face-down card was opened; Defence Draw. Despite the Quantity destroyed by a crushing claw, Big Dick was spared from early defeat and drew a new card.

“You really got lucky now,” Gertrud said, “guess it comes in with the trade. I just end my turn with 2 face-downs. ”

Big Dick wasted no time and quickly drew out his next card.

“I use Sniper Mode’s effect to attack you directly with both Quantities,” he declared quickly.

Both the Quantities readied their Gatling guns and fired them at Gertrud again. However, Naturia Beast took the blunt of the attacks and bursted into shards.

“I activate Synchro Barrier, which involves me to Release a Synchro and reduce all Battle Damage dealt this turn to zero,” Gertrud explained, “I Summoned Naturia Beast not just for the fun of it.”

“I got your point, now get mine,” the short trader said as he played another card, “I play Magic Planter and by ridding myself of a Continuous Trap Card, I can draw 2 cards.”

Suddenly, the Cyber Summon Blaster vanished into light grains and the Texan dealer drew 2 cards. (Ruklamba the Spirit King and Fiendish Engine Ω)

“And now, I got another point to make out,” he said.

A new card opened up, showing a demonic face burning in searing flames.

“This is Basara, and by Releasing a monster, I can destroy a monster of a higher Level,” he said, “so I Release the Level 1 Quantity and use it on your Level 4 Naturia Guardian.”

“That’s what you think,” Gertrud said, “Activate Trap Card, Shining Silver Force!”

The second Quantity disappeared into the Trap Card, and a fireball with a vague image of Quantity flew out. However, the fire was reflected back by a silver barrier formed around Naturia Guardian and destroyed both Basara, and Sniper Mode.

“It activates with your Trap Card that damages me, and then it will instead destroy all your face-up Spells and Trap Cards at one go,” she explained, “hence your face-down was spared.”

“I just Set this face-down and that will be all,” he said as he put the card down.

“I draw,” Gertrud said, “I Summon the Naturia Dragonfly in Attack Mode.”

Suddenly, a red dragonfly with big buggy eyes appeared. (1200/400)

“And its effect allows it to gain 200 additional Attack Points for every Naturia Monster in the Graveyard, and I got five o them including the Naturia Sunflower discarded for Naturia Rock,” she said, (2200/400) “Attack the last Quantity, Naturia Guardian!”

The Naturia Guardian unleashed another assault of vines and lashed at Quantity, destroying it in an instance.

Big Dick (LP: 700) Gertrud (LP: 1000)

Big Dick (LP: 700) Gertrud (LP: 1000)

“And now my Naturia Dragonfly will…” Gertrud said.

“Don’t just jump the gun yet, milady,” Big Dick said, “I believe I had taken over 1000 points of damage, is that not right?”

“Yeah, and what’s your point here?” asked someone from the audience.

“Great, that means I get to stay in the game after all,” he laughed, “after taking the Damage, I am allowed to Special Summon this particular monster…I call upon thee, Ruklamba the Spirit King and he’s my shield.”

Suddenly, a new creature appeared. It was alligator on hind legs with a flowing mane of hair and watery eyes. (1000/2000)

“Naturia Dragonfly attacks Ruklamba then,” she said.

The sonic buzz from Naturia Dragonfly began to overwhelm the Spirit King and it shattered into pixels soon afterwards.

“I Set a card and end turn,” Gertrud said, “and try some more.”

“And try I shall,” Big Dick responded, “I activate my Backup Soldier Trap Card, which lets me take up to 3 Normal Monsters with less than 1500 Attack each back on hand.”

Suddenly, all three Quantities all returned to his hand.

“And now, I play the simple Monster Reborn Spell Card,” he said.

Suddenly, Ruklamba rose from the ground and growled with its gapping mouth. (1000/2000)

“But he won’t be here for long,” Big Dick said, “his effect requires me to Release it, but I am able to Summon as many monsters from my hand as possible, given that they add up to no more than 2000.”

“And all three Quantities are 500 apiece,” Ali mentioned, “good thing Cyber Summon Blaster was destroyed.”

However, only 2 Quantities were Summoned instead. (500/400 x2)

“2 of them! You’re planning something now,” Gertrud suspected.

“Yup, I Release these two Quantities for something with quality,” Big Dick said as he revealed his Monster Card, “the Fiendish Engine Ω!”

He slid the 2 Quantities into his Graveyard slot and they melded into a single globe of light. Suddenly, a gigantic form loamed over the field. It was a Machine designed like a monster truck with red overtones and a demonic appearance. (2800/2000)

“But by Normal Summoning, you have made my Guardian stronger,” Gertrud noted.

Vines from the Naturia Guardian went up and wrapped around the demonic machine. (1900/400)

“And it can gain 1000 Attack Points with only one small catch,” the salesman said.

Suddenly, the Fiendish Engine roared and power literally overloaded throughout its circuitry. (3800/2000)

“Attack her Naturia Guardian now and bash it good with Motor Rampage!” he declared.

The glaring eyes of the Fiendish Engine glowed and it roared in pure rage, charging towards the Naturia Guardian at full speed.

“Activate Trap Card, Naturia Disaster!” Gertrud declared.

Her face-down card opened up, showing a giant hurricane in a jungle region blowing everything.

“I take it that you had journeyed to Eastern South America or West Africa in your lifetime and seen how the hurricanes from the Atlantic ravage the region,” Gertrud said, “this card activates when you threaten my Naturia Monster with an attack, and it stirs up the wrath of Nature itself; destroying your monster instead and you lose Life Points equal to half that monster’s Attack.”

“Double no-good,” Big Dick said as his last words.

Suddenly, the winds stirred up within the building itself, becoming faster and faster till the rate of a standard storm. It concentrated into a single tornado blast and shot out to blow Fiendish Engine Ω into scrap metal and they were hoisted up in the sky. As the winds stopped, the metal remnants were actually overhead of Big Dick and fell upon him.

As the duel was over, all the Solid Vision effects were shut down and Big Dick lied on the floor. Soon, he realised the system off and stood up. With that wondrous outcome, the crowd gathered about up to over 200 were all roaring in cheers and the NYPD officers were dispatching the crowd. (not after cheering along with the crowd)

“So…its 500 New English pounds for all those parts,” he said, “please pay up now.”

“I could pay for 1000 actually, but 500 it is then,” Ali said as he took out the notes and gave them to the dealer.

“Enjoy and hope we may meet in the future,” Big Dick said, waving out to them.

After the ordeal, it was almost a few minutes before noon as they left the World Trade Centre with their newly-bought items and into Manhattan streets, a similarly busy society like the rest of New York would be.

“And in the end, there’s no terrorists lurking around,” Ali claimed.

“Hey look!” Gertrud cried.

“Huh, Neo Al-Qaeda?” he wondered.

A bus moved towards a bus stop near them, and its passengers left it. Among them were Elise and Vladimir they left the bus. Gertrud and Ali went over to greet them.

“Hey, you’re back,” Ali, “and for how long?”

“Just recently and what are you two doing out here?” Elise asked.

“Rebuilding a good machine that we all shall remember forever,” said Ali, “but perhaps you should know where your sister and the rest go off to…”

“The Crimson Cathedral in Ohio Province, the Sheriffs got to it and shut it down,” Elise said, “any other ways out now?”

“And this could be worse indeed,” Vladimir added, “till now, only Texas, New Orleans, Rio Grande and Cuba actually reinforces laws against Dixieland immigration, but now this conference they hold will also involve New England, Sequoya and Great Plains.”

-Sr. Gen. Napoleon la François (Lord Protector of New Orleans)

-Sub-Lord Protector due to be appointed by French Foreign Legion

After the election of the Albino Supremacy Front to President of Dixieland, the French-dominated Louisiana was threatened with discrimination due to the “American Only” policy. Due to this, it had caused the Revolution of New Orleans which had the support of France of the AEU and Quebec of the Occidental Union.

After rebellion, New Orleans was founded as an independent nation. However, due to its proximity to Dixieland’s State of Louisiana, it was eventually called under French protection and the local government was abolished in favour of a French military protectorate.

Currently, problems faced in New Orleans include illegal immigration from Louisiana and the occasional attacks from Dixieland, who claimed to be “liberating” New Orleans from French rule.

*=Population is uncertain due to illegal immigration from Louisiana.

Occidental Union Congress Building, Philadelphia Federal District, Occidental Union

With the abandonment of Washington DC as the capital city, the historical Philadelphia was chosen as the new capital city for the former Super-Union and the current Occidental Union with power as a federal district like Washington used to be.

It would be the seat of government of the superstate ruling Anglo-Franco America and the Anglo-Saxon Motherland of the British Isle, and the Congress Building served as a diplomatic ground for the Union and its neighbouring states (such as Cuba and South America).

Outside the Congress Building that night, reporters from across the world swarmed towards the Building as the door opened up. A small team of Secret Service agents first marched out, heralding the coming of the Speaker of Congress, Jennifer O’Brian, an ethnic Irish of Britannian nationality. She walked towards a stand and took out a mic for her speech.

“Fellow citizens of the Union, foreign brethren from both Cuba and Nouvelle-Orleans, and people from the 4 corners of the free world, our Union has realised of a tragic flaw in our administration of the Immigration Issue at hand,” she said, “however, we have come together to discuss on this issue and have come to a conclusion. As of now, the Republic of New England, Economic Union of the Great Plains and Sequoya Five Nations State has declared to render all immigrations to and from Dixieland illegal.”

Her last statement would startled an uproar from the press surrounding, who were all shouting their queries across.

“Then what will be the case for those who already immigrated here from Dixieland illegally?” asked a reporter.

“They will be safe, since the new law would be only in effect from the minute it is declared to the public,” she said.

In New York, Elise and the others (except for Ali) were also watching this news development as well.

“This would’ve happened someday,” Vladimir said as he turned to Elise, “if only we also go to Ohio then…I’m sorry for dragging you with me.”

“Not your fault, and I wanted to drag myself along in the first place,” Elise verified.

“But the problem remains that how to get there?” Gertrud said.

Suddenly, Vladimir’s holo-phone rang out an Ochi Chernye tune (an Old Russian Romance) and he quickly took the call. Chiming’s face appeared on it, and he looked quite unusually worried-stricken.

“Vladimir…” he said, “…I believe you had seen the news…”

“Yeah, they say there’re laws barring goings to Dixieland and what about it?” Vladimir said.

“…Eh…come to Nouvelle-Orleans…by tomorrow night perhaps…” he said, before cutting off.

“Weird, he’s rarely like that,” Vladimir said, “what happened to him?”

On the other side of the call, Chiming kept away his holo-phone and looked out to his surroundings. It was a swampy region, with dozens of French Legionnaires guarding a cavern that was blocked off. An Egyptian man of his late teens stood next to him, and looked at Chiming.

“You sure on doing this?” the Egyptian asked.

“Yeah, that’s the only way,” Chiming said.

The law has decreed illegality over going to Dixieland and all available paths are being sealed off as we speak. However, a greater mystery resides over the fact regarding Chiming? The questions of where and what are upon us, but the question of why is the underlying detail. For us to see how things had occurred, the past must be seen first…back in Corsica 2 days ago…

French Foreign Legion HQ, Corsica Dependency, French Fifth Republic

After dropping Natasha off to Baltland, the Le Gallia returned to its HQ in Corsica by evening. The HQ consisted of a main flat-level building with several towers and this was surrounded by a stadium-type platform for Turbo Duel purposes.

In that timeframe, Chiming was due in the cafeteria with most of the lower Legionnaires (as the higher-ups from Lt. Colonel onwards are allowed a special spot of their choosing to dine). Chiming grabbed the night’s dinner (Italian spaghetti) and sat down in the benches with his fellow Legionnaires. Opposite him was a young Egyptian male, looking at him with interest.

“Hello there,” the Egyptian greeted, “never saw you in these parts before. Are you a newbie?”

“No, I’m been here for quite some time,” Chiming said, “I am Warrant Officer Chiming de Baptiste, to let you know. And you’re…”

“Ramut Ishtar, Major of the Legion Pacific Branch,” he introduced, “so it appears that I’m your superior. It’s nice to see you, especially after all those years working out in French Polynesia.”

“Explains how we rarely see each other,” Chiming said, chewing his food, “I am mostly posted off to Western Europe frontier.”

“Ok, I bet we will be seeing more of each other in the near future,” Ramut said, carrying his tray away, “good day, Mr. de Baptiste.”

Later on, after everyone had mostly finished their given dinner, it was cleaning duty for the lower-ranking officers. And the Warrant Officer rank was low enough to earn Chiming cleaning the dishes and it also happened to be his turn.

Suddenly, an announcement broke through the PA system of the whole building.

“May the following officers please head to General Mugabe’s office – Lt. Colonel Margarf Godwin, Major Ramut Ishtar, Warrant Officer Chiming de Baptiste, Captain…”

“Guess I’m excused from kitchen duty now,” Chiming said.

He took off the kitchen gloves and disposed of them into a chute, leaving the cafeteria.

General Mugabe’s Office, French Foreign Legion HQ, Corsica Dependency, French Fifth Republic

The General’s Office was among the higher storeys of the building, and as a high-ranking general, General Mugabe was allowed the third highest tower as his workplace.

The General’s Office was circular like the other offices of the various Generals of the Legion (and even the official Army). A group of a little over a dozen men were gathered there, with the Algerian General Mugabe seated in front.

“Gentlemen, perhaps all of you are wondering why I have called you here in my office today,” Mugabe said, “well, it is in regards from the Nouvelle-Orleans situation.”

“General sir, I believe that I heard that the previous Sub-Lord Protector had been assassinated,” Ramut mentioned.

“And now, the French military command there wants the Legion to provide the Sub-Lord Protector,” he said, “and I put Lt. Colonel Godwin in charge of this specially forged unit and him to be the Sub-Lord Protector of Nouvelle-Orleans.”

“And what about us…” Chiming asked.

“All of you will leave your current posts and head out to Nouvelle-Orleans to backup the French Navy dispatched there,” the General said, “Sr. Gen. la François had chosen to close down borders with Louisiana and there’s been a crackdown on those pathways found. All of you will be set to leave for America by 1000 hours of the next day.”

