So, allow me to just... compile what just happened.

You knew it was a Quincy technique that shouldn't be shocking, or you wouldn't have replied to him with "Really?".

You know the Sternritter are Quincies.

Yet you claim it's not common sense that it's sarcasm, despite you being condescending to someone because you believed it was, in fact, obvious that the Sternritter would use it.

Saying you don't remember every little thing as an argument doesn't hold up with your initial post on the subject, because you clearly have at least some idea of how idiotic it would be to actually be shocked by this development.

I asked him if it was really shocking that the Sternritter could use Vollstanding because I didn't know if all quincies could use the same things. It would make sense that it would be a class-only ability or something. What i didn't remember, or know for sure, was that it was an ability that ALL quincies could use.

That jailer guy could use it, and it's basically Quincy equivalent of Bankai or Resurreccion. Basically, not expecting the Sternritter - who are high-ranking Quincies - to not use Völlstanding is like expecting an Espada to die without revealing their Resurreccion.

Ahhh. I didn;t know that Vollstanding was that big of a deal, I thought it was just another ability. Of course, i knew it was pretty strong, i just didn;t know it was a Bankai equivalent.

A SUDDEN CALL...FROM ICHIGO!!

-The fantranslator

"THE INTENSITY OF DOUBLE EXCLAMATION POINTS! ICHIGO DEFINITELY MAKES A PHONE CALL!!"

-Me

So, basically.

Bad guys steal bankai.

Good guys take their bankai back.

Bad guys say "oh, we knew you'd take them back. We don't need them anyways. We have our Quincy powers."

Bad guys summon super death cross-whazzits and Evil Mustache Man gives generic anime bad guy speech about despair.

Did I miss something? Because this sounds like the writer is saying the "stealing Bankai" arc only existed to make the bad guys like scary for their debut.

No, I got the feeling that the whole "steal bankai" thing was a waste of time as well. Pretty much the only ways that it will actually matter are that Yamamoto and Choujiro are dead and won't get their Bankais back, although I can't even remember if the guy who stole Choujiro's Bankai was killed by Yamamoto or not.

That chapter was awful. Seriously, Kubo, stop with the jokes. We didn't get anything resembling a satisfying answer regarding why Ichigo couldn't use the faster method of transportation, and why the hell is it supposed to be funny that the Quincy already started attacking the Seireitei? When I first saw Ichigo's outfit, by reaction was "Oh that's a great use of our time. A wardrobe change."

[spoiler= Answer] He was killed by Yammoto:

even smacked talked on how he used the Bankai.

My bad! That question was a long time ago. Ignore this if you would.

I think the only thing that came out of this chapter was that Urahara might enter the fight soon and the Shinji took a critical hit to the shoulder, which won't matter unless Kubo decides to start actually having characters die when they're killed. in fact, this chapter could have been summed up in a 4-5 panel page.

"You need a week to get to point B."

Oh, the standard shonen method of padding. Ichigo will arrive at the scene around, say, #595 after all the other good guys lose.

Well, Like Ichigo said, if he hurried, he could get there in like a day and a half.

Wait

If they summoned the staircase from above to spiral down, couldn't they have just let Ichigo hop on the bottom part and just ride the stairs down?

Why's he got to exhaust himself using Shunpo and be late?

I thought Ichigo just jumped down the center.

Right, but now he'll just be using Shunpo to fall as fast as he can which should take half a day.

But if they simply had him hop on the bottom of the staircase as it was summoned from above, he'd be able to ride it down to the battle without wasting time and energy.

I don't think there was a solid bottom. I think it was forming downwards, not dropping down.

Why not?

If it's wind resistance that would push him off or something, he could've just stabbed his swords in the stairs to hold him in place.

It's kinda hard to explain. Imagine you were walking on the stairs as they're forming. You wouldn't be moved along as it's forming, the stairs under you would be standing still as the rest formed in front of you, so holding onto whichever part was the front at that moment would do nothing as it would just keep forming in front of you.
