I think the chapter is above average for Bleach standards. Though yeah, I rarely treat Bleach chapters as complete chapters at all. It is either dialogue without action or action without dialogue (I mean, not 100% but with the amounts heavily unbalanced).

Err... still feels wrong that all Zero Division members had to actually die in such a rushed way after such a long hype, regardless of who Jugabach ends up being.

Also, I don't think it really works.... I mean what they just did with captains implying they are all in conditions to come assist as if some of their asses hadn't been so heavily kicked that some were borderline implied to be dead, or at the very least in a comma.

Also, the remaining sternritters being just killed off from above a few chapters ago was more around the lines of "whelp we just made you go through all these pointless fights and Jugabach was still gonna eventually take away their lives to help him fight."

It looks as if the final battle is about to start so as of right now I have no idea what Kubo is gonna do with what still needs to be done:

-Uryu hasn't done anything, and from what I understood Jugabach had self-granted permission to drain him off as well if needed from the moment he drank from that cup. I wouldn't be too surprised if Kubo decided to do that. Even though Uryu almost is like Sasuke from Naruto....

-Other than Urahara's plan to go to the palace, I'm still waiting for a more clear explanation of the shabby stuff him and Ichigo's dad were planning. It'd be too weird if it somehow tied in with what 8th captain might have in mind with 12th (I don't know most of the captains names).

-Yachiru just disappeared (as minor as that sounds) I'm almost certain she'll just randomly pop up on Zaraki's shoulder attending to Urahara's call (sigh).

-Vizored, you are not all captains, what are you doing?

-Fullbringers, why were you shown and what can you possibly do at this point?

-Grimjow, I really don't care about you so if you reappear it better help the story in some way. I'd rather see Ulquiorra for unlikely cameos, or Aizen, or the 03 Espada girl who is apparently useless.

-Guy with the pig that accompanied Ichigo and Company back when they were rescuing Rukia: What use do you have at this point?

-I wouldn't even call Uyru that. Sure, I think he was SUPPOSED to be that, but he hasn't done ANYTHING since his fight in Hollow World WAY bad in the 200s.

-I SO BADLY want Ichigo's dad to come back. He was made to be a cool character and they've done NOTHING with him. And yea, what ever those two are doing is going to come up later since Kubo isn't that bad a writer to forget that. Question is how dumb will it be.

-Agree that is WEIRD and it wasn't even addressed in the chapter. My guess is she was spirit for Ken's sword.

-Vizords were all Vice Captain or Captain before they left Soul Society.

-However they come into play, it will be dumb.

-I do find it odd that Grimjow is so much more popular when the bigger fight was certainly the one vs. Ulquiorra. And yea, both 3rd Espadas are useless.

-He is a meat shield. Which I venture to guess everyone will be until Ichigo gets another power up to finally win.

Yeah Uryu is not really THAT, and Sasuke being what he was wasn't a great thing in Naruto to begin with, so being an attempt that works even less is an issue. Wow now that you mention it, Espada 8 was his last fight and he wasn't even really winning it... I have a problem with the half assed attempt of Kubo's to try to hype up Uryu's "real" power...

Come to think of it, Isshin, didn't he lose his power in order to protect Masaki because of what Urahara suggested to save her? If that's the case, they didn't answer at all how he knew about the Final Getsuga technique, did they? While we are at it, how did Isshin know about Getsuga? It's not like bankai are passed down through generations, they are unique to every individual.... so I'm confused.

Zaraki's sword spirit would have to be something else. I like the idea but thinking about it it'd give some complications: It'd mean Getsuga's talk was meaningless about how Zaraki's sword was crying, because Yashiru was always going around happy-go-lucky with Zaraki, and it'd mean no other captains noticed her being that either, and it'd be weird that she has her own sword so it'd be like having the bankai of a bankai there, and it'd also mean Zaraki is covering up 2 full seats of his own squad. So it'd probably create more answers than it answers, especially after their concept of "bankai" is supposed to be done with its explanation... I mean, the creator of all bankais himself was just killed off with a gun in an unceremonious scene and the leader of the zero division seemed to have his own thing "older than bankai".

Vizards... true, I derped while writing that one.

What I meant to say was that Kubo borderline killed the leader of them without putting much of a fight against small fry enemies, implying he didn't know what to do with them so he'd make it so that they are killed off or something rather quickly... Then they are here for some reason and suddenly Shinji was just resting there until Urahara called? Oh come on! Bleach has this dumb concept where in an all out war, characters are willing to "hold back" secrets, upgrades, and powers at the cost of their lives for forced reasons, almost to the point it implies whatever they are fighting for is not important enough to give it their all.