“Roger, General Sir!” the group of Legionnaires shouted united.

“Good, if there’s no more questions, you may leave,” Gen. Mugabe said.

“General Sir, I wish to speak with you…in private…” said Margarf.

With that cue taken, the other officers left the room to the 2 higher-ups to be alone.

“Margarf, this task…it’s a deadly one ahead…and I can tell that no one will truly willing to take it up,” said the General, “but bear with it while you can.”

“Do not worry, I will be alright,” Margarf replied, “All I ask of you is the logistics of the operation and other information.”

Meanwhile, in an elevator going down, only Chiming and Ramut were alone in it.

“So we happen to be working together in the near future,” said Ramut, “good times we’ll be having.”

However, Chiming was silent; his mind brooding over something else…back in Siberia…

“So you are supposed to go to Dixieland, but came here to see Natasha,” Chiming said, “I can see your good intentions…but the thing about Dixieland is that it is very difficult to get through, at least from Texas, Nouvelle-Orleans, Cuba and Rio Grande. I can only say that there have been pressures over the issue to render it illegal for all surrounding states.”

“…Oh…nothing…” Chiming answered.

Apparently, Ramut was not pleased with the answer and pressed the ‘Stop’ button on the lift. Suddenly, the elevator stopped in its entirety and its lights were off.

“Don’t lie to me, I know you’re fibbing here,” Ramut said, “Now spill it!”

But then, his eyes glowed and he was silent for a moment.

“Dixieland has quite a number of secret pathways that civilian refugees used to travel to what they call a Promised Land,” Ramut said, “However, this also gave the Confederate Army an easy access for siege tactics, thus the Council for the Protection of the State decided to seal off those paths. You’re planning to infiltrate one…”

“Don’t just anyhow incriminate me,” Chiming implored, “…damn it…I’ll tell you…I have a friend who works in a low-profile organisation and they plan to enter the Dixieland, but he missed his trip there…due to personal reasons…”

“You’re not thinking of using the one found in Nouvelle-Orleans to help him,” Ramut added.

“Well…that did come across my mind,” Chiming admitted.

“If they found, the higher-ups, you could be charged with high treason to the Legion,” Ramut warned, “although they couldn’t put you to death, they are very able to deport you back to Vietnam and that’s the last place you’d rather be.”

“If you wanna know what I’m supposed to do for here…then let’s duel,” Chiming challenged.

Ramut smiled at the Vietnamese comrade and pressed the ‘Stop’ button again, and the lights turned back on and it continued moving downward.

“The duel in question would be a Turbo Duel, in the stadium platform around HQ at 1910,” Ramut said, “will be looking forward to it.”

Turbo Duel Track, French Foreign Legion HQ, Corsica Dependency, French Fifth Republic

Outside, it was already night time in Corsica and the lights lit up the darkness of the building. Chiming was waiting by his Rouge Bourdon; a D-Wheel that would personally favoured and reviewed his whole deck.

“Wonder if he would be using another Le Esprit…I heard the Pacific variation uses the Sky Blue colour scheme over the traditional Royal Blue,” he mused.

Suddenly, he heard a loud deafening roar of engines that disrupted the silence of the night. Another D-Wheel flew into midair and it was not the standard Le Esprit at all. It was pitch-black in colour, and comparably larger than most D-Wheels. Its head was tipped with a miniature statue of Horus’s head, the Ancient Egyptian God of the Sky; while its rear end was marked with 2 fixed protrusions shaped like eagle wings. Its 2 wheels were connected by something similar to claws. Its rider wore a helmet designed with similarity to the Sky God also, and he was indeed Ramut.

“Wow…you actually got a customised,” Chiming exclaimed.

“It’s called the Khemwar, meaning Great Black One,” he said, “and yours?”

“A 3-way mix-up of D-Wheels that I pride as the Rouge Bourdon,” Chiming said, “so let’s get this going before it gets too dark.”

“Alright, let’s get going!” Ramut yelled.

Both D-Wheels quickly took off and rode on the Turbo Duel Track for their destined duel. Both Chiming and Ramut quickly pressed a button on their dashboards to play a certain card.

“Field Spell Speed World Set On. Autopilot Standby.”

Ramut (LP: 4000) Chiming (LP: 4000)

Ramut (LP: 4000) Chiming (LP: 4000)

“Sorry for yelling at you back then,” said Ramut, “to make up for it, why not you take the first turn?”

“Fine then,” Chiming agreed as he drew, “I Summon the Fiend Roar Deity Urstos in Attack Mode1” (1500/200)

Suddenly, a shadowy creature appeared. It was essentially a Grim Reaper of sorts with wings of blackened feathers and a mass of grey hair.

“And I Set 2 face-down cards and end my turn,” he said.

“I draw,” Ramut declared and their Speed Counters rose. (1-1)

He then looked at his card; it was a Monster Card called Flamvell Baby.

“I Summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 4 in Attack Mode!” Ramut declared.

A portal opened and a burst of flames shot out. It formed into a plump black eagle, seemingly made of metal. (1600/1000)

“Horus. Why am I not surprised?” Chiming remarked sarcastically.

“I got that a lot already,” Ramut said, “and Horus will attack your Urstos.”

Horus screeched as black fire formed in its mouth.

“Activate Trap Card, Depth Amulet,” Chiming declared, “by discarding a card; I can negate an attack upon my monster.”

He then discarded a card, and Urstos was saved from the fire blast.

“Won’t let you just level up Horus to Level 8 that easily,” Chiming said, “and furthermore, my Urstos gains 400 Attack Points if I have only 2 cards or fewer.” (1900/200)

“You got lucky, I Set 2 face-downs and that’s that,” Ramut said.

Chiming rode towards the edge of the track and over his opponent’s Khemwar as he began to draw. (2-2)

“Now I Summon another one of its comrades, the Fiend Roar Deity Grimlo!” Chiming declared.

He played the card, and a new portal opened. It was a young-looking woman, in a black dress with black feathered wings. Her expression was anything but joy. (1700/1000)

“And my Urstos’ effect extends to every member of his kind,” Chiming said, (2100/1000) “Urstos, attack Horus the Black Flame Dragon!”

However, Ramut was perfectly calm as the cloaked monster approached the plump eagle, holding out a card.

“By discarding my Flamvell Baby, I am able to permanently increase my FIRE monster’s Attack by 400,” he explained.

He quickly discarded it, and a small creature of flames appeared in front of Horus and was absorbed into it. Horus then gained much invigoration and screeched louder. (2000/1000) In retaliation, it shot a burst of fire and the cloaked Urstos was ignited in it.

The attack was so noticeable that even General Mugabe and Lt. Colonel Godwin turned their attention to the duel itself.

“Hm…interesting match-up we’re having tonight…” Mugabe remarked.

Ramut (LP: 4000) Chiming (LP: 3600)

Ramut (LP: 4000) Chiming (LP: 3600)

“Since it still destroyed a monster, I can Special Summon its stronger LV 6 form in your End Phase,” Ramut said.

“Something…that I won’t let you,” Chiming cried, “I still got Grimlo and she’s strong enough to tackle your Horus while it’s still weakened.”

Grimlo then flew towards Horus and prepared to attack it.

“Activate Trap Card, Scale Mail,” Ramut declared, “this Trap will save my dragon indeed, but it loses 1000 Attack Points.”

Grimlo let out a deafening sonic screech upon Horus, but the attack did little to it. (1000/1000) However, that attack did make him lose a Speed Counter. (1-2)

Ramut (LP: 2900) Chiming (LP: 3600)

“Ok, I end my turn,” Chiming said.

“And about time too, now I can evolve my dragon,” Ramut said, “from Level 4…to Level 6!”

Suddenly, Horus glowed and it was engulfed in black flames. Soon the flames died down and the Dragon changed. It was larger for one, and looked far more draconic with an eagle beak. (2300/1600) After that, Ramut quickly drew, but his Khemwar was still lagging behind the Rouge Bourdon. (2-3)

“And now, Horus attacks your Deity now!” Ramut declared.

“Huh? Have you forgotten about Depth Amulet?” Chiming wondered, picking up a card in his hand.

“Oh no, I have something to freeze your Traps,” Ramut said, pressing a button, “I activate my own Trap Card, Trap Stun. This will negate all Traps for this turn.”

The card opened up and shot out a blast at Depth Amulet, freezing it in motion. There was then nothing more to stop the attack, and Horus burnt Grimlo without mercy.

Ramut (LP: 2900) Chiming (LP: 3400)

Ramut (LP: 2900) Chiming (LP: 3400)

“I Set a face-down and end my turn from here,” he said, “and then…he’ll evolve to his final Level 8, the strongest of them.”

A pillar of black fire erupted and engulfed Horus again. This time, Horus grew to become a mix between dragon and eagle. It roared loudly as it was formed to its current stage. (3000/1800)

“Wow…the Sky God of Horus…not many can stand to it,” Margarf mentioned.

“Now that I have achieved the nurturing of this powerful beast, you will have a hard time defeating him,” said Ramut.

“Draw,” Chiming said. (3-4)

“Horus LV 8…a powerful monster indeed…but in Turbo Duels, more emphasis is placed over Trap Cards…” Chiming thought.

“I Summon the Fiend Roar Deity Kushano in Defence Mode,” Chiming said as another fallen angelic figure appeared and covered itself, (1100/800) “…and end turn.”

“Already at your wit’s ends,” Ramut claimed as he drew. (4-5)

“Although it seemed almost too easy, but Depth Amulet’s still there to safeguard 2 more attacks,” Ramut thought, “…but I also know that once I end my turn, it is destroyed.”

“I Summon the Max Warrior in Attack Mode!” Ramut declared.

Suddenly, a Warrior appeared. It held a forked staff as his weapon, and had armour similar to cattle. (1800/800)

“Also, by removing the Flamvell Baby in my Graveyard from play, I can Special Summon the Inferno,” he continued.

The Flamvell Baby appeared again, as it vanished again. Soon, an even stronger flame was set ablaze and a demonic face appeared in this bonfire. Inside the ‘mouth’, there were several skulls seen inside. (1100/1900)

“If I attack like this, I’ll bound to strike him down…” he thought.

“Max Warrior, attack Kushano now!” Ramut declared, “And when this happens, he gains 400 Attack Points.”

The Max Warrior rushed out towards the defending Kushano, ready to pierce him with the spear. (2200/800)

“Activate Trap Card, Desperate Treasure!” Chiming cried, “I can only play this card should the total Attack of my monsters are inferior to that of all 3 of your monsters, which is the case here. So, I am able to draw 2 cards from my hand.”

He then drew 2 cards (Amorphous Tuner and Necro Gardna) and then discarded a card to use Depth Amulet. Max Warrior’s assault was completely sealed off.

“Since it didn’t destroy a monster, its Attack is still maintained,” Ramut said, (1800/800) “we’ll see how far you’re willing to go on protecting your monsters…Horus attacks Kushano now!”

This time round, Chiming didn’t discard a card. Instead, he removed one – Necro Gardna. The armoured guarding monster appeared and fended off the flames of Horus.

“Inferno, burn that little devil into the ground,” Ramut called and the living bonfire shot out a blast of fire at Kushano.

“No…these cards can’t be discarded yet,” he thought and Kushano was burnt away.

“And now my Inferno’s effect activates; after destroying a monster, I can inflict 1500 points as damage to you,” Ramut said.

Suddenly, the Inferno unleashed a powerful wave of fire at Chiming’s Rouge Bourdon and burnt it badly.

Ramut (LP: 2900) Chiming (LP: 1900)

“Ramut…is that your…test?” Margarf thought.

“Now I Set a face-down and end my turn,” he said, “and will is your protection.”

Indeed, Depth Amulet was destroyed. And then, Chiming drew his next card. (5-6)

“By removing Urstos and Girmlo from play, I can Special Summon the Soul of Purity and Light,” Chiming declared.

Both Urstos and Grimlo appeared before they entered into a portal of shining light, and the female phantom of peace appeared. (2000/1800)

“So those so-called ‘Fiends’ are LIGHT Monsters,” Ramut realised.

“You better believe it,” Chiming said, “I Normal Summon the Level 2 Tuner, the Amorphous Tuner.” (0/0)

The next Monster was nothing to be impressed about; it was merely a dark blob of slime always changing its shape.

“This guy is completely unique as a Tuner,” said Chiming, “as its effect allows me to remove a Tuner Monster in my Graveyard from play, and it will take its identity for the turn.”

He then took out his Kushano card from his Graveyard, and then the shapeless blob moulded into something similar to Kushano itself.

“Now I Tune the Level 6 Soul of Purity and Light with the Level 2 Amorphous Tuner taking the name of Fiend Roar Deity Kushano,” Chiming declared.

Amorphous Tuner dissolved into 2 rings, and encircled the Soul. It dissolved into 6 stars, and then majestic light shone upon the field.

“The Gates of Tartarus swing forth open. The fallen ones shall ascend again,” he chanted, “Synchro Summon! Arise again, Fiend Roar Deity Valkiris!”

A dark form loomed over the ever-moving D-Wheels. It was a fallen angel with leathers wings and shielded with armour of an infernal general. (2900/1700)

“And Valkiris shall attack your Inferno with Fallen Pressure!” Chiming cried.

Valkiris raised its two arms far apart, and a demonic circle was erected. From there, a glowing hand came out and crushed the Inferno as it was mere dust. (4-6)

Ramut (LP: 1100) Chiming (LP: 1900)

Ramut (LP: 1100) Chiming (LP: 1900)

“Next I use his special ability,” Chiming said, “by discarding a Fiend Monster; I can draw a new card.”

He discarded his Archfiend of Gilfer and then drew a card, Hate Buster. Suddenly, Gilfer reappeared and grappled Horus’ neck. (2500/2000)

“Just a measure to seal off the mighty Horus,” Chiming said, “I add a face-down to it and end turn.”

“Draw,” said Ramut. (5-7)

He then looked at the only one card on hand, and focused on his just-drawn Equip Shot.

“Ok, I Set two face-downs…” he said, then he glared at his foe.

