It can't be that she was a regular human' date=' that wouldn't have made Ichigo stronger.

[/quote']

Well, she was killed by a regular Hollow. If anything, her Hierro should have blocked the blow.

My theory is that Masaki was a descendant of someone we know, possibly Aizen or even Yamamoto.

Another theory: Kenpachi is also working with Aizen. Based solely on the fact that Aizen mentioned him during this chapter, and that he was the only Captain not present during the Turn Back the Pendulum arc.

Is it possible that Aizen isn't the main villain, but rather someone else? Or, to be precise, something else...

The Muramasa arc taught us a few things about Zanpakutou. First and foremost, the power belongs to a spirit, rather than the sword simply having magical traits. Secondly, a person's respective Zanpakutou shares many traits with their masters, in most cases. (Shunsui's Zanpakuto are notable exceptions.)

Are we not reading Aizen well enough? He has said at least once: "Kyouka Suigetsu's power is 'Complete Hypnosis'", not "my power". Much like with Barragan, it is the power itself that should be feared, rather than the wielder of it. Our main villain is not the person holding the sword, but the sword itself and the spirit it actually is: Kyouka Suigetsu. We don't know if Aizen is immune to Kyouka Suigetsu's powers; he has just never used them on himself.

Kenpachi can't be working with Aizen. In a flashback scene with Ikkaku, it showed him fighting Kenpachi in the poor district of Rukongai where they both grew up. Yachiru was also with him when this happened.

Kenpachi wasn't in the Turn Back the Pendulum arc because he is a fairly new Captain. He recently became Captain after he defeated the previous Captain of the 11th division as stated by Maki Ichinose. Maki Ichinose left Soul Society like 10 or 20 years (This is a guesstimate) before the Arrancar Arc, and 10 to 20 years is way far from 110 years ago which is where the Turn Back the Pendulum arc takes place. So if you look at all of that, Kenpachi is pretty new as a Captain.

Also, if you consider his personality, Kenpachi isn't really the type to work for someone, especially Aizen. He likes the thrill of the fight. That's his main reason for becoming Captain and even joining the Gotei 13, so that he could fight strong people and hollows.

Another (although certainly thought of before) theory of what Aizen meant to say before Isshin cut him off:

"You are a Shinigami and a Quincy." Masaki was the younger sister of Ryuken, Uryuu's dad, and thus Ichigo inherited some of his mother's abilities as well as his father's.

Maybe she was a regular Shinigami and Isshin is a Vizard.

That's possible too.

but if thats the case' date=' wouldn't Grand Fisher have gained some super power like that 1 hollow at the begining of the sword fiend ark?

You're thinking about a Zanpakuto, I said Shinigami. >.>

Maki was anime only. Plus, Kenpachi may be working with Aizen but Aizen in fact put Kenpachi under an illusion.

Then how come Ichigo is rather adept at being a Hollow and has not displayed a single bit of Quincy power? Aizen may have planned to keep it restrained, but if Ichigo had Quincy power, why would he even need him as a tool?

I know that, but remember that Kaien Shiba was devoured by a hollow, and that hollow was eaten by a menos grande gillian, which Aizen turn into an arrancar. aka the 9th espada ( I'm not gonna try and spell his name. ) and he had the power to become Kaien. he even had Kaien's trident zanpakuto. so if the 9th espada was able to become Kaien when he became an arrracncar, wouldn't grandfisher have STILL been able to turn into Ichigo's mom AFTER he became an arrancar?

No!

The 9th Espada had the special ability to absorb the abilities of his victims.

Hollow Absorption: While all Hollows can cannibalize each other to gain power, Aaroniero has the ability to completely absorb other hollows, merging not only their extra power with his own but also gaining their individual abilities.[17] The ability allows him to evolve without limit, unlike normal Espada. Though not used, Aaroniero gained all of the powers of Metastacia, including:

Grand Fisher didn't have this ability.

"rather adept" is quite an understatement, in my opinion. Ichigo barely shows any signs of being able to control his inner hollow, aside from putting the mask on. This he demonstrated fairly well as recently as the Ulquiorra fight, and has been a recurring theme throughout the series.

I came to the Quincy conclusion through the method of elimination. There are three possible endings to Aizen's line that I can think of:

• "... a human." This would not have been enough to set off Isshin's protective instincts, so that shouldn't be it.

• "... a Hollow." Again, this would not have made much of a difference - Ichigo already knows well enough there's a Hollow inside him.

• "... a Quincy." Thus, I came to this conclusion. It explains how Isshin and Ryuken know each other, and a possible reason to why Ichigo has so much spiritual power - he has been drawing it in from his surroundings, unconsciously, since the day he was born.

This guy might be right about Masaki being Ryuken sister

I thought about the bolded as a possibility, but Ichigo seems to leak spiritual energy, not absorb it.
If you have enough energy, and keep absorbing, chances are it's going to leak. I guess Ichigo reached the "upper limit". Good work, Boring Invincible Hero.
Isshin facepunches Ichigo SERIOUSLY HARD

Isshin and Ichigo talk for a bit

Isshin gives Aizen the finger

Gin goes bankai

Can't wait to see it in English.

EDIT: Oh, and another thing to support the Masaki Was A Quincy theory: Remember the first time Rukia and Ichigo met, and Rukia lost her entire spiritual power, though she only meant to give half. Ichigo drained the rest from her, subconsciously.

EDIT2: Upper left panel. Yes, Ichigo has used Quincy-like powers: It's his signature move.