Also: The hollow mask Vizard transformation is my favorite power upgrade in this manga, so it has been painful watching Ichigo not use it at all, implying he lost it, and not having any Vizard captains use it at all, as if some captain protocol forbid it. No matter it is the perfect weapon against Quincies (because reasons) or that it is clearly a higher upgrade for them than their bankai....

Oh yeah... Forgot there were 2 espada 3s.... Might as well be none.

They had initially said Hallibel was used to create arrancars.... Were they using her like a sex slave or something? . . . . .*cough* anyways....

One was enslaved off-screen and even in her prime was just even against Hitsugaya sooooo... lame.

The other one, I'm really bothered by Nel's injury. It sounds like a really bad excuse to put her out of the way, and it sounds like she was just used for padding. Somehow Inue can't heal her or doesn't try to, and for some reason other than her powers they also dumbed her down permanently... IDK other characters don't even keep scars from equal or worse injuries... I think its a bunch of bull.....

But what we got out of Ulquiorra was baddass Ichigo more than Ulquiorra. Sure, he was cool…but I'm a Grimjow fan, myself.

I think the point of these characters is to show that Kubo doesn't ACTUALLY forget everything he writes, lol.

I mean, I personally like the idea of the last arc having as many characters as possible, even if they are useless/die. It's nice to show who's made it where in the series as well as showing that they weren't just arc specific characters, in a way.

I think he's putting Nel out of the fight(s) for a bullshit reason because it still makes more sense than killing her.

People like Nel too much, myself included xD

At this point, can we all just agree that Kubo isn't releasing parts of a story, but parts of chapters? Remember how long Deicide lasted, to the point that it spanned nearly three whole volumes? At least with Deicide, some of the chapters still felt complete. This, though? Now it feels like he's trying to draw things out to be like that, but he's gotten too carried away with it.

I haven't read bleach since chapter 600, so I have to ask, is it worth picking back up yet? by that I mean does it have a coherent plotline for me to follow in the current chapters that will feel like it has actual meaning, or has it not progressed all that much from chapter 600 yet?

I'm not even joking when I say almost nothing has happened in the past 14 chapters. Its kind of sad really.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I have no idea what's going on.

And I don't care.

[spoiler=From what I gather...]Yhwach goads Ichigo into pulling out his sword from the Spirit King's body, then takes control of the Quincy blood in Ichigo's body (like a puppet) and uses him to cut the king in half. Which begs the question, why didn't Yhwach just cut him up like that to start?

[spoiler=.]

He wants to screw with him and make Ichigo do it. Remember he is now all knowing and knew Ichigo would try to pull the sword from the body.

so to put it simply, the king, supposedly the largest figure in the story gets wrecked like basic cannon fodder and doesn't even get the gift of characterization, yhwach is more op than aizen for even less reason. ichigo is once more the target of big bad mind games, and the zero squad had zero significance... yeah, I'm probably just gonna leave it till chapter seven hundred.

[spoiler=spoiler]

I'm not an expert in writing, but that "and suddenly...on the last panel seemed pretty.... cheap.

The chapter was all about some "despair factor" being pushed in, and it doesn't work because the last line tells us some secret of Ukitake will help save the day. We were told so in our faces there.

Also, Inoue not being able to cure the Soul King because "he's too important for your punny human powers" is bullsh*t. I would have rather seen them explain the Soul King is already in a sort of suspended animation paradox, so time reversing powers are incompatible.... Or better yet, I would have liked it if Ichigo's group had been allowed to be useful for once.

Next point: Why is Yhwach so powerful again? They seemed to imply last time that he was a direct son of the Soul King, but then in this chapter the Soul King is said to be nothing but what allows the flow of souls around, with no real power other than that. Even more, the Soul King is in a frozen animation state, how did he even have offspring? Did it one day become the king or was he always like that? and showing the worlds falling apart mean it is really dead... wait did they never show anything about what its personality could have been, if any?

Sooo Aizen. It is clear that Aizen wanted power, but other than that the last time he saw Urahara it was shown he also had a clear dislike for the Soul King. Why? The Soul King is pretty much an object. There's also that his transformation was supposed to resemble the Soul King, so I thought the Soul King was gonna be.. you know, powerful. Was Aizen planning to become an object?

It'd be nice if Yhwach's powers would have weaknesses and rules. That'd make it more of a strategic thing in fights, which at worst wsould still be better than the battle of bs it is.

Aizen tries to make it sound like the Soul King is cruel, which would make me think that the Soul King is a purposefully neglectful being who Aizen sought to punish. And yet, the Soul King, as you said, is nothing more than an object. I'm expecting something later down the line to show the sentience of the Soul King, but right now, I don't trust Kubo to have it actually mean much of anything.