“That’s all? I’ll give you more,” Chiming said, (6-8) “and now, Valkiris attacks your Max…”

“Activate Trap Card, Equip Shot,” Ramut declared, “this card here gives you back the Archfiend of Gilfer. I really appreciated it, but it is your monster after all.”

Horus roared as it struggled and Gilfer was forced out of the Black Flame Dragon and it clung onto the attacking Valkiris. (2400/1700)

“And your point is…” Chiming asked.

“Now my Horus and your Valkiris must do battle instead,” Ramut said.

“No…activate Trap Card,” Chiming countered.

He pressed the button on his dashboard, but nothing came up. He tried again and again, but it was all to no avail.

“Oh yah, once I play Equip Shot, you can’t play any other card to interfere,” Ramut mentioned.

So Valkiris had no other choice than to fly towards Horus, even if it were a death match. Horus spewed its black flames and burnt the general demon.

Ramut (LP: 1100) Chiming (LP: 1300)

Ramut (LP: 1100) Chiming (LP: 1300)

“Damn it, I Summon the Fiend Roar Deity Luri in Attack Mode then,” Chiming relented as he placed another card down.

Suddenly, a demonic cherub appeared and it grinned deviously. (200/400)

“End turn…” he then said.

“I draw,” Ramut said, (7-9) “you must be very much desperate that you went mad, I will just have to put you out of your misery. In fact, I won’t use my mightiest beast on you. Max Warrior, vanquish Luri now with Swift Rush!”

Max Warrior cried a war cry and charged in with his pitched forked staff, and striking it down fiercely in a series of blows. (2200/800)

“That’s it! Activate Trap Card!” Chiming cried and the Trap Card opened, “this is called Hate Buster, a powerful card indeed. The power of hatred shall destroy both Luri and your Max Warrior, and then you take damage equal to your Warrior’s Attack of 1800. End of story, you lose.”

“Oh by the Osiris’ name, whatever should I do?” Ramut sarcastically cried, “…oh I know…activate my Damage Polariser Trap Card.”

During Max Warrior’s attack, Luri broke into rage and literally exploded in its tiny fury. That explosion also took Max Warrior in it, and he was destroyed along. However, the blast was blocked off by a shield and both of them drew a card each.

“Looks like you have squirmed in resistance for long enough and Divinity has judged upon thee,” Ramut chanted, “Smite him down, my Horus with your Darkness Giga Flame!”

Horus let out a mighty screech and launched a blast of black flames at Chiming himself. The blast was so intense that his Rouge Bourdon was nearly destroyed by that blow.

“What savagery, truly tales spoken of the Mongol Hordes or the Ottoman Turks,” General Mugabe remarked.

“I can tell you that his ancestors perform such a duty of guardianship, and fought off the Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans, Mongols, British and the Axis,” Margarf mentioned.

“But why they would be duelling…that’s quite a mystery,” the General inquired.

“But Ramut…what is your intention here…your truest intention…” Margarf wondered.

After the duel, the Rouge Bourdon was rendered immobile and the Khemwar stopped by it. Ramut removed his helmet and looked at Chiming.

“Ok, I will give up my plan to let slip the tunnel in Nouvelle-Orleans,” Chiming said.

“I never set such conditions in the duel, this was merely a practice round and this will go down on the official records,” Ramut said as he looked up towards the towers of the Generals, “and our own higher-ups are our witnesses.”

“Then why…” Chiming cried.

“I hop you should be aware of staging an attempt to take them down is needed to make it convincing,” Ramut said, with his eyes glowing, “…or they could just send you back to Indochina…”

Liberty Tunnel, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

The Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans was a small city-state exclave bordered by Dixieland after independence supported mainly by France and Quebec. It was divided into Rims, with the Inner Rim as the centre of government and military administration and the Mid Rim set aside for refugees.

The Outer Rim would be split into 2 parts, the Outer Rim – Gaia and Outer Rim – Neptune. Outer Rim – Neptune was the seaport of Nouvelle-Orleans, where the Nouvelle-Orleans Shipyard resided over 500 warships from France, New England, Quebec and some from Vietnam and Maghreb Empire.

Likewise, Outer Rim – Gaia was the land frontier facing Louisiana and the rest of Dixieland. Due to the endless threats from the Confederate States Army, the military was stationed there to face the battle head-on. It was there where the French Foreign Legion along with various other armies stood guard – the gates of Liberty Tunnel, a free passage for freed men under prosecution.

“So everything’s according to plan,” Chiming asked, to which Ramut nodded.

“I’ll cover up as much as possible for you,” Ramut whispered, “but note that this may be dangerous if discovered by anyone, especially the Lt. Colonel or the Lord Protector himself.”

He then walked off inside his private tent to rest, but it was only shortly that Margarf Godwin showed up there.

“Ramut, I believe I had once told you not to engage those…deadly duels with others,” Margarf warned, “I didn’t request you to be sent to the French Polynesia for nothing.”

“I have no idea what you could be talking about,” Ramut replied.

“Then what’s with you and Chiming, I saw that duel in Corsica that night,” he said, “and the damage, it was a Shadow Duel…just like the one you put me through…”

“No, back then in Alexandria it was one. But not in Corsica,” Ramut claimed, “I have a bigger plan up here in store…for the one who defeated the Dark Synchro.”

“You couldn’t be saying that you wish to…” Margarf exclaimed.

“Not my wish, but the Lords of the Valley of the Kings have decreed for me to do so,” Ramut said, “this matter also affects us, the Gravekeepers too.”

During the 2060s, the “Decade of Balkanisation”, France held the distinction of not breaking up its vast territories unlike Communist China or the former United States. Corsican independence fronts were quickly crushed by the French Army. Since then, rebellions in the region were unknown.

Charleston, State of United Virginia, Confederate States of Dixieland

Charleston, the former capital of West Virginia before unification with its eastern neighbour, was currently a mere common city of the Confederacy and in the shadows of Richmond, the state capital or Albino, the federal capital.

Like most other parts of the Confederacy, racism was common throughout and freedom was largely suppressed. In an alley way hidden from most of the city’s view, there was something going on. A Negro male was being pummelled by a group of Caucasians, and the injuries were very bad indeed. One of them then grabbed a steel pipe in his hands and raised it.

“The wicked will be judged,” he said, “…and you will be baptised in blood…”

However, as he swung the pipe down, an unseen force bent it and he was pushed towards the side. A man in a cowboy hat and tattered cloak was seen behind him. During the confusion, the Negro fled the area quickly.

“Now now, don’t you be playing rough,” he said.

“And who are you? That jabroni is a threat to the Peace!” the Caucasian claimed.

“Hmm…know what, I give you no damn to that crap,” he said, taking off his cloak and revealed himself as Roger, “and should y’all, I challenge you, all of you, to…a duel.”

The gang was all laughing out loud to that statement, while the entire gang got their Disks ready.

“You’re going to regret messing with us,” he warned…

But after some minutes, the Caucasian and his gang was bombarded by missiles as a finishing blow of the duel. Roger was quite relaxed, and kept whistling to himself, as he walked and grabbed a gang member by the collar of his shirt.

“Ok, you all are so pathetic,” Roger said, “I haven’t lost a single Life Point throughout the whole duel, and it was consecutive without Life Point refill. Now you better give me the info or else…”

“What info, I dunno!” he cried.

“Like what’s this Church of Noah all about?” Roger demanded fiercely.

Seems they made it to Dixieland at last, a land of the South where non-Anglo-Americans aren’t the least bit welcomed at all. Roger would be suitable public face in this time, but what would be this “Church of Noah”? Also, that guy was uttering some religious stuff out. What could force out such influence? Let us find out more into the society of this standalone nation?

Road-Kaiser, Outskirts of Charleston, State of United Virginia, Confederate States of Dixieland

Lying outside the urban reaches of Charleston, the Road-Kaiser was parked there and covered by natural foliage and its colouring. Roger was casually walking around as he tapped a card onto the door of the vehicle. The door slid open and he walked inside and into the interior of the Road-Kaiser where the others awaited.

“Roger, you’re back finally,” Victoria said, “so how was Charleston?”

“Well I spent the morning strolling around and coming across the Church of Noah,” he said, “though I lived here once, I don’t clearly recall all the details of the life here. But the Church of Noah is a tool of the Confederate States government for its pogroms against other races, a church that preaches on the superiority of the Whites…or rather the Americans.”

At this statement, Rahoul was not the least bit calm at all and grabbed Roger by his clothes.

“Where’s that Church based at?” he inquired.

“Calm down here,” Taici pleaded, pulling Rahoul back at the same time.

“I also managed to ask the locals here and got it too,” Roger said, “the Church of Noah was called based on the stories surrounding Noah and his 3 sons, and its leader’s known as the Noah or the Bishop of Richmond, where Virginia’s capital is.”

Upon hearing that, Rahoul got on the front wheel and started the Road-Kaiser up.

“You sure got quite worked up here,” Roger claimed.

“Shut up, this is personal,” Rahoul said, “from my own experience, religion and the state are never good to mix.”

Church of Noah, Richmond, State of United Virginia, Confederate States of Dixieland

Richmond was highly regarded throughout this 12-state confederacy as the centre of the First Confederacy and the current state capital of United Virginia. However, it was not the federal capital due to dangers of being too near to New England’s Maryland Province and that honour went to Albino of Florida.

However, Richmond founded the basis for the current main religion for the Confederacy since its limiting of the outside world, the Church of Noah. Originally a deviation of Orthodox Christianity, the government would exploit this church’s deviation for its anti-racial approach to its people and rendered it the only legalised church of the state. The Church of Noah would be ruled by the Noah, AKA the Bishop of Richmond. The current Noah would be Noah Peter of Richmond, a 47-year old man of Virginia.

In a typical afternoon during a preaching from the church’s service, hundreds of church-goers would be seated in the grounds. The Noah was preaching over the masses of people around.

“So it is our duty to train the barbarians to serve us for the greater good,” the Noah declared, “and thus our government has done so to improve our welfare and that of the barbarians.”

After his final statement, the church-goers all left the holy grounds and busy in their discussions. However, Rahoul was dressed in a thick trenchcoat and a cowboy hat similar to Roger’s, standing over the Church in deep thought.

“Never…never…religion is a bane to people,” he thought.

He then trailed through the crowds and walked into the Church. The Noah was keeping away most of his books when this stranger came in.

“Young traveller, what may I guide you in?” asked the Noah.

“Guidance…yah,” he laughed, taking off his coat and hat, “perhaps you can say why you use religion for politics?”

Streets of Richmond, State of United Virginia, Confederate States of Dixieland

Meanwhile in the Road-Kaiser, it was driving quickly along the crowded streets of Richmond. Roger was operating the vehicle since Rahoul dashing out when arriving in Richmond area.

“What came over the guy?” he wondered, “never seen him that tensed up before, something’s wrong.”

“Yah…” Victoria agreed, scanning through Rahoul’s profile, “it says that Rahoul was among the war children after the Second Islamic Rebellion of Iran, one of the bloodiest religious conflicts of the Islamic world.”

“Maybe he was too angry at how religion is exploited and was traumatised,” Taici suggested.

“Don’t say that he went out to personally challenge the Bishop of Richmond himself!” Roger exclaimed, “The Noah was known as a powerful duellist himself.”

14:18, 14 May 2092

Church of Noah, Richmond, State of United Virginia, Confederate States of Dixieland

Back in the Church hall, Rahoul was locked in a deep stare with Noah Peter, the Bishop of Richmond who was well calm in this.

“Child of Persia, you surprise me,” the Noah laughed, “Surely the Dixies have ascended the heights of leadership to the rest of the world; a sheer contrast to your world; locked in a struggle between the backward Islam and the improper way of the West.”

“It’s people like you that I can’t stand at all,” Rahoul cried, “I’m nothing like those peoples…brutes who ruined thousands of families there…”

“Ah you admitted it,” the Noah said, “the Sacred Text describes the Curse of Noah that was inflicted to the unfaithful Ham, while Japheth was blest by him. Surely this is a testimony to the birthright for the Dixies to take up the place as leaders of the world and we are Messiah of these troubled times, who shall lead mankind to its salvation and…”

“Shut up all that crap!” Rahoul cried.

“A bit on the misguided side, are you,” the Noah mused, “but I got a good remedy for it.”

He tapped a hidden button under his podium for his books and it slid open. Underneath it, there was a Duel Disk. It was snow-white and accented with gold, with the overall design as a Christian cross. Rahoul would know that as a standard type for Christian duellists.

“I shall enlighten thee to the light,” he declared.

“And I shall fend off your blind faith,” Rahoul declared as he took out his own Duel Disk from his coat, something he took off his Nagini.

“In the House of God, His representative the Noah and Bishop of Richmond shall begin,” he proclaimed as he drew.

“As if you can truly represent God,” Rahoul doubted.

“Anyways I Set a monster face-down and end my turn,” he said, and a face-down monster appeared.

“Don’t have bite I see,” Rahoul said, drawing his card, “but this guy has quite a nasty one; I Summon the Spear Serpent in Attack Mode.”

He played the card, and a snake appeared. It was covered in green scales with a cobra hood, and its head was tipped like a jousting lance. (1800/400)

“Alas my point, you use cards that represent the Devil,” the Noah lamented.

“Attack that monster, my Serpent,” Rahoul declared, “and my Serpent have a trampling effect on your monster by the way.”

The Spear Serpent then slid its head back for a moment, and quickly struck at the hidden monster. It then lifted up and revealed to be a giant green insect with wings, destroyed upon contact. (1400/900)

Noah Peter (LP: 3100) Rahoul (LP: 4000)

“You had destroyed my Flying Kamakiri 1 and its sacrifice will not be in vain,” the Noah proclaimed, “for his demise triggered another comrade of his tribe to appear.”

Suddenly, a great whirlwind swept across the inner halls of the Church and a young blond man appeared with birds flying around the whirlwind, confused by the winds. (1500/1600)

“The Whirlwind Prodigy,” Rahoul exclaimed, “you’re using a WIND Deck of some kind.”

“A WIND Deck of a specific type, if you must know,” Noah Peter said, “now, proceed if you must.”

“Alright, a face-down card it is,” Rahoul said.

“I draw,” the Noah drew his card, “I Release my Whirlwind Prodigy for my ultimate monster.”

