Not much to say other than how I'm amazed at Kubo's adding even more characters to the mix.

I'm guessing the end of the new chapter means Ichigo's gonna get a new Bankai along with everyone else. Maybe something involving his Quincy powers.

Now that I think about it, I think Kubo purposefully set up the stealing Bankai BS to give characters upgrades.

Soifon's was too flashy and hard to set up, especially considering her fighting style.

Komamura's sucked because it was too easy to damage him by being linked with it.

Toshiro's was just an extended version of his Bankai, plus he's popular.

Byakuya's popular.

I think he wanted to redux some of the popular people's powers since he'll likely use them again for the upcoming fight and will want to keep it fresh.

He didn't give Soifon a bankai THAT long ago. He really should have just made it something not stupid.

I think I got it. Ichigo's zanpakuto was forged out of a White hollow, which is a hollow that was formed from parts of shinigami, instead of the normal method of bonding via an Asauchi. Zangetsu (the spirit) is not Ichigo's zanpakuto spirit after all, but is a manifestation of his Quincy roots. This means that the previous Zangetsu was a "fake" sword.

This. I don't know what the hell happened there... What I'm getting from this so far (which is probably 100% wrong) is that Ichigo's zanpakuto is supposedly a hollow...and is also Yhwach as well his Quincy powers... ...wut?

My guess is that Yhwach is the embodiment of all Quincy powers and so they all have something like that inside of them. However why he ended up being an aid to Ichigo's Soul Reaper is what I don't get.

I'm not sure how I feel about this twist.

I'd be less conflicted if it was an outright Deus Ex Machina, but it's not. It's a Chekhov's Gun.

I mean, Zangetsu's Bankai hilt had a backwards swastika on it, and while that was always written off as the Buddhist Swastika/Yungdrung (Which is far older than the Nazi usage), it makes sense now because it was a subtle tie to the Quincy's, except it was in reverse, covering how he's half and half.

I mean, I could be giving too much credit to Kubo easily, but this all seems planned out now.

In other words, anyone who mistook it for the Nazi swastika was right all along.

Yhwach from 1000 years ago...Which means that "Zangetsu" is Yhwach around the time of the fight with Yamamoto and Zanka no Tachi...

I'm probably totally wrong, but could Yhwach's battle against Yamamoto have caused some weird Horcrux-power infusion-shizz, so Yhwach could preserve himself?  And so Ichigo's birth was really a catalyst in his return, in that case...

And could Ichigo's preposterous powers and crap be a result of some leftovers from Zanka no Tachi, in that case?

I dunno.

Okay, so let me get this straight. So what he was calling Zangetsu was actually Soul Reaper powers derived from the Hollow that was inside his mother, which was created using Soul Reapers, which was passed into him at his birth. The white Ichigo that we all thought was his hollow powers was actually the real Zangetsu, the Soul Reaper powers that came with the Hollow. And the old man was actually the manifestation of his Quincy powers, Juha Bach from 1000 years ago.

... Fuuuuuuuuck.

Honestly, this is one of the most long waiting, ridiculous (good way) Chekho's Guns I've seen.

While there are still many issues with his work, I must applaud Kubo for this.

EDIT: Wait, Ichigo's been using Quincy Powers... so any Hollow he killed was outright destroyed... Goddammit Ulquiorra ;~;

Thing is, Zangetsu still acted like a normal Zanpakuto, he had a Bankai after all, so I really don't know. Not to mention Ulquiorra was killed by his Hollow and since that is also his Soul Reaper powers so idk.