The surrounding storm winds died down as the Whirlwind Prodigy vanished into a globe of light. Suddenly, an even greater hurricane brewed up and a new figure appeared. It was a giant green bird, towering the church’s high walls and a small crown rested upon its head. (2700/1000)

“Brace yourself for the wrath of…Simorgh, Bird of Divinity!” the Noah declared, “and he’ll attack your veil beast. Blow, Windstorm of Divinity!”

Simorgh let out a loud craw and flapped its large spanning wings to stir up a windstorm. That storm blew the Spear Serpent away and destroyed it easily.

Noah Peter (LP: 3100) Rahoul (LP: 3100)

“I activate the Trap Card, Snake Whistle,” Rahoul cried as the card opened, “and with this, I Summon a Reptile Monster like my Black Mamba.” (1300/1000)

Suddenly, a high-pitch cry echoed the church’s halls and another black snake appeared from the darkness. It hissed fiercely at its opponent, and wrapped around Simorgh and forced it to defend.

“And when it is Normal or Special Summoned, I can move your monster’s Battle Position,” said Rahoul.

“I place 2 face-down cards on the field and end my turn,” the Noah said, “and Simorgh’s effect activates now…inflicting both of us…1000 points of Damage.”

Simorgh flapped its mighty wings yet again, and this one was felt by everyone around. Rahoul was braving through the storm, while Peter remained safely behind the protection of his 2 face-down cards.

Noah Peter (LP: 3100) Rahoul (LP: 2100)

Noah Peter (LP: 3100) Rahoul (LP: 2100)

“Then why you are still at 3100 points?” Rahoul cried.

“We are protected by our own Spell and Trap Cards, two is needed to completely suppress the damage,” Noah Peter said.

Rahoul then drew his next card, and looked at it.

“I Summon the Lamia in Attack Mode as well,” Rahoul declared.

Suddenly, a humanoid serpent appeared and she hissed along. (1300/1500)

“And I attack your Simorgh while it is still in Defence Mode,” Rahoul said as Black Mamba leaned forward.

“Activate now, Divine Roar!” the Noah declared as a Trap Card which showed the Red Dragon Archfiend with its mouth opened, “if your monster who declares an attack upon is of a lower Level than my monster, I can have it destroyed.”

Suddenly, Simorgh let out a caw and Black Mamba was blown back by the counterstrike, and destroyed.

“I Set a face-down,” Rahoul continued, “and play the Swamp of the Dragon Snake Spell Card.”

Another Spell Card appeared, displaying a snake swimming over a swampy moat.

“Now I end my turn, so let your Simorgh play out its effect,” Rahoul dared.

Simorgh cawed and flapped its wings again, but Rahoul was cleverly guarded by his cards. However, only one card was shielding Noah Peter and he succumbed to the attack.

Noah Peter (LP: 2600) Rahoul (LP: 2100)

“Also, the Swamp of the Dragon Snake allows me to Special Summon a Reptile Monster…to your side of the field;” said Rahoul, “please take good care of it.”

With that, a small snake with razor-sharp fangs popped out. (100/200) And then, the Noah drew his card…and the viper suddenly bit its master.

Noah Peter (LP: 2100) Rahoul (LP: 2100)

“My Poisonous Viper can bite out 500 Life Points from its owner during the Standby Phase,” Rahoul admitted, “and I play the Mask of Restrict Trap Card to further seal all chances of Releasing my Viper.”

“Such power…it is the gift the Devil has granted thee,” the Noah assumed, “I shalt crush the vile powers of ye.”

Suddenly, Simorgh moved up to its regular offensive stance with the divine bird’s wings spread out wide.

“And I equip my Bird of Divinity with the Glory Shield,” the Noah declared.

Suddenly, Simorgh’s wings were covered by a shining golden shield decorated with jewels.

“I attack your vile serpent with my Simorgh now,” he said.

Simorgh launched another windstorm attack and it blew up the Lamia, destroying it too.

Noah Peter (LP: 2100) Rahoul (LP: 700)

“And now, once my Bird of Divinity has inflicted damage upon thee, Glory Shield shall shine,” the Noah said, “and destroys your Spell or Trap Card…like the Mask of Restrict.”

Suddenly, the Glory Shield on Simorgh’s wings glowed and destroyed the Mask of Restrict.

“And with that out of the way, I may Release the Viper of Poisons,” the Noah said, “Appear before me, Divine Fowl King Alector!”

Soon, the Poisonous Viper turned into a globe of light…and an armoured avian bird man appeared. He was covered in white armour with red wings. (2400/2000)

Just then, the Church doors were forced open by a powerful force and Victoria, Roger and Taici all rushed towards the duel.

“So you were here after all,” Roger said, “don’t run off like a kid like that.”

“When I was a kid, yes…that was when the Second Islamic Rebellion happened,” Rahoul said, “…the fate where in my whole life would turn upside-down…you see, Muslims were recruited from all over the Islamic World including my own father…”

“Father, where are you going?” the young Rahoul asked.

“Rahoul, I am going to fulfil the mission of God and liberate our home from those Eurasian tyrants,” his father said, patting on his son’s shoulders, “it’s called a Jihad, a duty that all of us must fulfil to save our traditions.”

“All of us?” Rahoul wondered.

“When you’re older, you’ll understand this better,” the father said, “ok, I will be going now. Await for my good news of a free Iran, my son.”

“And what happened in the end?” Taici asked.

Rahoul was giggling in his own breath, and pointed out his index finger.

“Just one, one week after he left,” Rahoul said, “and they came…”

Rahoul was playing in his room when he heard something going on in the main room. The young Rahoul saw his mother crying bitterly and 2 other Iranian militants whom Rahoul recalled as people who escorted his father out that day, standing out near her. On a table, there was a box full of his father’s possessions.

“Mom…” Rahoul asked, approaching towards them.

“Young Rahoul, is it?” said one of the militants, “I am Khairuz al-Sanchez of the United Islamic Holy Army. I am most regretful of your father’s demise by the Eurasian military during the Battle of West Bank. He had sacrificed a lot for the sake of our ways…and we can’t locate his remnants for a proper burial.”

“You…don’t you try to get Rahoul involved in this?” his mother shouted, only to be slapped across the face by al-Sanchez.

“Woman, this is not your place to speak against matters of the Faith,” al-Sanchez said, “young Rahoul, you should be avenging your father’s death. Join us and together, we shall fulfil the dream your father and thousand others have perished to achieve.”

However, Rahoul’s mother won’t let the militants get their way and quickly carried Rahoul away. Angered, al-Sanchez and his aide took out their guns and fired at them.

“And my mother died of bleeding due to the gunshots,” Rahoul said, “later on; I was displaced to an orphanage funded by the Church of Constantinople. The rest would be history then, but from it, I realised that religion is merely a cost in vanity and a corrupted ideal altogether.”

“Ah, but you had seen a side of the world and perfectly aware of its immorality,” the Noah said, “once again, I extend my hand to you; one who sees the weakness of the world, to join me and the perfect communion of the Church of Noah. If you would just surrender now…”

“No, don’t listen to his lies!” Roger cried.

However, Rahoul was near placing his hand over the top of his deck. But then, he never put it down.

“It’ll be the End Times before I believe in this mumbo-jumbo!” Rahoul declared, “And the duel continues!”

“Very well,” the Noah said, “if you wish judgment at your end, then let it be so. I Set one more face-down and end my turn, and Simorgh’s effect is therefore triggered.”

Once again, Simorgh flapped its large wings. While Noah Peter was shielded well by his Set cards, Rahoul had to face a blow even with his Swamp of the Dragon Snake.

Noah Peter (LP: 2100) Rahoul (LP: 200)

After that, Rahoul made his draw quickly and looked into his hand. He slid one in, and a Spell Card of some dinosaur bones appeared.

“I play the Akashic Records Spell Card, allowing me two new cards,” Rahoul said.

He then drew out those 2 cards, and looked at them, They were Hallowed Life Barrier and Reptiless Gorgon.

“The Akashic Records is known to the Hindus as the source of all that exists, hence removing those cards from play if any of them were used before,” Taici said.

“And luckily for me, these two are never used before so far,” Rahoul said, “I Summon this creature here.”

Suddenly, a new snake-like creature crept from the shadows. It had the form of a fiendish woman at its top, but the torso of a snake below. (1400/1400)

“Meet my Reptiless Gorgon,” he said, “and I Set a face-down and end my turn…and this is when two things happen.”

Suddenly, a second Poisonous Viper appeared next to Noah Peter and Simorgh stirred up a new storm. However, both of them were covered and avoided the damage to come. With that, Noah Peter drew out his card.

“Approaching your Standby Phase, you shall take damage again,” Rahoul said.

“No I shan’t!” the Noah cried, “Activate Trap Card, Divine Wrath!”

He then discarded his Sipheed card and a lightning bolt struck down and destroyed the Poisonous Viper before having a chance to lung at the Noah.

“And now, I was about to end you for good,” he said, “Alector attacks you now.”

“Activate Hallowed Life Barrier,” Rahoul exclaimed, while discarding a second Black Mamba, “now all the damage dealt to me this turn is null.”

As Alector attacked Rahoul with its blade, it might have destroyed the Gorgon. However, Rahoul was blocked off by a veil.

“Very well, it seems that my attacks do nothing to thee,” the Noah lamented.

“But it did do something alright…just look at your Fowl King,” Rahoul said.

As they looked on to Alector, its armour was turning duller. Soon, it looked to be encased in stone. (0/2000)

“What sort of spell you had enchanted upon my Divine King?” he exclaimed.

“By attacking my Reptiless Gorgon, it unleashed its curse on you,” Rahoul explained, “therefore losing all its Attack Points and unable to move to defend.”

“It would seem that he doesn’t know too much of his own cards…” Victoria thought, “he could well use Alector’s effect and negate Gorgon’s effect…it’s his loss still.”

“You…you fiend…curse you,” he said, “Then, a face-down card and end my turn I shall.”

For another time, Simorgh stirred up the winds. However, both players were well-defended from it. And then, Rahoul drew out his next card.

“Now I can Summon my ultimate Beast to the field,” Rahoul said.

“Huh, what Ultimate Beast?” Roger wondered.

“But I must remove all Reptiles on the field and in the Graveyard from play to do so,” he continued while the cards slid out one by one.

Suddenly, a burst of dark matter erupted upon the field. Several menacing eyes gazed through the darkness and the darkness lifted off. What was seen was a titanic serpent with at least seven heads of malicious looks. (?/?)

“’Tis the Devil’s Dragon…” the Noah exclaimed.

“Indeed, it’s called the Evil Dragon Ananta,” Rahoul agreed, “and it gains 600 points for every Reptile removed from play. So let us see…there were two Poisonous Vipers, a Reptiless Gorgon, Spear Serpent, Lamia…and two Black Mambas…”

With that, the seven-headed serpent let out an evil roar. (4200/4200)

“And now, attack Alector the Divine Fowl King with Ultimate Venom Blast!” Rahoul declared.

“Activate Trap Card, Negate Attack!” the Noah declared.

Ananta spewed its deadly venom onto the petrified monster, but it was blocked off from the venom by a barrier.

“Lucky guy,” ahoul said, “but not for long…I end my turn now.”

“Ha, you lose then,” cried the Noah, “for my Simorgh’s effect shall damage you for 500 Life Points, which is more than what you have.”

“My turn still…and therefore my effects go off first,” Rahoul said, “my Evil Dragon secretes a venom so powerful that it can destroy any card during each of my End Phase…and I destroy your Simorgh.”

With that, Ananta sprayed its venom over Simorgh. Despite its size, Simorgh was burnt by it and shattered into pixels soon. The equipped Glory Shield was similarly destroyed as well. Also, the third Poisonous Viper was Summoned to the Noah’s side as he drew…and it bit him again.

Noah Peter (LP: 1100) Rahoul (LP: 200)

He then looked at the card he drew…and his eyes widened in shock in his only one card left.

“This monster now…” he thought, “every time I drew it since becoming the Noah here…it never do me good once…”

“End…turn,” he said with his head downcast.

Rahoul then wasted no time and quickly drew out his next card. He then looked at it, smiling on it.

“Attack his Alector now and end this duel,” Rahoul said.

Ananta fired a blast of venom from all its mouths and it corroded away the petrified state of Alector. The attack had also forced the Noah flying backwards.

As Victoria went over to see the fallen Noah, her eyes glowed to check for how the Noah was.

“He’s still alive, just a bit worn out,” she said, “but…”

She then opened up the eye lid of his right eyes, and they were blank white.

“Yikes! A zombie!” exclaimed Roger.

“I repeat, he is living,” Victoria said with ignorance, “just that his irises are moving at a rate too fast for our eyes to see. He’s now in a state called REM sleep…or dreaming…”

Noah Peter found himself within a forest covered by mists and fogs; they were so thick that it would be impossible to see anything from within. Only a single source of light was in front of him, but the Noah soon realised its identity with the glance on those pure white eagle wings.

“Why…when I drew you out, you would never help me win…” he asked, “Before, you would always ensure my victory.”

At first, there was nothing but silence. Soon, the entity revealed its face, covered by the intense light it created. It was accompanied by another figure, a man in Old Confederates military clothes.

“Bring the charter of our Freeland back to the People,” the man said, “and guide the People justly…”

Suddenly, the Noah cried and awakened from his daydream. He then saw that he was still in his Church, the foreign visitors were gone and that his fellow pastors were looking onto him.

“Oh…have you seen a Persian fella around?” he asked.

“No, your Excellency,” a pastor said, “why would you say such thing?”

“…Nothing at all…it has been a long day and you all better be going now,” the Noah said, getting up.

“Farewell, Mr. Peter Robert Lee,” the pastors greeted as they left the Church themselves.

The Noah knelt down before the Church Altar, bearing the Christian Cross of the crucified Jesus Christ. He then looked at his deck, and took particular notice to a card that he last got.

“The proper charter…what could it be?” he wondered, “Well, this is my redemption for my sins for hearsay...but those people came from nowhere…was it all divine revelation?”

Searching Category: Nations and Factions…File Located: Church of Noah

Official Name: Orthodox Church of St. Noah the Pure One

Type: sui generis heterodox Orthodox Christian deviation

Recognition:

-Unrecognised by the International Committee of Abrahamic Religions, Bishop of Canterbury, Archbishop of the Great Salt Lake, Pope of Rome, Council of Roman Catholic Cardinals, Patriarch of Constantinople among others…

-Recognised by the Lord-Saviour of Sung-Taiping Heavenly State

Year of Founding: 2063

Distribution: One state (Confederate States of Dixieland)

Headquarters: Richmond, Virginia

Head of Church: Noah Peter Robert Lee, Bishop of Richmond (2063-present)

After the founding of Dixieland, it has declared a state of complete isolation from most of the world, only officials of the government able to go overseas. A nasty side-effect would be the lack of proper religion since boycotting all other forms of religion as foreign and inferior.

The end-result would call for the construction of the Church of Noah, a special state-funded deviation of Orthodox Christianity aimed towards racist ideals of the government to convince the people of their ways. Orthodox Christian Peter Robert Lee, a descendant of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, was chosen as its leader, the Noah and Bishop of Richmond.

However, despite the stability of the Church, it was only due to government funding, requisition of non-Caucasian American property by government and “generous” donations from wealthy White aristocrats. Due to its unorthodox beliefs, it was heavily rejected by other Christian organisations for producing heretic corrupted teachings. There are also frequent rebellions by Christian terrorist organisations due to this, the most famous being the Orthodoxy Crusaders.

Only the Sung-Taiping Lord-Saviour was known to extend its recognition towards the deviation, mainly due to its status as an unwelcomed deviation of Christianity and an isolate of the Sinosphere.

Note: Sung-Taiping Heavenly State is a small weak independent nation in Southern China as a self-proclaimed continuation of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. It practises the religion deviation called Hongism, named after the leader of the Taiping Rebellion Hong Xuiquan; a religion based on alternate Christianity and the laws of the old Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.
Moving back onto another side of Dixieland, another tale unfolds. Elise and Vladimir must venture into the Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans for their possibly only remaining chance to get to the action, but someone had also plotted a trap for them. Next on Yu-Gi-Oh NAPEU – Ch 19 – Tunnel of Traps! There could only be one chance, and with absolutely no mess-ups.

and he’ll attack your veil beast.

Think you mean vile.

Intriguing idea for the Noah's deck... And further emphasizes a point of something I was considering.

...But enough of that. Good chapter. I have to ask though. These arcs... Are they connected? Is this all going to combine into a master plan?

You can say that the arcs will link into a grand master plan by someone in my earlier fic, and Geis and Alejandro are unknowing pawn to this entity

Tr to assume what that card could be...the Noah will be dueling again to let you know, I wanted to expand more on him for this arc.

Haven't watched it yet, but plan to during the holidays in June maybe...and religious fanatics or religion abusers flock the streets since ancient times.

I pity the religion founders here. (Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad)

Ramut’s Tent, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

It was evening in the Western Hemisphere, specifically Nouvelle-Orleans, a city-state under protection. Inside Ramut’s own tent, he calmly mediated with his top bare. In front of him, there were three decks placed in front of him. Suddenly, a holo-screen in front of him popped up. It showed the image of a group of six figures dressed in clothing that suggested of Ancient Egypt.

“Yes, Lords of the Valley,” Ramut greeted.

“Ramut Ishtar, hear the demands of Horus the Sky God,” one of them said, “today is…”

“It should be night there,” said another figure.

“Either way, it is the best time to strike and the one who defeated the Dark Synchro will be tested for his skills,” the first Lord said, “is that understood?”

“Yes, and fate demands a deck to chosen for this,” Ramut said.

He reached his hand out to grab one of the three decks lying on the floor, looking at what he got. Among the first few cards of the deck, he saw a Monster Card with an orange border.

“Anubis, the god of death…” Ramut spoke…

He then looked outside his tent and saw a shape descending upon the area. Ramut gave off a chuckle and put on his clothes, walking outside.

00000000000000000000

So it seems that Ramut is planning something here for sure with those so-called Lords. From the chapter before the previous one, we learnt that Ramut is with the Gravekeepers, a secret organisation which serves a purpose for the past three thousand years or so. Now, something big is coming and it called the Gravekeepers to stand and take it upon themselves. But what would it entail and how does Elise fit in with all this?

Military Coalition Camp, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

To keep a more permanent presence in the outer regions of Nouvelle-Orleans, the military coalition of La Francophoine would establish a camp there for lookout purposes. The different camps were based on the nation or organisations they originated, identified by the flag itself.

A carrier craft descended on the military grounds, it had the flag of Quebec on it. Out of it, a small jeep and the Ouroborus moved out of the craft. From the opening, Ali was there to send them off.

“Be careful this time and we won’t be around to save your asses!” Ali yelled.

“Worry your own first, you’re the one flying bluntly into unwelcomed territory,” Elise countered.

“Hey, the cloaking device I got from Big Dick is working so well,” Ali claimed, “I can even cloak this as a Confederates aircraft if I wanted to.”

“Which you won’t unless you like to see your creations crushed by Fiend Dragons,” Elise said.

“Fine fine, we’ll be leaving then,” he said, returning to his ship and it flew off.

“I already sent a coded message to Chiming of our arrival,” Vladimir said, who’s on the jeep, “that new ship, the Atlas, is quite great to say the truth.”

“Maybe…” she said.

Suddenly, the roaring of engines was heard over the short distance away. The Rouge Bourdon quickly stopped by the duo vehicles there and Chiming took off his helmet to see them.

“Never expected to see you two at a time like this,” Chiming said, “anyway, I saw the news and decided to help a long-time friend out.”

He then pointed over to the North.

“Over there, there is a tunnel called Liberty Tunnel, which links Nouvelle-Orleans with Louisiana,” Chiming explained, “you could use it to get to Dixieland fast.”

“But…if we got caught…then you’ll be in…” Vladimir realised.

“Deep trouble and a possible deporting back to Indochina, I know,” Chiming admitted, “and yet, here I am trying to risk my career just to help you. I must admit that friendship works in strange ways. So go now before someone catches you.”

“Got that, let’s go now Elise,” Vladimir said as he started up his jeep.

Soon, both the jeep and the Ouroborus took off towards the North, where the Liberty Tunnel would be at. Chiming then looked out to them, and Ramut appeared on his dashboard.

“So, have they left for Liberty Tunnel yet?” he asked.

“Yah, you can get them now,” Chiming said.

Liberty Tunnel, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

The Liberty Tunnel was once a frequent escape route for refugees fleeing to Nouvelle-Orleans from Louisiana; however it also drew in the Confederate State Army to take out the rebels there. To save the city-state, it was within best interests to seal off that pathway…

However, on this very night, two vehicles would be driving into the tunnel forbidden long ago…and something would be there to pursue them…

The jeep and the Ouroborus were within range of the Liberty Tunnel, almost moving inside it in due time. However, the Ouroborus’ warning system got something on.

“Warning. Pursuing D-Wheel detected.”

“Huh? What could it be?” Elise wondered, turning behind and she saw the Khemwar with Ramut riding on it.

“Please halt vehicles!” Ramut called, “this is Major Ramut Ishtar of the French Foreign Legion, demanding you to stop now!”

“Well…you got to make us then,” Elise dared.

Ramut was clam and pressed a button on his dashboard. Soon, the Speed World Card appeared on both Elise’s and Ramut’s dashboards, sending them into the Speed World just as they entered the tunnel.

Ramut (LP: 4000) Elise (LP: 4000)

“Expected that already," Elise said, drawing out 5 cards, “so let’s go now!”

With that, she drew her sixth card and added it to her hand.

“Ok, I Summon the Command Knight in Defence Mode,” she said.

In a burst of flaring flames, the Command Knight appeared and pulled out her blade to defend herself. (1200/1900)

“You put her in Defence to protect her for later use,” Vladimir assumed.

“And I Set a face-down, end turn,” she continued.

And then, Ramut drew out his card. (1-1)

“Ok, then I Set a face-down monster to protect me first,” Ramut said and a face-down monster appeared, “and you can go on now.”

“Not much of a good hand, I see,” Elise assumed as she drew, (2-2) “I Summon the Obnoxious Celtic Guard in Attack Mode!” (1400/1200)

With that, an elf-like warrior in green armour and a dramatic cape appeared and pulled out his own sword.

“And I move Command Knight to Attack Mode,” Elise continued as her Command Knight stood up, “I hope you know that Command Knight gives 400 points to all my Warrior Monsters.”

Suddenly, both Command Knight and the Celtic Guard glowed with a flaring energy. (1600/1900, 1800/1200)

“And since I had Normal Summoned this turn…” Elise said, “…I can Special Summon…this monster…”

Suddenly, a new monster appeared. It looked like an outdated machine engine with a scarf around its neck. (0/0)

“And that’s my Turbo Booster,” she said, “and my Command Knight will attack your monster now.”

The Command Knight lunged at the hidden monster with her burning sword, but it flipped up to show a mummy. It was wrapped by rotting red bandages showing signs of aging and a golden piece as his right arm. (1000/1800) Command Knight was unable to destroy it at all.

“That’s my Poison Mummy, and the Egyptians had wrapped him so well that he could stand the test of time,” Ramut claimed, “and it is cursed with a deadly poison when touched, inflicting 500 points as damage to you.”

Red dust from the Poison Mummy flew out of his bandages and went into Elise herself.

Ramut (LP: 4000) Elise (LP: 3300)

Ramut (LP: 4000) Elise (LP: 3300)

“Damn it, she lost Life Points this fast,” Vladimir claimed.

“Good thing I got my Turbo Booster out here,” Elise said, “because by Releasing it, I can destroy one monster that I had battled. Your Poison Mummy might have withstood the first attack, but not this second one. Fire away!”

The Turbo Booster aimed itself towards the Poison Mummy and its engines began to rumble. They then blasted off and collided into the Zombie in an explosion.

“And now, my Obnoxious Celtic Guard takes me to the lead with his attack,” Elise said.

The Celtic swordsman charged into battle and stabbed its sword at the hull of the Khemwar. (1-2)

Ramut (LP: 2200) Elise (LP: 3300)

Ramut (LP: 2200) Elise (LP: 3300)

“Incredible, you have depleted nearly half of my Life Points at once,” Ramut admitted, “but you have seen nothing yet, I assure you.”

“Then I end my turn and see what you have in mind,” Elise said sarcastically.

Ramut was either unaware of Western sarcasms or too focused in the duel. Overall, he still simply preferred to draw on. (2-3)

“I start off with the Pyramid Turtle in Defence Mode,” he said.

He then played the card, and a turtle appeared. It was brown in skin tone, but bore odd features to it. It donned the headdress of an Egyptian Pharaoh, and a massive pyramid was its shell. (1200/1400)

“With 2 Speed Counters, I play the Speed Spell – Curse of Fate!” Ramut continued.

The card appeared, and darkness engulfed Pyramid Turtle. It then morphed into 2 chains and the Turtle itself seemed more feral.

“The two chains you see represent Cursed Counters bound onto my monster,” Ramut explained, “and by removing one of them, I can regain Life Points, half the Attack of Pyramid Turtle.”

One of the chains binding the Pyramid Turtle began to crack and soon shattered into dark mist. The dark mist then flew into the Khemwar.

Ramut (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 3300)

Ramut (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 3300)

“However the monster in question cannot attack if I use this effect, not that it’s a problem to me at all,” Ramut said, “so I end my turn with 3 face-down cards.”

“Draw,” Elise said, (3-4) “I rally up my forces with Gearfried the Iron Knight in Attack Mode.”

Another portal opened up in midair, and a knightly figure appeared. It was fully covered in complete iron armour that burnt on with power from his ally. (1800/1600~2200/1600)

“And with these 3 monsters, I can quickly finish you off,” Elise said, “My Command Knight will make quick work of your Turtle.”

“Activate Trap Card, the Eye of Wdjat,” Ramut declared.

The Command Knight charged in towards the Pyramid Turtle, but a strange symbol of an eye appeared on her forehead. Her eyes darkened, she turned away from the Pyramid Turtle and charged at Gearfried instead to meet her own destruction. (1800/1600, 1400/1200)

Ramut (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 2700)

“How the heck did it attack Gearfried in the first place?” Vladimir wondered.

“The Eye of Wdjat did the trick of course,” Ramut explained, “it is a symbol of domination of the Mind, Body and Soul by the Egyptian priests and this had befallen your Command Knight. Now it heeded my call to attack another monster, that being its own ally.”

“Well, your Turtle’s still not much Defence worth and Gearfried can crack it up,” Elise said.

Gearfried then cracked the pyramid shell of the Pyramid Turtle and destroyed it. However, a second Pyramid Turtle appeared in Defence Mode. (1200/1400)

“Damn it, my Obnoxious Celtic Guard’s too weak to deal with your Turtles,” Elise said, “I Set another face-down and end my turn.”

“And as such, I draw,” Ramut said, (4-5) “I Release my second Pyramid Turtle in order to Advance Summon…the End of Anubis!”

Suddenly, the shelled Pyramid Turtle turned into a multicoloured globe of light, and then a demonic shape peered from it. It was a gigantic demonic jackal beast with feral appearances. (2500/0)

“Now he attacks your Celtic Guard with Underworld Claw!” he declared.

The empowered End of Anubis growled with power as it jumped up on the Celtic Guard. He might have fended off the attack, but the shockwave affected Elise. (4-4)

Ramut (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 1600)

Ramut (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 1600)

“Hello, my Celtic Guard can’t be faltered by strong monsters like yours,” Elise mentioned.

“I see…what if I have something that fits the criteria perfectly,” Ramut said, “I thought of using it as a Release Monster if you actually got rid of my Pyramid Turtles. But, I activate my Trap Card now.”

Suddenly, his Trap Card opened up. A dark mist covered the length of the tunnel. As the mist cleared away, it was shown that a new monster had shown up. It was an ugly monster, a chimera of a snake and man. It had black scaly skin, and held a sword on one hand and a snake-painted shield on the other. It had two distinct heads,; one a humanoid head and the other a serpentine one. (1600/1800)

“A Trap Monster?!” exclaimed Vladimir.

“The Embodiment of Apophis looks weak enough, and he’ll attack your Celtic Guard and destroy it too,” Ramut said.

The Embodiment hissed at the Celtic Guard as it vanished. Without warning, it reappeared…behind the Celtic Guard and launched an ambush on it. With one slash, it was destroyed.

Ramut (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 1400)

Ramut (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 1400)

“Oh no, only half the Life Points left…” Vladimir claimed, “This duel may not be in too much favour of Elise…”

“Alright, you better be giving me your absolute best shot,” Ramut dared, “and my End of Anubis’ effect seals off any card that works in the Graveyard or targeting a card in the Graveyard.”

“Then my face-down is now worthless…” Elise thought, looking at her face-down.

18:39, 15 May 2092

Military Coalition Camp, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

Back in the outskirts of the Military Coalition Camp, Chiming (with his helmet on) was standing out to the Liberty Tunnel up north with his D-Wheel parked near him. As he dazed into thought, another D-Wheel halted by his side; the familiar crimson red Vietnamese Chi-Minh.

Its rider, however, was clearly a female. She wore a crimson helmet, which she took off. Her uniform was a crimson red outfit with long sleeves with the iconic yellow star of Communism sewn onto the uniform’s front.

“Soldier, what may you be staring at?” asked the female soldier.

“Nothing,” Chiming replied, startled by the sudden call and recognised the uniform, “you’re with the People’s Army…”

“Yes, but I can see that we’re of the same skin,” said the soldier.

Suddenly, she stopped at once to receive a transmitted message on her dashboard.

“Ok, I’ll be there,” she said, “I apologise Comrade, but I have to go. May we meet in the battlefield in the future?”

She then rode off the area, leaving Chiming alone. He took off his helmet and let out a sigh.

“That girl…she looks so familiar…” Chiming wondered, “…could it be you, Nguyen Mai?”

18:41, 15 May 2092

Liberty Tunnel, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

“And here I go…I draw!” Elise said. (5-5)

She looked at her card, the Turbo Synchron.

“Alright, I Summon the Turbo Synchron first,” she said.

She placed the card down, and a small robot appeared. It was plated in green armour, and shaped like an engine motor. (100/500)

“Next I play the Trap Card Class Change,” she said, “This will increase my monster’s Level by 1…like my Iron Knight.” (LV: 5)

“So…it has come to this…” Vladimir said.

“I call for Tuning! My Iron Knight Gearfried with my Turbo Synchron!” she declared.

The Turbo Synchron sped all the way in front and vanished, leaving a single ring behind. Gearfried then passed through it, dissolving into 5 stars.

“Gathering stars move on to lead now to a new road. A road where there is freedom and soar the greatest heights. Synchro Summon!” Elise chanted.

Suddenly, a beam of light criss-crossed the alignment of stars and shone over the tunnel.

“Roar, the Turbo Warrior!” she declared and the Turbo Warrior reappeared. (2500/1500)

“So what, he’s only an equal to my End of Anubis,” Ramut said.

“Maybe so, but you have the weaker Embodiment of Apophis that I can destroy,” Elise said, holding another card up, “and I add more fire to my Warrior. You see, with 5 Speed Counters, I may play the Speed Spell – Silver Contrails.”

The Spell Card appeared and it caused a burst of silver winds to blow up; Turbo Warrior glowed along with it. (3500/1500)

“For this Battle Phase, he’ll be this strong for now,” Elise said.

“Sorry, but I have this,” Ramut said and his face-down opened, “I play the Magic Jammer Trap Card, so now your little power-up is now a power-down.”

He then discarded his Regenerating Mummy, and Turbo Warrior stopped the sliver glow. (2500/1500)

“Fine, I can still attack your Embodiment anyway,” Elise said as her Turbo Warrior pierced into the shield of the Embodiment and destroyed it.

Ramut (LP: 1900) Elise (LP: 1400)

“Draw,” said Ramut, (6-6) “I Set my two cards face-down and end my turn here.”

“He must not be wanting to open himself for a direct attack,” Vladimir assumed, “but…if Elise has a monster to Summon, then she may win this.

“Very well, I will go then,” Elise said. (7-7)

“Activate Continuous Trap Card!” Ramut cried.

His face-down card opened up, showing the Gravekeeper’s Chief with his minions performing a ritual involving a sacrifice in front of an altar.

“This one is called Afterlife Guidance,” he said, “a Monster that I control gains 400 Attack Points for every Monster in my Graveyard and I have four of them.”

The 2 Mummy Monsters and the 2 Pyramid Turtles appeared and was absorbed into the End of Anubis. (4100/0)

“And this will only be destroyed at your second End Phase,” he added, “now you won’t dare to headbutt your monster into mine.”

“You thought I was planning a kamikaze move, well I won’t be that dumb to do it in the way you imagined!” Elise exclaimed, “I have a better way, I Summon the Exiled Forces in Attack Mode.”

Suddenly, the band of wild mercenaries appeared. (1000/1000)

“And their effect is equally nifty and allows me to destroy your End of Anubis right away,” Elise said.

“Activate Glory Level Talisman!” Ramut said as his other Trap Card opened, “this card can only be Equipped to a Monster Level 5 or above and renders it immune to your Card Effects…unless you managed to Summon a Monster of Level 7 or higher…”

As the Exiled Force dashed in for their attack, End of Anubis glowed again and let out a roar; they were destroyed almost immediately.

She then looked at her only remaining card left, and took it out.

“I resort to this one then, the Speed Spell – Shift Down!” Elise declared, “it’s gonna be a risky one. By relinquishing 6 of my Speed Counters, I can draw 2 cards.”

With that, the Ouroborus truly did falter behind the jeep and the Khemwar. However, the Cerebra System was used to maintain stability as Elise drew out the 2 cards. (7-1)

“Hope they are good cards, or you could be regretting this,” Vladimir mentioned.

“Ok, I Set a card face-down and that’s it,” she said.

After that apparent end, Ramut made his next draw. (8-2)

“You had your chance, now you pay the price. End of Anubis, attack her Warrior with Underworld Claw!” he commanded.

The End of Anubis roared in a manner of a blood thirsty beast and extended its claws at the Turbo Warrior. However, an invisible barrier sealed off the attack and had it destroyed instead.

“Guess she did draw something worth the loss,” Vladimir concluded.

“Yup, I had played the Synchro Deflector Trap Card,” she said, “when you go out and attack me; I can negate the attack and destroy your own monster instead.”

“Smart one, now I am perfectly defenceless,” Ramut claimed, “I Set my card face-down…you go.”

And so forth, Elise made her next draw. (9-3) She pointed towards her opponent and the Turbo Warrior flew towards him.

“Thought you would do that, so I had this Set,” Ramut said as the card opened, “this is called Defence Draw by the way.”

As Turbo Warrior flew in to attack, he was halted by a barrier. In this time, Ramut drew out another card.

“Oh well, I activate my Trap Card!” Elise declared, “I wanted to use it earlier, but your End stopped me. But this card will be your end instead.”

The Trap Card flipped open, and in a burst of light, Gearfried the Iron Knight reappeared. (1800/1600)

“So what, I still got 100 Life Points and plenty Speed Counters to expend,” Ramut said.

However, Gearfried let out a cry as it glowed with fiery light. (1900/1700, LV: 5)

“Sorry, but that’s my Powerful Rebirth, only limited to Level 4 Monsters, but its Attack and Defence is increased along with the Level,” Elise explained, “I bet it now can beat the pulp out of you. Go get him.”

Gearfried the Iron Knight then charged up towards the Khemwar and smashed through the side. That impact forced the Khemwar to halt altogether, while Elise and Vladimir continued, deeper into the Tunnel.

Ramut (LP: 0) Elise (LP: 1400)

Ramut (LP: 0) Elise (LP: 1400)

Ramut luckily was safe from any real damage to his body, and managed to stand upright. He then scurried his pockets and threw out a grenade on the ground. He got on his Khemwar again, and drove off back to the Campsite before it exploded…and the tunnel collapsed on its own rumble.

“Wow…that was some duel,” Ramut said, “I should be sending the data back to the Lords.”

Swamp Grounds, State of Louisiana, Confederate States of Dixieland

On the other side of the Liberty Tunnel, it was the swampy regions of Louisiana. Normally dark and even more so at that time, the odd light in the desolate region was a strange occurrence in itself. The wild foliage rustled as the Ouroborus stomped its way out of it, and followed by Vladimir’s jeep.

“That guy…he had to blow up the Tunnel!” Elise cried, “good thing we made it out alive. But he’s gonna pay dearly if I see him again…”

“But overall, we had at least made it to the Dixies,” Vladimir said, “but we need to be careful here too. Best we do not act what we are.”

“But won’t that be acting for us already?” Elise pointed out.

“Just don’t make them think you’re foreign,” Vladimir said, “I better don’t speak too much; the accent gives me away too easily.”

Suddenly, the swampy bayou they were in had a strange temperature drop, with a casting mist over it. A strange eerie humming music began to play in the background, perfectly befitting the setting.

“I heard of this in a documentary once,” Vladimir said, “they said that in Louisiana, Haiti or West Africa, voodoo priests tend to call out spirits for protection against hostile forces.”

Suddenly, a shadowy form appeared before the duo. Elise was hardly convinced of the ‘spirit guardians’, merely throwing a stone via her Psychic powers at the ‘spirit’ and the fog cleared away.

“Interesting, not many had seen through this simple trick so far,” said a voice.

The leaves rustled again, and out came another figure, only on horseback. He was a man of typical African ethnicity and middle-aged, with long black hair tied behind his back. But, his most unique feature was the bone-adorned necklace around his neck and the similarly decorated wooden staff.

“So the lady must be it, I see Destiny has a great plan for you,” he said.

Ramut’s Tent, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

Hours following the incident at Liberty Tunnel, Ramut returned to Camp with minor injuries to be bandaged. He was resting in his tent, with Chiming there talking with him.

“So they made it safely,” Chiming said.

“Yes, they proceeded rather well,” Ramut said, “and I blew up part of the Tunnel to avoid any controversies involved.”

“You didn’t by chance blow them up…did you?” he asked.

“Do I look like in the good shape to blow up…” Ramut said, but stopped due to a leg pain.

“You should be resting now, I’ll be leaving,” he said.

After he left the tent with his torch lamp, another figure went inside the tent. He was Margarf Godwin, going in and saw Ramut.

“You finally had your day, getting injured by your own plots,” Margarf said, putting down his own torch lamp.

“All in the name of the Gravekeepers, I’m afraid,” Ramut said, “but seriously, there’s been quite an uproar of Negative Energy recently.”

“I know that,” Margarf said, “we haven’t seen this much ever since the Zero Reverse Effect. But we shouldn’t be going all-out on this. What we should do is to handle this without the involvement of…”

However, his speech was cut short by the sudden video screening of the Lords of the Valley of the Kings.

“My Lords, I have duelled the one and come to my conclusion on her,” Ramut said.

“Her?” the Lords exclaimed, with their own mutterings spoken.

“Yes, my Lords,” Ramut said, “She is one of true strength who has overwhelmed the Death God of Anubis.”

“Thank you for the input,” one of them said, “and Mr. Margarf, we may need to speak face-to-face in the near future. So be ready, we are already.”

“And to be frank, things are not so cool here,” another Lord mentioned, “we of the Gravekeepers have made our stand and joined with the Egyptian Nationalist Front. The Sahara is burning red with battle now.”

Indochina Division, Outer Rim – Gaia, Franco-Protectorate of Nouvelle-Orleans

Meanwhile, something else was going on far away from the French Foreign Legion’s Division, it was in the zone where in the Armed Forces of the nations of the former French Indochina resided. Out in the open air of the area, the female soldier (same whom Chiming met earlier) was typing away on her laptop.

She came across several criminal files, finally stopping by one particular one. It was the profile of a Mr. Nguyen Vo Bae.

“A fugitive guilty of crimes against the state…escaped and never found since…has been declared dead by the People’s Supreme Court…” she read out.

She then closed her laptop and sank into deep thought.

“So you were still alive after all, could it be…” she wondered, “…Vo Bae…what really happened with you?”

Lee Manor, Richmond, State of United Virginia, Confederate States of Dixieland

Also in the night, there was the Lee Manor, current household of the dominant Lee Clan of Virginian background. At that time, all should be asleep by then. However, Peter was hardly sleepy at all, even well-dressed for a go. However, the lights were turned on suddenly and a young Negro lad stood by the switch.

“Jacob, you shouldn’t be…” Peter said.

“Noah Sir, you must rest now. Tomorrow will be a busy day for you,” his slave, Jacob, said.

“Just call me Peter already,” Peter cried, “and I’m quitting being the Noah, a mere figurehead for a pretty face. I wish to find out my own journey in life.”

“A loyal servant shall follow his Master to the ends of Time and beyond…and follow you I shall,” Jacob said, “and let us go off.”

With that agreed, both of them left the door and their car drove out to the roads ahead.

Swamp Grounds, State of Louisiana, Confederate States of Dixieland

Within the swampy marshlands of Louisiana’s wilderness, Elise and Vladimir were riding along with the horse riding African man. Throughout the journey, the man spoke little, but Elise had strong curiosity to him.

“Say, who are you really?” Elise demanded.

“Simply call me by the name Bones,” he only said, “I practice the art of Voodoo.”

“Just like how the documentary said it,” Vladimir said, “was that a guardian spirit by the way?”

“It’s actually a Juju Guardian, a soul of the deceased that we summon to do our bidding,” Bones explained, “but only spirits that have grievances and wish to return to the World of the Living can be taken from the Afterlife.”

“So it won’t be easy getting them,” Vladimir said.

“Indeed, one must locate a proper spirit to use. Then, I must locate his or her bodily remnants as I need it for the ritual,” Bones explained, “it must be intact, not rotting or cremated as the ritual demands the body raw. Doing the ritual itself is dangerous and one may invoke the Death God’s intervention if not careful enough.”

“Ok, but what you mean by my destiny?” Elise asked.

“I was in mediation, when the spirits told me of a powerful entity coming,” Bones said, “they tell me of your importance and I must divine her fate for her to see.”

“I don’t really believe in this stuff, are they for real,” she said.

“Believe it or not, but the spirits never lie,” Bones said.

Suddenly, he stopped by a small hut by a flowing river. By then, they realised that they had left the swamp and into a forest plains.

“Come in, and your fate be decided,” he invited.

Bones unmounted himself from his horse and went into the hut, and Elise and Vladimir followed him. The interior of the hut was nothing spectacular, only simple furniture like a round wooden table wrapped in tattered table cloth and stools. Among the various piles over the hut, there was a radio, an old map of the area and other tools for voodoo sorcery.

“Welcome to my humble abode,” Bones said, “it’s nothing much, but make yourselves at home.”

“Yeah…” Elise said, staring at the hanged intestines on the rack.

“That’s only my dinner, dried pig intestines!” he exclaimed, “but the spirits demand your fate to told to you. Please let us go with the duel.”

With that, Elise went outside towards her Ouroborus and getting her Duel Disk out.

“Duel Disk Disengaging.”

And so, the Duel Disk itself detached from the D-Wheel and Elise quickly strapped it onto her arm. After which, she returned to the hut of Bones, expecting her primitive opponent also equipped with a Duel Disk…

However, the reality would be another case. Bones was squatting on his stool and apparently had no Duel Disk to speak of, only a huge pile of cards adding up to forty. He was shuffling them in a rather unorthodox way, that is to spread them out and mixing them a la mah-jong. Soon, he gathered the entire pile into a single deck of cards and placed it on the far right of the old table.

“So you’ll not be using the Duel Disk,” Elise said, “then I’ll just have to…”

“Continue its use, I have my ways to do things,” Bones said, “and you shall understand soon enough.”

Not knowing what he meant, Elise still played out her Duel Disk and drew out five cards. Meanwhile, Bones laid the top 5 cards face-down as his hand.

Bones (LP: 4000) Elise (LP: 4000)

Bones (LP: 4000) Elise (LP: 4000)

“The divined shall take the lead into his or her own destiny,” Bones said, closing his eyes.

“Ok then, but you will regret it,” Elise said, drawing a card, “I Summon the Max Warrior in Attack Mode!”

And a portal opened up in midair, and an armoured Warrior appeared. It held a forked staff as its weapon. (1800/800)

“And I throw in this face-down and I’m done,” she said.

Bones apparently heard that, and carefully slid a card from the top of his deck and placed it with the rest of his hand. He placed a card further in and flipped it up…showing it as a Monster Card.

“Come forth, the Knight of Pentacles!” he said, but in a voice that seemed to be one of many.

Elise and Vladimir would expect nothing to show, but a dark mist formed up below them on the floor. A pair of glowing eyes peered from the bottomless abyss, eventually a robotic creature holding a shield and spear defensively appeared. (1000/1000) Once it took its complete shape, a miniature card of the Monster appeared above it and began to rotate.

“What’s going on?” Vladimir wondered, “How is it that your cards can be formed without Solid Vision?”

“This card represents a facet of you Elisabeth Sutherland, therefore you declare when the card and simultaneously your fate stops at,” said Bones.

“…Fine…” Elise said, looking at the card, “…Stop!”

With that, the miniature card stopped its rotation and it was at upright position.

“Its upright effect is played; it cannot be destroyed in battle,” Bones said, “not to be destroyed means the relentlessness of one. You cannot let go of something, your past…your present…or your identity…”

“For your information, I have nothing to be holding me back!” Elise cried.

“End turn,” Bones said, ending his turn and Elise would make her draw.

“I begin my turn with the Graceful Charity Spell Card,” she said.

She then drew 3 cards out, looking at them. After a short moment, she discarded two of them (Shield Warrior & Level Warrior) and included the remaining ones as her hand.

“Ok, while I cannot destroy your Knight of Pentacles now with Max Warrior,” Elise said, “I’ll just have to Summon someone who can.”

She took out a card and played it down. Suddenly, the darkness shook as a new form appeared. It was a Warrior with two blade-like hands, in a leathery type of clothing. (1600/1000)

“The Twin-Sword Marauder of mine can damage you even when attacking a Defence Mode Monster,” she said, “so attack the Knight of Pentacles now!”

The Twin-Sword Marauder leapt into action and slashed his sword at the Knight’s shield.

Bones (LP: 3400) Elise (LP: 4000)

“And here’s Part II of his effect,” Elise said, “If he attacked a Monster in Defence Mode, he can go again.”

Once again, the Twin-Sword Marauder slashed another time at his target’s shield. Despite the damage, Bones was completely calm.

Bones (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 4000)

Bones (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 4000)

“Too bad this comes only once per turn,” Elise said, “but I merely end my turn for now.”

Bones then took out his next card and revealed it as a Monster Card, placing it on the Field and next to the Knight. Suddenly, a new form emerged from the darkness. It was another alien creature with large collar and looking something of a magician. (1100/1100)

As Elise saw the new creature, it sparked up a memory within her…

A younger Elise of age 4 or 5 was strolling along the halls of the Skuld Palace where her family resided, and guided by a family butler. As they entered another room, Joseph Sutherland awaited there along with another man.

“Ah, you are here at last my Granddaughter,” Sutherland said, “Elisabeth; I would like you to meet Dr. Siegfried. He’ll be your private tutor from now on.”

“What…what was that for?” Elise thought, “Dr. Sieg…”

“Arcana Force I - The Magician in Attack Mode,” Bones said, “like the Knight of Pentacles, you must select your own fate. Whatever could it be?”

The card spun endlessly above the Magician, and with Elise’s cry to stop, the card stopped…at upright.

“We shall get to his effect in due time, but now we must see…your true self of the present,” he said, revealing a Spell Card this time, “Vision it is called, and I may reveal the top card of my deck…your true self.”

He took out the next card that he would have drawn, and showed it to us all. It was another Effect Monster Card like the Knight of Pentacles, and sharing the strange alien-like appearance. However, this one had long tendrils of hair-like structures and baggy pants-like growth. A feature worth noting was that it had zero Attack and Defence.

“Zero Attack and Defence, I would like to see its effect,” Vladimir thought.

“It is called Arcana Force 0 – The Fool, an embodiment of the lack of enlightenment; one who engages in blind tasks without logical consideration of the reality…” Bones analysed, “therefore, the Fool would take on a journey…abandoning all previous existences. And this Fool will return to my Deck, in which I require a shuffle…Mr. Vladimir, if you may.”

“Clearly he’s talking about me…” Elise thought.

Vladimir just walked through the storm of dark fog across the floor and took away both the Fool and the rest of his deck, shuffling them as he would to his regular decks. After a short while, he put it back to its original position and returned back to the sidelines.

“Now for the Upright Effect of the Magician,” Bones said, “the Magician is one who possesses great skill and the ability to do things. Clearly this represents someone you had known in your life…a Doctor Siegfried I presume. I’m sure he is a man who uses his skills well, probably to begin the spinning of your fate and journey. And this one, the Magician, can have its original Attack doubled for this turn.”

Suddenly, the Magician glowed with an intense surge of energy. (2200/1100)

“The Magician, cast your skills upon the Twin-Sword Marauder!” Bones cried.

A ball of light was formed in the Magician’s hands and it unleashed it at the Twin-Sword Marauder. However, a Shield Warrior popped up and blocked off the attack.

Bones (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 3400)

“Sorry, but I was smart enough to have discarded my Shield Warrior through Graceful Charity,” Elise said.

Bones was ready to take out another card set as his hand and showed it as another Spell Card.

“Your future is set to be foretold, and this Divination of Fate is played for this purpose,” he said, “since the Magician has failed to destroy your Monster, another Arcana Force Monster would be Summoned from the Hand.”

He placed another card forward and revealed it as a Monster Card. Suddenly, another Monster floated up on the Field. It had no legs or lower body, only an upper torso that seemed to be at perpetual levitation. The many claws on its upper pair of arms functioned as additional hands, along with the more regular lower arms. The figure boded two faces; one at the lower half was void of expressions while the upper one was perpetually sulking and serious. (1400/1400)

Elise looked at the figure and couldn’t help feeling something as she saw into it…those glaring cold eyes, the standard of a monarch… And in her mind, the image of Joseph Sutherland came along.

“Arcana Force IV – The Emperor, the embodiment of imperial power and might,” Bones explained, “since the time of the Holy Empires, mankind relied on their Emperors to lead them, thus holding absolute power in their hands. You have associated with those of such powers, haven’t you? But what’s your view of these individuals?”

A smaller version of the Emperor Card appeared above the creature and it began to spin. Elise looked at it very carefully as it moved, thinking of stopping it.

“Stop…” she said, and the card was at inverse, “…and now what…”

“So your view of autocratic power is one of the inherent weaknesses of power. As such, the very presence of the Emperor shall weaken its subjects,” he said, “The game effect would be corresponded with the lowering of all Arcana Force Monsters by 500 Attack.”

The Emperor then glowed out a light, and it moaned. (900/1400) The Magician was also engulfed by that same light. (1700/1100)

“Wait, but you said these monsters have 2 effects depending on the position…so what would happen if they went the other way,” Vladimir asked.

“The Knight of Pentacles would show a willingness to abandon its existence and be destroyed at once; the Magician would misuse his skills for the opponent’s benefit, giving out 500 Life Points for a Spell Card being played,” Bones explained, “where else the Emperor will empower my Arcana Force Monsters by 500.”

“So the Upright effect is the good one, and the upside down one is bad,” Vladimir realised.

“Disrespect he who holds power…yes I admit such,” Elise said, “…but only because some of the nobility there abuses their power! Like that guy…Andersen…”

“I understand your plight, and you’re not the generic nobility archetype either,” Bones said, “no, but let us observe more about you. With one face-down, I end my turn thus.” (600/1100)

“I draw then,” Elise said, getting a Spell Card for it.

“Ok…if I play the Spell Card, the Magician will only grow stronger instead…” she thought, “better get rid of it before using it…”

“Your Emperor gave you away and I’ll pierce through you hard. Attack his Knight of Pentacles now!” she declared her monster’s attack.

“Activate Trap Card, Change Destiny!” Bones declared.

The Trap Card opened up and two different doors appeared. One was blue in colour, while the other one was red. The attacking Twin-Sword Marauder was suddenly forced back by a light from the card.

“Change Destiny negates an attack on my monsters, and now you decide its effect and whom it be played on,” Bones said, “if it were me, then I will lose Life Points equal to half your Marauder’s Attack score. Likewise, you stand to gain that same amount to yourself.”

“That’ll be a no-brainer choice, one would choose the damaging effect on the opponent,” Vladimir said.

“Elisabeth Sutherland, look within yourself what the two sides of destiny has to offer,” Bones cried, “the red will show your true path, and the blue shows the alternative.”

Suddenly, the light shone even brighter and it engulfed her…

Elise was in utter darkness of blank space, she however glimpsed upon two light sources. She looked over and saw the same two doors in Change Destiny, and both were left ajar and a clear view to the other side, albeit in great light.

She looked harder and saw into the red one. It was showing a scenario where in Bones suffered some damage and he fainted. The scene changed again, showing a picture of Elise in a Victorian dress, something signifying a sense of nobility. She sat upon a throne, and was surrounded by many other people, bowing down at her feet in upmost respect.

“Power shall allow one to change the world…you wanted to change the stagnant world of nobles, you shall revolutionise it by ascending the throne…by killing all standing your way…”

Suddenly, her entire family with Victoria, Carl and Joseph were bound in crucifixion crosses. Suddenly, a group of gunmen appeared and shot all of them dead.

“No…this is not the ideal world I wanted!”

“I choose the blue door and me as the target!” Elise cried, lowering down her head while taking in the energy from her Marauder.

Bones (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 4200)

Bones (LP: 2800) Elise (LP: 4200)

“What?! She took the one that won’t do her good,” Vladimir exclaimed.

“Sometimes our very own desire would never be so easy. You seemed frightened by possibilities of your destiny,” Bones said, “you once wished of changing the world from within, but you feared being worse than them. Thus, you chose the so-called ‘safer’ choice and left that world behind.”

“I don’t want to face them…I may not like that world I was born in, but I was afraid to do anything to my own family…” Elise lamented, “So I must flee, with Siegfried’s help…but that won’t stop you from my Max Warrior!”

Suddenly, the Max Warrior leapt at the Magician and hurled himself towards it. With that, he gained more power. (2200/800)

“When he attacks a monster, he gains 400 Attack Points, so this will really hurt,” Elise said, “Go, Swift Rush!”

The Max Warrior began a continuous strike at the Magician, destroying it at once.

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 4200)

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 4200)

After attacking, the Max Warrior retreated beside Elise, but it grew weary so soon. (LV: 2. 900/400)

“But after destroying a monster, my Max Warrior will lose much of its power. But since your Magician’s now gone, I can play the Shield Crush Spell Card,” she said, “therefore destroying that Knight of Pentacles I can never get rid…until now of course.”

She then played the card, and a blast shot out. It managed to finally destroy the Knight of Pentacles into pieces of its former self.

“Ok, I Set another one face-down and you go on with your fortune-telling crap,” Elise said.

That last statement was meant as an insult, not that Bones took it seriously or to thought. He then continued with his draw, and mediated on his only 2 cards. With a short pause, he stashed the Emperor card into what that functioned as a Graveyard Zone…meaning that he’s about to Advance Summon something big… The Emperor also turned into a globe of light, sinking into the bowels of darkness itself.

“Advance Summon…Arcana Force XII – The Hanged Man!” he declared.

Suddenly, a light beam erupted behind Bones, morphing into a crystal tree of sorts. On the tip of this tree, there was a large crystalline figure hanging from it. (2200/2200) The figure had several crystalline tentacles on it, and the crystalline face stared at Elise from above…face-to-face, an encounter to ring some bells…

The 10-year old Elise and Siegfried were in the Royal Villa of the Danish Royal Palace, overlooking the verdant background they were in. However, they suddenly heard a cry…and found out a young Japanese boy whose age was like Elise’s was being hanged upside down on a tree. Down there, a similarly old boy of Dane heritage was laughing at the Japanese’s plight.

“Andersen, help the poor guy!” Elise cried.

“This Nip here doesn’t know his place here, and I was teaching him a lesson on respect,” Prince Andersen said.

Suddenly, another scene in a future years later (near Elise’s departure from her home) since that time came into seeing. It was night-time in the wild lands near the Royal Villa, with several Royal Guards looking all over the place. Among them, a certain Guard slammed his fist onto a tree, taking out an incom.

“Mr. Sutherland, we have searched all over the Danish Palace…and have found no trace of Prince Andersen.”

“Return to Base then. We cannot help it then, I will just figure something out…but we shall declare Prince Andersen officially dead.”

“The Hanged Man, an embodiment of the future is the spirits’ message,” Bones said, “someone from your past who desires something…maybe the power of the Emperor, but he was once vanquished and yet reborn to take back his burning desires.”

“Impossible, I saw that bastard Andersen falling from that tree!” Elise cried.

“The death of Prince Andersen of Denmark, I had heard of it before,” Vladimir said, “the Royal Guards claimed the body had died of drowning, and burnt by an unknown forest fire.”

“You fool…don’t you get it…Sutherland covered that up to prevent a scandal…one that I could be involved,” Elise said, “…but what you meant by ‘reborn’…he’s alive…”

“That I am in no position to speak of, only events relevant to your fate are within my current scope of knowledge,” Bones said, “but you must select the effect the Hanged Man shall take.”

Suddenly, a miniature card of the Hanged Man appeared below the figure’s head and it spun into motion. Elise looked carefully at it; almost she was waiting for it to stop at a certain point.

“Since the upside-down effects are negative effects to him, I’ll just make him take this monster’s,” she thought.

“Stop!” declared Elise, and the card was at inverse.

“And that means the negative effect is triggered,” Vladimir said.

“On the contrary, this card is the oddball of the Arcana Force. Its inverse effect is the positive one instead,” Bones said, “and now if I may request your Twin-Sword Marauder to be used for such demonstration.”

Suddenly, the Hanged Man sent its tentacles and wrapped it around the Twin-Sword Marauder. Soon, it managed to crush the Warrior and destroyed it.

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 2600)

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 2600)

“It can destroy your monster and inflict damage equal to its current Attack,” Bones said.

“And I assume that the upright effect would do the same thing to you instead,” Vladimir said.

“The Hanged Man would be the catalyse for your downfall it seems, so it shall attack your Max Warrior,” he declared.

The Hanged Man then thrust the crystalline tentacles and crushed the Max Warrior.

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 1300)

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 1300)

“Fine then, end your turn quick,” she demanded.

“With this card, it has such ended already,” Bones said, and Elise then drew a card out.

“To kick things off, I start off with the Powerful Rebirth Trap Card,” she said, “I can Special Summon a Level 4 Monster from the Graveyard like the Twin-Sword Marauder.”

Suddenly, the card opened up and the Twin-Sword Marauder reappeared again. (1700/1100, LV: 5)

“And all its stats will be boosted by one level,” she said.

“Huh? She could’ve used it to Summon back her Max Warrior,” Vladimir thought, “His effect would have allowed Elise to trump the Hanged Man.”

“Now I Release the Marauder for the…Turret Warrior!” Elise said.

Suddenly, the Twin-Sword Marauder disappeared into a globe of light that sunk into the darkness. The ground was shaken with a powerful wave, and the Turret Warrior stomped out of the darkness. (1200/2000)

“And its effect would allow it to gain Attack based on the Released Monster’s original Attack score,” Elise said, (2800/2000) “and this is the finest hour to attack your Hanged Man. Fire away, Revolving Shot!”

“Activate Command Silencer,” he said.

Suddenly, the two turrets mounted on the Warrior blasted bullet shots. However, a device that seemed a mix between a totem pole and a loudspeaker appeared and it let off an ear-piercing screech that seemed to stop the attack. Bones later took out another card from his deck.

“This card negates an attack and I draw a card,” he said, “from this, I believe you had failed to speak up before the actions of the nobility and regretted it.”

“Ok…but she could’ve used Max Warrior who’s also Level 4…what is she planning…” Vladimir thought.

“And I Set this one face-down and end turn,” Elise said, and a card appeared face-down on the Field.

Bones was aware that he would make his turn, thus drawing a second card to start off his turn.

“Activate the Hanged Man’s effect,” he said as the crystalline tentacles wrapped around Turret Warrior and crushed it, and the figure glowed.

“Oh no, I activate the Trap Card called Burst Synchro Summon!” she cried, “This card will negate all Effect Damage dealt to me this one time.”

As she would be attacked by a beam of light, Elise would be covered by a protective veil.

“And then…I can Summon a Synchro Monster whose Attack is equal to the damage I was supposed to have taken,” Elise continued, taking out a card, “and with 2800 Attack Points, I can Summon…the Nitro Warrior in Attack Mode!” (2800/2000)

Suddenly, a green beam of light shot up and the Nitro Warrior came out from it.

“And I take it that you can’t do it twice in a turn,” Elise said, “come and get me then, or my Nitro Warrior gets you first.”

As always, Bones had no verbal reaction towards it. He then took the one drawn by Command Silencer and played it, another Spell Card it was. Suddenly, the image of that same Spell Card appeared and it rotated.

“Now I activate the Cup of Ace, looking at your character via it,” Bones said, “now this card’s effect is the ability to draw cards from the deck…but who is the question…”

The card image kept on rotating…until Elise would say ‘Stop’ and the card stopped…at its upright position, where in Bones would get the boon of the card effect. As such, he drew out 2 new cards.

“It would seem that you are blessed with great friends…like Mr. Vladimir here, Dr. Siegfried, General Chinggis, Hitoshi Burukami among others…and the Fool has made it to the end of its journey and so has the duel,” he said, flipping over a card that was Arcana Force 0 – The Fool and it appeared before them, (0/0) “and like before, you must take the choice of your fate.”

Like the other Arcana Force Monsters, the card of the Fool appeared above it and it rotated to no apparent end.

“Ok, stop,” she said, and it was at inverse.

“The naivety of the Fool shall allow it to resist all influences from your card effects with its inverse effect set into play and it is naturally indestructible in battle, thus showing a stubborn side to you Elisabeth Sutherland,” Bones said, “but the fact that the Fool is Summoned to the Field forces you to suffer 1000 Points of Damage to your Life Points.”

Suddenly, the Vision card appeared and it shot out a blast at Elise.

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 300)

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 300)

“As you can see, your naivety would be your weakness,” Bones said, “so is the Prince Andersen whom the Hanged Man represents, but can you overcome these?”

“Just end your turn, and I’ll overcome them!” Elise cried.

“Such determination, but how far they can carry you…” Bones said, “As I am unable to attack now, the Hanged Man assumes its Defence Mode, similar to the Fool at present.”

He placed the card at horizontal position, and the Hanged Man resolved to shield itself from attacks with the tentacles.

“I end my turn,” he said, “and now, show me how you overcome this…yourself.”

“And I draw,” Elise said, “Nitro Warrior attacks the Arcana Force XII – The Hanged Man now with your Dynamite Knuckle!”

The Nitro Warrior growled as it flew straight into The Hanged Man and impacted on it. The Hanged Man was quick to shatter and its crystal shards flew everywhere.

“The Fool is most suitable as your avatar indeed; attacking a Defence Mode Monster does no sort of good,” Bones said.

“Well, my Warrior has an effect that’ll destroy you for good,” Elise said, “Since it had destroyed a Monster, I can switch a Monster in Defence Mode to Attack Mode. Go, Dynamite Impact!”

Suddenly, Nitro Warrior growled again and launched an energy blast at the Fool, forcing it to no longer defend and faced Elise head-on.

“And the best part is that I can attack you with my Nitro Warrior now,” Elise said, “Go again, Dynamite Knuckle!”

Once again, the Nitro Warrior flew in for a full-blown impact at the Fool with his fists glowing. Suddenly, there was a great impact and the dark substance spewed like wildfire. However, Bones was still in play, but only a card short in his hand.

“Such impulse…this seems to be your downfall as well,” Bones said, “By discarding Arcana Force – Temperance from my hand, I can negate Battle Damage dealt to this one time. The lengths you take on impulse and raw instinct will ultimately be your true downfall it seems, but who will truly be the harbinger for such?”

“End turn…” she said.

Bones then took out another card, and placed it down for later use. The Monster Reborn ankh appeared and it shone, and the Magician reappeared again (1100/1100)

“And so, the Magician returns to guide you…but to your doom it seems,” Bones said.

“But he’s too weak to deal with my Nitro Warrior with either effects,” Elise said as the card rotated about, “…ok, stop here.”

And the card was affixed at its negative effect, allowing Elise’s Life Points a boost up with a Spell Card played.

“Your fate seems grim to thee, and this shows more than anything else,” Bones said, revealing his drawn card, “the Suit of Sword X, the most potent sign of death and ruin…more so than the Death and Tower of the Major Arcana…”

Suddenly, the card appeared in front of Elise and it rotated. After a while, Elise then told it to “Stop”. And it stopped at an upright position.

“Oh no, destruction is your fate itself…by Suit of Sword X, I can destroy all your Monsters,” Bones said.

A barrage of swords came out from the card and they all pierced into Nitro Warrior, destroying it.

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 800)

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 800)

“End her now, the Magician,” Bones commanded.

The Magician formed an orb of light and it hit at Elise quite badly.

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 0)

Bones (LP: 1200) Elise (LP: 0)

After that last blast, the Solid shapes formed by the duel cleared away. Even the dark fog was gone from the floor. Bones stood upright and walked towards Elise.

“The spirits have given you their guidance,” Bones claimed, “The Hanged Man returns to reclaim; the Magician is not truly the pure being you wished. Although the Magician failed to lay its first blow to you and it provided the weak link of my monsters for you, but it was the Magician whom finished you. Beware of the Magician…my advice would be.”

“Ok, that was rather strange…but how did you make those cards appear?” Vladimir asked.

“Hmm, trade secret…I would like to take you in, but you seem too old,” Bones said, facing Elise again, “The Fool, I understand you. I used to live out in a city…discriminated by the systems there. One day, I fled that hell and it was my own master, my Magician, who found me. He was a White, but taught me the voodoo as his Black master before him and I was like his son.”

“But mind we stay over for the night,” Vladimir said, “It’s getting dark and all.”

“Of course, I will prepare two hammocks for you,” Bones said, “and you’re going to live tonight’s dinner – dried pig intestines!”

“Oh…I can’t wait…” Vladimir said sarcastically.

Somewhere along a deserted road, Arep was riding his D-Wheel across the night scene. On his mind, there was one thing going on.

“First Elise’s been found again…and now that Nip has came along…” he thought, “just like old times…”

Northern Virginian Highlands, CSD

In the Highlands of Virginia, few roads covered the tracks over the hilly region, but they were all in a state of disrepair. After the forming of the Confederate States, the roads were rarely used and had fallen into ruins of their former glory.

However, only a single vehicle drove along that former road. It was a regular Lee car running on hydrogen, a fuel source in the case of scarcity of common oils. The Noah Peter Lee was driving the car in the front, and his slave Jacob was seated beside him.

“Sir…” Jacob said.

“Call me Peter, I told you already,” he said.

“..Peter…at this rate, we’ll be heading to Washington DC,” Jacob said.

“That’s just where I’m heading out to,” he said.

Bones’ Hut, State of Louisiana, CSD

It would soon be morning in Louisiana’s swamps, although the sunlight was not all that intense or felt present (mainly due to the dense forests). But Elise yawned and began eating her so-called breakfast, which was something like snails.

“So how was it, my Bayou Escargot?” Bones asked, “I spent the dawn to look for only the finest swamp snails and…”

Suddenly, the radio lying among the pile suddenly roared into life and picked up something.

“Alright folks, let’s give some applause for the Seven O’clock Dixie Radio! And first off, a most distressing news for all ye viewers from Virginia to the Bahamas down south…the Noah Peter of Richmond has been found missing in his residence! So far, we have no clue as to who did such crimes, but rumours speak of the Orthodoxy Crusaders as the culprits…”

“The Orthodoxy Crusaders?” wondered Elise.

“They are a group of people who apparently vow to restore true faith into the Dixies, not some government propaganda against race,” Bones said, “it somehow seemed likely for them to do such things.”

Orthodoxy Crusaders HQ, State of Houston, CSD

The State of Houston was based on the eastern parts of the former Texas, ceded from the Republic as an outcome of a minor war between them. It was named after its capital city, also called Houston. Compared to other parts of the CSD, Houston was slightly liberal due to a Texas past and it housed the nerve centre for the Orthodoxy Crusaders, in the form of an underground church.

Currently, there was a meeting going on among the higher-ups of the Crusaders, the Knight Commanders and the Grand Master himself. A radio was playing out the Seven O’clock Dixie Radio, and that particular news about them.

“…So far, we have no clue as to who did such crimes, but rumours speak of the Orthodoxy Crusaders as the culprits…”

“This is absolutely outrageous; our most honourable organisation would not resort to such means!” a Knight Commander in his late 50s exclaimed.

“And there’s more from the spies,” another Knight Commander in his teens said, “the Dixieland government is now planning to exterminate all of the Crusaders, and starting from here.”

“If so, then we must prepare for battle,” the Grand Master said, facing the teen Knight Commander, “Our revolution shall be fulfilled as we are the Warriors of the Christ and His shining truth!”

Considering the Church of Noah a corruption of church by the state, the Orthodoxy Crusaders sought to eradicate the heretic ideals of the CSD government.

However, this had earned it the claim of terrorists by the CSD government in Albino. It was said that the Order had secret supports from Texas, eagerly trying to retake the lost region back.
Death takes to Houston, where a bloody battle would be waged. It would also be a case where in brother fights against brother literally. Next on Yu-Gi-Oh NAPEU – Ch 21 – Abel & Cain! Blood may be thicker than water, but their blood boils at high speed.

...Nope' date=' the foreshadowing has lost me. What COULD it mean?

Does give a bit of depth to Elise though, which is a nice touch.

Anyway, good chapter.

[/quote']

I guess it was too cryptic here, but my hints will be the Hanged Man (Prince Andesen) and the Magician (Dr. Siegfried)
